I don't think they give a flying car for temperatures when they can very easily survive an EVA reentry.

Jool, because it's big.I developed a fear for big objects in space since the days of Star Trek Bridge Commander...

Does the Community Want Better Aerodynamics?
SoldierHair replied to spudcosmic's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This is how the current aerodynamics feel. I don't even try the new updates until FAR is also updated. -
Just curious as to why mining bases are built?
SoldierHair replied to dommcq's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes, the fact that the game is a sandbox and everybody can do whatever they want in their saves. -
My newest KSP obsession is making shuttles. Shuttle (which is huge) Shuttle Mini (which is actually at a 'realistic' size) Shuttle nano (which is useless) [un]Surprisingly, the better one is the Mini. But the work horse is of course the big, mean Shuttle. The initial idea was to put one into another (Shuttle Nano inside the cargo bay of the Shuttle Mini inside the cargo bay of the Shuttle, for de lulz), but then i realized something. They have wings. But even like this, you can still fit 2 Nanos into the big one.

Pretty much this.

So, i decided to make a Shuttle, since this is the new trend.Didn't tried to put anything in orbit using it, but i thing it's pretty powerful, having 4 aerospikes (from which 2 of them are at a 30 degree angle and one at 15, to compensate for the changes in the COM made by the lifter stage). V1 V2 (which is basically the same, some minor changes to the wings)

Squadcast confirms SABRES for 0.23!
SoldierHair replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Having 2 different kinds of engines doesn't add weight just because there are more engines. You will need to put the extra engines somewhere, you are going to need extra slots for them. That means extra weight added, more parasite drag, you will also experience changes in the aerodynamics, you might need extra lift to compensate and so on. I might have exaggerated a bit, though. -
I find the 4th one you mentioned the most annoying, since it makes my game crash, completely destroys the thing i was trying to build and makes my processor choke on tears for 5 full minutes while the game screams at it 'ARE YOU SORRY?ARE YOU SORRY FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO KEEP ME RUNNING WHEN I GLITCH OUT SO MUCH THAT I MULTIPLY 300 PARTS A FEW TIMES?WELL, ARE YOU?'.
-
That's pretty much what i said in the first reply.

There's practically nothing around you to be heated up, since you are in space. If i recall correctly, all that heat is coming from the light alone that falls directly on the thermometer. edit: oh, wait a second.Meters?

Mainsails are stronger than i expected...
SoldierHair replied to SoldierHair's topic in KSP1 Discussion
No, i only tested it on Kerbin. And as requested. It is in space now.Well, i think i forgot 'Hack Gravity' on, but... eh.I only observed now.It shouldn't affect the experiment too much, now should it? -

Sorry for double posting, but I also made a video.I also up-armored the front of the vehicle, added extra plates, spaced armor. The results were less violent this time, ...but i still thing i destroyed the universe. Recorded it in 720p, but apparently YouTube sees it as 1080p. It seems like it hit something this time... -

I'm going to try to fire it from orbit later today, but i don't think it will work. What i didn't managed to take a picture of (since the game froze) was the vehicle itself getting reentry effects upon launching the projectile (which i was focusing on). -

Actually, that video inspired me .I wanted to take the concept and improve it, mount the gun on a mobile platform. Could you post a close-up of the projectiles you use?Mine seem to be... world breaking. -

SoldierHair replied to SoldierHair's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes, i have. But you need B9 for the struts and the platform of the vehicle. http://www.2shared.com/file/d1YaaeC_/Tank_Mark_I_V1.html There you go, put it in SPH. -
Well, all i wanted was to build a 'tank' with an auto'loading' gun.And it ended up being a time machine. There was once a little armored vehicle that dreamed to have an AT gun It signed a pact with the Kraken and it received the wanted gun And OH GOD Damn, look at that speed And after i tried to reload the quicksave the Hell Kraken attacked me and the game crashed. I only have a few questions: 'How...?' and 'Did anything similar happened to you?' To this day, the little armored car keeps shooting decouplers into other dimensions/back in time.

*sigh* The things i do for science... points.I'll just have to ignore my fear of big objects that i got since the old days of Star Trek Bridge Commander and continue the mission.

What do you feel like and look like while kerballing?
SoldierHair replied to ExplodingRocketShips's topic in The Lounge
I look like myself and i feel like my hand is getting welded to the mouse. -
Eve, i like the purple-sand look of the planet+ it's fun to aerobrake there. Also Mun, since i always go back to it, from time to time.Something about it makes me want to come and land there again and again.

Now I know from where the Telus Mobility Enhancer came from
SoldierHair replied to FellipeC's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The only things that can be legitimately called a 'flying tank' are the Antonov A-40 and the No.3 So-Ra. -
I wanted to explore the ocean. And so i did.
-
Very nice, you even added the backside Maus turrets. They should be a little bit wider, but other than that, that is a fantastic job you did there.

Stupidest thing you have done in the game
SoldierHair replied to Talonsin's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Accepting the challenge of a friend. '200 engines, each with his own fuel supply' he said 'i accept' i said 'MAKE IT STOP' screamed the CPU 1000 parts And this as a bonus.'GO BILL, GO.JUST LIKE I TEACHED YOU' - Jeb -
Post the errors you have made when you started playing at KSP!
SoldierHair replied to goldenpeach's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I was stacking engines for 'more power'. Also, i didn't knew that fuel-tanks are fuel crossable, so i was spamming EVERYTHING with fuel-lines.
