  3. This car is only capable of 390m/s, but it isn't rocket powered and can turn/break like no other.
  4. The deflectors are just landing legs, I needed short ones that could fit under the wings but not too tall such that Tim can't reach the ladder. As for how he holds on, I don't know actually. At first I was hoping to get him into the cockpit from the start but there was a problem with the connection between two ladders and he can't climb all the way up. So I just had him hanging there and lunched into space. Then I found that he was drifting away while I was already in space so I thought, oh what an opportunity to get back in! So I got Bill out and let him fall to his death, and let Tim in to get back home! Maybe it's FAR, I heard that it makes kerbanauts more aerodynamic.

  7. How is rover only a -45s bonus? maybe it should be like a 50% time bonus or more? Ion power is also too weak, an ion craft won't go very fast you can easily beat it by 60 seconds with any other propulsion.
  8. Well looks like I was overly ambitious. I had my design for doing all that in one go, but I couldn't land it like a plane it's too heavy so here is my plan B. After two days of trying I finally got a successful run! Achievements: 10 - Up There – Reach an altitude of 1km 20 - Getting Higher – Reach an altitude of 10km 50 - The Border – Reach an altitude of 69km 50 - Supersonic – Achieve a speed greater than 800m/s without leaving Kerbin's atmosphere 100 - Hypersonic – Achieve a speed greater than 1500m/s without leaving Kerbin's atmosphere (I forgot to screenshot but this is definitely a hypersonic vehicle at TWR>4) 200 - VTOL FTW – In a winged vessel capable of level flight, land vertically under power 500 - The Dive – Have Tim free-fall >1km (He gets off the ladder and gets back on while in space, so it is technically a "free fall") 50 - Spaaaaace! – Exit Kerbin's atmosphere 100 - Orbit Achieved – Achieve a stable orbit over 75km 100 - Side Quest – Deploy a satellite with a probe core and power generation capabilities into an orbit of 150km (when my Mun intercept probe circles back it will be in a high orbit via gravity assist) 200 - I'm on Fire! – Have Tim reenter the atmosphere fast enough to cause reentry effects to appear 500 - There and Back Again – Your vehicle enters space to retrieve Tim, then returns to space while returning to the KSC 500 - Difficult Side Quest – Send a probe on an intercept trajectory with the Mun or Minmus 1,000 - Jebediah's Side Quest – Send a probe on an escape trajectory out of the Kerbin System 100 - Made it Back in One Piece – Do not loose a single part from your vehicle (or make sure all pieces make it back to the KSC undamaged) (I mean I have stages and probes, as well as the unfortunate kerbanaut who had to make room for Kim) 100 - Batman – Finish the challenge with Tim on the roof of the VAB 300 - Speed Run – Complete the challenge in under an hour =3,880 points

  11. I'm trying to make some fuel tanks but the capacity is confusing me. See, take the Rockomax X200-16 Fuel Tank, it has a capacity of 1,600 Liters. But a cylinder that size with 2.5 meters diameter would have something like 7,000 liters volume. Even if you count in the rescale factor of 1.25 cubed, around a factor of 2, it is still 3,500 liters, more than twice the actual capacity. What is going on?

  13. spoilers don't generate lift. Besides, is it still horizontal if it is more than 45 degrees vertical? What counts as flying and what counts as driving? I'm sure all of the previous entries had at least some air time. you really nee to fix your challenge, cuz that's why it was all the way down to 5th page.
  14. all I sad was that it must be able to support itself without using wings while driving. So you can have wings as long as it does that. The track is circle the KSC, CW or CCW it's your choice. Top speed is for moded wheels or landing gears.
  15. It is no longer up to you once you have written the challenge. If the OP says I qualify then I qualify. The only possible debate would be over interpretation. You can argue that spoilers count as horizontal lift parts but you never said the rover can't fly with VTOL. Now if VTOL doesn't count, fine, I have another one that isn't VTOL and doesn't have wings. now do I qualify?
  16. I don't think that's the correct way to interpret OP's post. The idea is that you need to be DRIVING and not flying. With the down force I have, I think I totally qualify as driving because the slightest bit of flying will send my vehicle into a fatal accident. If you really want to stick to the letters, well OP never said you can't make a flying VTOL so if that's what you want I'll just do that instead? There, no horizontal lift parts. And yes, this is a rover, it does have two tiny wheels on the command pod.
  17. This should be a record, I did it in 11 minutes and 20 seconds with moded vehicle. But since I went above 2000 meters, I get a 15 minutes reduction. Which means my final time is: NEGATIVE 3 Minutes and 40 Seconds. Or 0 Minutes and 0 Seconds So I arrived before I left the runway, What medal should I get? This vehicle is 400m/s capable on flat ground. I'm using MechJeb so I can limit it to 250 because the slops sometimes screw up my down force and can cause serious accidents.

