Any tips for what settings to use when converting to DDS? I installed EVE and then Astronomer's Edge of Oblivion pack and then used Paint.Net to convert to .DDS with these settings: But the clouds came out a bit weird, very solid looking: -

Hi all, A few days ago Unreal Engine 4 went free for non-commercial use. just sign up and you can download the latest UE4 (4.7) and get access to the editor all the sample content and Unreal tournament 4 pre-alpha https://www.unrealengine.com/what-is-unreal-engine-4 It would be very nice if squad were to make the switch, but who knows how much work that would be? and UE4 comes with the agreement that commercial use means you have to pay Epic, I think it's around 5 percent but I didn't check those details. The editor itself is amazing, built for ease of use, it sets the benchmark for a well designed user interface that's easy to pick up while still being comprehensive. the features list in UE4 is incredible but suffice to say it's the first truly next gen engine and therefore has the capacity to really make your computer wheeze. I wouldn't recommend downloading the elemental demo and trying to run it on your own machine unless it's on a beefy computer, the scene is around 10.5Gb

It's hard to argue, they've added multithreading but it's only partially working, still maxed on one core while the others are only running at around 25% and it still has the appalling memory leak that it always had. I doubt it will improve but if that company ever wants to sell another title they really need to.

It isn't really possible to make a city builder that isn't a carbon copy of previous city builders. All first person shooter are carbon copies on the original first person shooters too but because changing the art assets shows up more in those games than it would in a city builder no-one complains. It looks good, but I'm still hoping that Cities XXL will get a performance patch as it dwarf's all the competition but runs badly, having bought that I'm holding off on spending any more on games at the moment.

Apologies for digging up a slightly old thread but I came across an interesting and somewhat related article, solid holograms http://nextshark.com/a-uk-company-has-figured-out-how-to-make-holograms-solid/

Asimov's, The Last Question and no, no theory I ever came across as to how it could be done. singularity and Will according to Asimov.

I see lots of screenshots of craft with Kerbals in the external command chair, how do you guys do that? I found a mod that allows you to man those chairs in the VAB but it was well out of date and didn't work for me, so how do you launch a craft with manned external seats? -

New video showing off the deferred lighting, I doubt this will apply to KSP but beautiful none the less -
That's strange, I wonder why 200m? I don't know what's causing it so I can't say what would fix it but I do know that antialiasing causes a big hit on high part count ships, I found that turning it off in game and using the nvidia control panel instead gives better results with lower overhead. program settings tab / KSP.exe Enhance the Application settings at 2x or 16xQ CSAA and FXAA on, also I recommend setting Maximum pre-rendered frames as high as possible. I don't know about ATI cards but I'd guess there are similar settings in the control panel for that

Is anyone having trouble getting this to work with the spaceplane Mk2 cockpit? it used to work fine but when I rebuilt my ksp recently it stopped working and I can't figure out why, it works ok with the mk1 pod but the screens in the mk2 are the default ones. I tried the 0.19 dev version and the older one on curse any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received.

Has anyone found a workaround for the scaled root part resizing itself on scene changes? it's driving me crazy. I just tried the latest dev version and it broke all my ships, so I reverted back to the previous version and previous save before installing the latest version and they're all still broken, loading them in the VAB I can't see anything, the parts fill the screen and I can't zoom out. I really wish I could just go back 1.44 as that was the last version that didn't seem to go haywire

I've known about lucid dreaming for a long time but never could be bothered learning, and it does require learning unfortunately you can train your brain to do it but you can't just do it on a whim, it starts by writing a comprehensive journal of your dreams every night right after you wake up. then learning how to concentrate on specific objects in your dreams. eventually after years of practice you can start to control them. also some people have a natural disposition to being able to do this, some don't so even with years of self training you may not be able to do it.

The best cure for a song stuck in your head is to listen to it, pretty much everything is on youtube if you don't own it and then listen to another track straight afterwards, usually works for me.

You gotta love low gravity bodies

Lol, I loved the original but you're right, it's too pricy I suspect it will drop in price fast though, no doubt by the time of the summer sales it will be a quarter the price.

Yeah, that's familiar like the idea of rovers, just not in practice

Everything is overpowered in KSP. I don't know if it's possible but it would be good if the Solar system could scale with difficulty rather than just costs, which doesn't make the game more difficult, just more 'grindy' Changing the ISP with difficulty would work too, but I'd prefer the larger planets like with the 6.4x mod or RSS. This can get to orbit with fuel to spare

As has been stated above reaching absolute zero is impossible because of quantum jitter but as you get very close you get some very interesting states of matter like Bose-Einstein condensates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bose%E2%80%93Einstein_condensate

Even without the Alien spaceship disguised as a cloud (you can't fool me damned aliens!) those would still be stunning pictures. I'm a cloud nerd

I've been struggling with building a realistic looking shuttle. it's getting to the point where I'm considering downloading someone else's design
