Soooo ... What's the deal here? Have the original devs abandoned this mod? The last post by r4m0n was on 22nd of May. That's over two weeks ago. And DYJ hasn't posted since September 2012. This addon is arguably one of the best and most important to KSP, IMHO. I know r4m0n said that the 0.20 changes were hard on DR and it would take awhile to fix .. but here we are with the users patching the problem, mostly. I understand this is voluntary work and all that, and time is needed .. but it sure would be nice to have a word or two from the horse's mouth. If they're not going to keep it maintained, it'd be nice to have DR "realeased into the wild" so it CAN be officially maintained.

Nice! LOL I bet Mr. Morden had something to do with this.

It DOES take time to scan a planet. You gotta wait and wait and wait. And even WORSE is that you hafta have the scanning craft as the active craft the whole time. You can't be doing something else while your satellite(s) do their scanning. I wanna be working with other spaceships while my fleet of MapSats scans and maps the surfaces of ALL the bodies in the Kerbol system. I don't want to sit here and watch every single one of them do the mapping. That is utterly tedious and un-needed. IMHO. Heck .. I can't even run the dev version right now anyhow.

Dramatic drop in stability from .19 to .20 with lots of mods.

The more I play, the more I notice this happening to me as well ... Basic loading is faster, but I'm getting A LOT more crashes at scene-changing. .. I can build a craft in VAB, go to launch and get a CTD or game freeze. Restart and go direct to Launchpad, loading the same ship, and it loads and launches fine. End Flight > Restart Flight .. CTD or game freeze .. consistently. They'll fix it. I know it's alpha. Just greatly in need of further memory optimization. -
We can simply request that Squad release the sky map to us. Thy might oblige. I agree tho, having the whole sky map seems pretty important, as it's pretty difficult to tell where people are seeing the constellations that have been posted thus far. There's no reference point. And triangles are EVERYWHERE amongst stars .. so please try to limit "triangle" constellations to .. well .. perhaps none :P =D Keep at it! This could work!!! Thanks!!

Kerbal Space Program ... often with a movie or other video feed on my TV

I definitely see they pyramidal triangle there, but the long leg of the arrow is a bit of a stretch. heh heh see what I did there!

Stars only twinkle due to the atmosphere. Stars do not twinkle when viewed in space. ..EDIT.. oh geez, someone else pointed that out already ... guess I should read all the posts before quick-replying. sorry.

Heya Playin with KW last night, I added a smaller rocket assembly to a large tank assembly of my 2nd stage. When I tried to add the interstage shroud, attached to the coupler bit, it turned out the interstage shroud was considerably too long. I ended up switching the small rocket (2.5m?) to the large rocket (3m?) and that worked, but sometimes I DO want a small rocket attached to a large tank. There seems to be no decent way to adapt this .. unless I'm totally missing something. Thanks!
-
I aaaaaa .. okay .. with KW 2.4 will we have to rebuild anything that used pre-2.4 KW parts? I'm assuming yes.
-
OH! Well then. That would do it, wouldn't it LOL I assumed it had been updated to the new folder structure as what I downloaded said it was updated to 0.20.1 http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/0-18-1-kw-rocketry-overhauled/ Perhaps this should be clarified on the SpacePort page then plz thx.
-
I installed KW last night, but the parts didn't show up anywhere. Yes I installed it under GameData. Any ideas? Later I'll try again with KW as the only installed mod.

Well, I tried to launch my first 0.20.x mapsat last night. Spent quite awhile building the ship. Used mostly parts from Half-meter Parts and Other Useless Junk. Building went fine, but when I went to launch, the game either hung or crashed out to desktop. I tried several times. Then I started uninstalling mods. Still kept crashing. Finally I removed the mapsat dish from my ship and it worked fine. Put the mapsat dish back on the ship and it crashed out. Re-installed all the mods I'd removed, took the mapsat dish back off the rocket, and it launched fine. Put the mapsat dish back on the rocket and it crashed out. Not sure what or why, but clearly it is mapsat causing this. MapSat worked just fine for me in 0.19.x .. I freakin LOVE MapSat, as it gives actual functionality to satellites. One of the best mods IMHO. Virtually must-have. Thanks for your work on this mod. I look forward to a working update. .. I am using X4r1 =D

Once, when I first played the game. Since then, never. People who mindlessly click through confirmation boxes .. well, I won't say they deserve to lose ships, but it's a bad habit they need to break. It doesn't mean they're stupid, just very very careless and inattentive. Also, as someone else has already pointed out, for those who simply can't resist clicking through confirmation dialogs, there is now a plugin that blocks the End Flight button. >> G_LockFlight Me? I like the button just the way it is.

hmm ... perhaps we need a celestial grid overlay so we can all see exactly where these constellations are seen
-
hmm ... without those lines, I don't think I'd see it JaySmoka. Sorry. ... Nice tho! Thanks!! I'll see if I can locate where you found that.
-
I don't mean computer-generated constellations. .. I simply mean us, the players, say, "Hey! Here's what I see in this region amongst these stars, and I call it [this]" and then submit that here for consensus approval or something .. not that consensus ever really works very well. And constellations don't have much to do with other solar systems, aside from being made up of stars. I personally haven't seen any star-patterns that pop out at me as anything in particular . ... . yet I'm an amateur astronomer and I agree, some of the constellations can be darn tricky to see. It doesn't help that they're based of ancient mythology that most people these days know nothing about, and that all the light pollution blots out many of the involved stars.

After discussion on IRC last night I did do some extensive testing of this. SAS definitely definitely helps stop rotation. It seemed to me that it helped even when SAS was turned off. With SAS turned on it was even harder to initiate any rotation, but it also stopped VERY quickly. There was, indeed, apparently no difference between ships (with and without SAS, otherwise identical . probe core, battery, fuel tank, engine) as far as initiating rotation while SAS was off. Some have said SAS is useless, but that is far from true. It definitely helps maintain control, as well as launch stability. .. can someone link me to statements by the devs as to when/why SAS rotational initiation forces were removed please? thanks [copy of my post in another thread re: rotational torque]

Is the game stable enough to play in realtime?
artao replied to beeblebrox's topic in KSP1 Discussion
you're not REALLY playing KSP unless you do it in real-time. Timewarp is a cheat. .. heh heh heh -
Unofficial Kerbal Space Program Model Rocketry Thread
artao replied to Rockhem's topic in Science & Spaceflight
SWEET score!! My brother, a very Goodwill customer, found an old Estes A.R.V. Condor and gave it to me. It is missing one BT-5 tube, but I have plenty of that in stock. Looks like an awesome rocket. Now I absolutely MUST get my workbench sorted out so I can get back to work on rockets. http://www.rocketreviews.com/estes-8784.html -
This thread has become TOTALLY buried in all the noise in Off-Topic PLEASE moderators. Could someone merge this thread into the "Unofficial Kerbal Space Program Model Rocketry Thread" here >> http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/27122-Unofficial-Kerbal-Space-Program-Model-Rocketry-Thread?highlight=model+rocket
