Aspect ratio/border adjustment settings??
MrDave replied to omgacat520's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
At the main menu, select settings and adjust the aspect ratio. This may leave a border around the game screen, but you'll be able to see everything. -

Downloading ksp for ps4/xbox 1
MrDave replied to DunaManiac's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
You can't play the PC version on console. You will need to purchase KSP for console on your digital marketplace/store. I believe the current console version is 1.1. Be warned, the PS4 version is still awaiting a patch for the save corruption bug.- 1 reply

Why is this game still on the market place?
MrDave replied to ChillingCammy's topic in KSP1 Discussion
My experience with KSP on Xbox has been enjoyable, although I know this is not true for others. I've yet to encounter any game breaking bugs in my career, only minor ones, perhaps due to my playstyle. Using a controller was daunting after playing on pc for almost 4 years, but I've adjusted to the point that if button mapping becomes available, I'll likely not change it. It is unfortunate that others are currently unable to enjoy KSP on their consoles, but I don't believe Squad and Flying Tiger will cut and run. -
I don't know what platform you are using, but on Xbox you need to be in docking mode. You can click the icon or press the "Y" button to select it. In docking mode, press "A" to toggle between translation and rotation. The indicator glows blue for translation and green for rotation. Translation allows you to move without rotating using the left stick to move left, right, forward and back. R2 and L2 allow you to move up and down. It's easier to control in the "locked" camera view. Make sure RCS is enabled! Hope this helps!

RCS not activating while in EVA
MrDave replied to Drakau's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
I think X toggles RCS on EVA. Unless you mean your craft? Should work if it is still manned or you have a probe core. Did you know, you can click on the RCS indicator on the navball to activate it in cursor mode when flying a craft? I can't remember trying it, but maybe it works in EVA too? -
Xbox One controls help
MrDave replied to myShadow 46n2's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I've not been able to switch to a derelict ship on rescues, even within a few meters. However, when I'm a couple of meters away, I click on the hatch of the stranded capsule and EVA the Kerbal. -
I get really close to the derelict craft and click on the hatch. Then I just EVA them to the rescue craft.

If you press and hold LB or RB, it gives you fine control over the cursor, as well as parts and rotation in the SPH. Hold LB or RB and press L3 for fine control during flight. The roll, pitch and yaw arrows on the bottom left of the screen will be blue when fine control is active. Hope this helps!

Did the Mun use to have an atmosphere?
MrDave replied to MedwedianPresident's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I don't think Mun ever did, but IIRC, Moho did have an atmosphere early on. -
Solar tower vibrating in orbit
MrDave replied to chimpbone's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
Did you try turning off SAS? If you have multiple guidance components, on different axis, sometimes they work against each other. -
IIRC, the triggers control roll in flight mode. Yeah, I spend a lot of time looking at Kerbol or Eeloo.

Currently, there is no way to resize the font in the map view, unfortunately. If you hover over it with the cursor and press B it'll stay displayed, if that helps. If you press and hold the right or left bumper and then adjust your maneuver node, you'll have finer control. I usually adjust the map view so nothing is right behind the maneuver node. You can click on the time warp arrows above the clock with the cursor to activate regular time warp. I'll also click a spot on my orbit and select "warp to here" which activates warp, and if you've placed a node, you can click on the projected orbit (dotted yellow line) and select "warp to maneuver". I hope this helps!

When you have your kerbal on EVA, click L3 for cursor mode and press B. You'll be able to select "plant flag". If you're in career mode, you need to have an upgraded astronaut complex.

I'm not near my Xbox right now, but if I remember right, you can access the settings from the main menu and change the UI scale down to see it. It'll put a border around the game screen, but you should be able to see the whole screen, I think. I'll check again when I'm home. It's the UI Aspect Ratio adjustment. It's not available in the settings on the pause menu.

Also, if you press the left or right bumper when controlling the cursor, it'll give you fine contol.

Warp Should Be Fixed (4X is not enough)
MrDave replied to Sersie's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
You can also click on your orbit and select "warp to here". Additionally, if you place a maneuver node and click on the orbit it projects, (dotted line) you can select "warp to maneuver". -
This is a very bad experience on console
MrDave replied to jdub's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
I'm enjoying the consle version immensely. I've played consoles for decades as they fit my lifestyle better. I can simply get a lot more playtime on my Xbox than my pc. I first saw KSP on a Robbaz video in 2012 and I had to have it. It was disenheartening to realize that it would likely not be released on console, so I purchased 0.17 for pc. I loved it! I was overjoyed when Squad announced it for Xbox. The controls are a bit daunting, but easy enough to pick up with a little patience. I feel bad for the folks having difficulties that prevent them from enjoying this awesome game and hope the issues they are having are addressed quickly. -
Xbox one sensitivity waaaay to high
MrDave replied to Skippy556's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If you hold down left bumper or right bumper and then press L3, it toggles fine controls. The arrows in the bottom left corner will turn blue to indicate fine controls. -
Seems to be a bug. Fortunately, you can reset the stages, if you don't forget!
-
I never got the hang of docking mode on PC. I just used IJKLH and N in staging mode for translation, so it took me a while to adjust on the Xbox version.
-
If you hover the cursor over the question mark, it'll show the controls list. Hover over that and you can scroll with the dpad up and down. The list is kinda context sensitive, like only showing the editor controls when in the VAB. There's also controller diagrams in the KSPedia in the game. Hope this helps!

PS4 UI issues and suggestions

No problem. The throttle doesn't work without the navball up in map view tho. -
PS4 UI issues and suggestions
MrDave replied to Ako_Vendetta's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
I didn't remember being able to stage in map mode on PC, so I just tried and I couldn't. With the science experiments, you can assign them to action groups in sandbox, or career if they're unlocked.
