  1. Does this mean 1.1 will be unity 5? I thought unity 4 had fundamental 64 bit issues?
  2. The only thing that frustrates me is the explore contracts, it bugs the heck out of me that getting them seems mostly luck and when you do they dictate how your space program should proceed but I'm too OCD to ignore them. Imo they should be automatic (I know I've said that before, once or twice)
  3. I just updated to the latest version and have a strange problem. The part show up in sandbox but are absent in the career save, first thought was that I needed to unlock the node in the research center but when I checked the node is unlocked and the parts all show up as owned. Any ideas? EDIT - Nevermind I think starting a new career sorted it.
  4. great update, docking cams seem like a great addition. btw does anyone know if it's possible to alter the zoom/field of view in first person EVA? i'd like to pull it back a bit /increase the fov
  5. My mind is boggled by this thread You guys have so much more imagination than me! my craft all tend to be a bit ordinary. That's stunning!
  6. Truth is I'm not sure how to rank up at all, I couldn't find any missions that seemed to be Imperial military so I just kept doing mission for anyone with Empire in their name but really wasn't making any progress after dozens of missions. I swear the makers of this game don't want people to make any progress, to get any progress at all seems like it needs hundreds of hours investment and the game is 90% just sat there watching your ship trundle through space. I just can't understand how Elite 2 twenty years ago was a really fun game and this one is nowhere near as good. It's not just the lack of planetary landings, there are lots of reasons. For example in elite 2 you can see a proper solar system view (with orbits) of any system from anywhere else and then target the planet or space station you want to get to, jump into the system and fly there in seconds using the autopilot. Another thing is the awful external camera they finally put in, begrudgingly it seems as the only way to control it is with the same gamepad controls used to fly the ship. every time I try to get a look at my ship flying past a station or star I fail because by the time I've got the camera in the right position the object I wanted to look at is half a light year behind me. Why won't they let me use the mouse to move the camera? and nothing says "We don't want you to use this feature" more than a debug message when you activate the external camera. frankly if they don't add in an autopilot that let's me get where I want to go in seconds and fix the external camera, I just can't be bothered there are so many other games that are much more fun to play that I don't see the point in investing the time required to make any progress.
  7. Best I suppose is 1984 (although the book is better) Orwell was a genius with a far deeper understanding of the world than even now most people realise. Worst? pretty much anything that comes out of Hollywood
  8. Do you have the rank required? I was going to do that but got sick of doing seemingly hundreds of tedious missions with virtually no rank progression at all. If I'd carried on I estimate it would have taken around 2000 hours to get the ship, but as the game is mind numbingly dull I stopped and went back to KSP.
  9. Didn't know that, interesting. I read this once in an astronomy book but obviously have no way of checking it. To draw a scale map of the solar system with the Earth at 1mm diameter would require a piece of paper 12km square.
  10. Many thanks SalehRam, that must have been why it didn't work. I'll give that a try.
  11. I could swear that there used to be a trim setting on ALT+W / ALT+S but it didn't seem to be doing anything in game so I had a look in the options for the trim but couldn't find it anywhere. Did there used to be a trim or did I dream that up and if so what happened to it?
  12. Cool! Quite a balancing act, what's keeping it up? Today I tracked down an odd glitch that was causing a space-plane to explode on physical time warp, turned out to be the MK2 probe core behind the cockpit, I've no idea why but anyway fixed by using an octo in the cargo bay instead.
  13. Not sure what you mean by Mk3 wings but I tend to avoid the fat ugly ones This is only an SSTO, it won't get much beyond LKO and for some odd reason has a tendency to explode on time warp, probably something to do with the cheeky clipping.
  14. I think it's fair to say we all share the hope that nobody will ever make anything like this ever again.
  15. Tinkering around in New Horizons Sonnah rising
  16. Do you remember it for being unplayable? it's something of a joke in gaming history now as the most broken game ever made
  17. Only peripherally connected to KSP but today I went on Amazon.co.uk while they are having a sale and while I was still half asleep, that was a really bad idea I spent £400 on a new chip and motherboard that it's going to be several weeks before I can even test, I couldn't afford to get the necessary memory and decent CPU cooler at the same time. I grant myself impulsive mug of the day award.
  18. Good question, I'm not familiar with Indenture, Elite 2 Frontier springs to mind, I still consider that to be a stunning game. a bit more recent would be The Longest Journey, probably the best adventure games ever made in my opinion.
  19. If I remember correctly I think I played it on the dedicated device first too, but we also got a 2600 shortly afterwards. I remember combat, the game with two little blocky tanks shooting at each other, ah those were the days! I know they were terrible games really and wouldn't hold our interest for more than ten minutes now, but rose tinted glasses and all that.
  20. lol, why you young whippersnapper! Get off my lawn!
  21. me too, I think I was about 6 or 7 and I remember being amazed that I could actually control the little doodads on the screen. /also old not the most versatile controller ever invented:
  22. me too, I'd like to have vehicles around the KSC too but frankly I can't spare the framerate, it's bad enough when launching large rockets already. I suppose the only completely unnecessary thing I do is rotate space station crews every once in a while just because I like rendezvous and docking with them.
  23. lol, according to some not too far from the truth. I don't know about an interest in social sciences being part of it, I was always a physics nerd but my interests are mostly political or more accurately anti-political.
