  1. how its spelt, like all english words
  2. None of those pictures have even tried to look at the bottom of the stucture. Rotating the camera down so you can see is easy. All the docking ports start facing up. Quite often when you are using the smaller versions, your design is made so that they're at the top or on the sides so its easy to see even if it wasn't so obvious (although people were complaining that they didn't work when docking was first introduced.) The big docking port seems better suited to connecting superstructures together and for that reason tends to get placed under the pods. You just need to remember to flip it. Check to make sure because looking up isn't difficult to do.
  3. Yes, 100m/s is too fast. The poles have flatter ground if you can get there.
  4. Although Earths gravity isn't uniform all over, it is large enough to smooth over mascons that would have a profound effect on orbits. The bigger the world, the smaller the mascons to the extent where you couldn't really consider them a mascon at all.
  5. Am I the only one to have never put a docking port on the wrong way round? It always seemed obvious to me.
  6. The island with the runway on is just a place to test land your planes. KSC2 no longer exists
  7. There seems to be a longer wait on loading screens and I've experienced lag for the first time when crossing over SOIs. However, I've got more part mods installed, so that may be why.
  8. Meh, spending years of ingame time for a single transfer isn't that realistic either. Besides, the burn times would probably be hours long if you wanted to use any sort of realism in your engine design. At heart, KSP is a game first, not a physics simlator. Having a goal that requires different methods would make it more fun, rather than just have intersteller flight being more of the same only longer.
  9. I also agree with this idea. Maybe have some incredibly rare resource(s) that you needed to mine and transport to Kerbin (along with the high cost of researching and building) and then have to activate close to Kerbol (within Moho orbit) for some pseudo science reason. I think this would allow for the difficulty and time needed to be fair, but without the x1000000 timewarps and massive delta-v needed to just fly out.
  10. is there any way to change which piece has the symmetry set relative to? It is always the first placed piece, but I'm trying to build a rocket where the first piece starts off rotated. Trying to attach boosters doesn't work now because it tries to place the decouplers in the wrong places
  11. I'm interested in learning just how many games have suffered from the minecraft effect. AFAIK it is just minecraft, and even then it is dubious just how much was down to so called idiot requests.
  12. In all seriousness, games like this are like lego. It'll always exist. Once complete, the formula won't need to change. KSP doesn't belong to a genre like call of duty or starcraft. There won't need to be more iterations. Sure, maybe one day KSP won't be the most played game on your computer, but it'll still be there. Even when squad has moved on to other projects, once in a while you'll boot up KSP and get hooked for a few months again. It'll age well and live on.
  13. 10 years from now KSP will become so popular that it ends up being the national past time of every country on Earth. However, trouble is brewing. The debate of mechjeb vs non-mechjeb rages on and turns violent. Brother turns against brother as a new era of darkness consumes the earth. No-one survives, and the black clouds part for a final time to reveal the crumbling ruins of what once was.
  14. 10 years from now KSP will become so popular that it ends up being the national past time of every country on Earth. All wars stop because people don't want to spend too long away from Jeb. Squad become the richest company ever to exist. Their wealth makes them a philanthropic force for good. World hunger is a distant memory as the people of the world unite to ensure nobody goes without KSP. Then sometime on June 21st 2023, the Evil Galactic Xortan Hegemony attempts to invade the solar system. The attack fails when they come up against the 3rd planet from the sun whose 7 billion inhabitants are fully adept in orbital mechanics. Earthlings effortlessly defeat the invaders with skilled use of Hohnmann transfers, apoapsises and utter disregard for lagrangian points. Humanity assumes control and brings peace and prosparity to the galaxy. Squad devs are elected supreme chancellors of the known universe and a bright future is had by all until the heat death of the universe.
  15. I'm pretty sure the joolian system would rip itself apart if the moons exerted any force between them.
  16. KSP doesn't exist in our universe. Everything asides from water and air are completely unrelated to the elements in our universe.
  17. IMO, using jets as a first stage just leads to forming bad habits. It only works because the current drag model doesn't work. As soon as there is a realistic representation of drag in the game, jet engine first stages won't work.
  18. Its fun to imagine that in future versions, if your space program has a high mortality rate, all the applicants will be very brave and very stupid.
  19. hold shift down to decrease the rotation while building
  20. except nasa aren't playing a game The video is all very impressive, but I couldn't help but think I was doing as much work getting it to Duna as he was. Asides from building the rockets and playing around on the surface, there wasn't any actual gameplay. It was a demonstration of perseverance and magnitude of free time rather than skill. There is nothing from stopping other people doing this, so we are all worthy.