Cars are judged by these factors: Top speed (points = 5% m/s) Time to circle KSC 3 times (runway and all buildings, score = 90/time in secondsx25) Appearance (0-25 points. judged by me) Special Features ( 1 point for small features like lights/accessories. 5 points for big features like movable parts other than wheels. 10 points for major features like being amphibious/ space ready) ~25 points for each category, ~100 points total (can be more if you're supoer awesome) All parts/ mods and plugins are allowed, as long as they follow the following guidelines: It must be be able to support itself by wheels or skids at all times, not wings or thrusters.* It must be able to accelerate, break and turn. As well as perform those maneuvers multiple times without resetting. It must be manned Top speed only counts when the vehicle has been in contact with the ground for the last 1 second. Your vehicle must compete in all 4 categories without going back to the SPH. Singular parts do not count for appearance scores (a one-part BMW shell doesn't count) No plugins or parts that directly affect the vehicle's position or velocity bypassing physics. (Hyperedit) No plugins or parts that changes the environment of Kerblin. Infinite fuel and other unrealistic parts allowed, but more points if they are well intergraded with proper appearance and explanation on how and why they work. *Wings and thrusters are allowed, and you can fly around except that top speed doesn't count unless you have been in contact with ground for the last 1 second. So if you can manage to touch the floor while flying at high speed, go for it. Also if you think you can circle KSC while flying, again, go for it. However your vehicle must be capable of being supported by its wheels/skids at any time while driving.
  19. it does flame out, even if I connect it to a fuel tank with the fuel pipe. You have to disable the oxidizer reserve on the engine to make it use your fuel tanks, which is really inconvenient.
  20. Challenge accepted! making my own F-1 race car! 1:38 "KSC Challenger Mk.3" is the first all custom moded race car designed specifically to tackle this challenge. Featuring an ultra stable wide chassis, 4 wheel drive and steering. With two independently controlled jet boosters, it has a top speed of over 200m/s and cornering speeds of over 100m/s. Coming down the production line, I call it "Downforce" It aims to solve all of the problems associated with the KSC Challenger and set an unbeatable record for this challenge. Even with a top speed of 300m/s, it also has incredible control with a cornering speed of over 200m/s achieved by the immense downforce. In fact its down force is so great it's the main reason for its 300m/s speed limit, because the chassis can't take any more of it.
  21. intakes also tend to give it a gigantic drag when used with FAR..... but I'll try that i just tried it, same with my previous experiments. flame out when there is no atmosphere, and lots of drag. you can just edit the full black texture into any color you want.

I wanted to open up a part manufacturer just producing some random parts, but I can't think of a name for myself yet. all of my products are quality ensured to be: -unique model, sometimes I grab free models from the internet, sometimes I make my own. But no stock models, and no models from other mods. -Performance optimized low poly models and no unnecessarily large textures. -High quality models with baked AO textures. no simple basic shapes. -unique immersion descriptions I already released one part, the SABRE engine :http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/29111-SABRE-hybrid-rocket-engine two more coming down the production line: Big Stack of Gold (waiting for a larger and smaller version before release) Si-Fi Engine also two other small parts without models yet, one heat sink and one resource generator. all these unrealistic parts run on "Mana", there is no Mana tank, each of these parts have their own Mana reserve and recharges slowly. Still OP, but just wanted to add this extra touch for comfort. they've all been under the code name "magic" which is too lame to use here so I really need a good one.

  24. I have tried two engine modules in one, it does work and can solve the thrust issue by having an air breathing engine fire backwards. But I don't have a way to make it entirely air breathing because you can always activate both engine modules at the same time and get even more thrust out of it. As for the pointing down, it was originally made that way but has lot of issues like when you use the mirror in SPA the other one will be bent upwards. also the slight upwards bend makes space flight very difficult. So I have decided to put the attach node on the top of the curve so if one really wants it to curve down he/she can just rotate it 90 degrees.
