  1. This one should be interesting. Time to unzip x4. EDIT: As it turns out, 16 RCS\'s barely have enough power to lift one tank and the capsule. This poses a problem. Initial tests show that the lander has a tendency to tilt, giving it more sideways speed than vertical braking. Hilarity ensues momentarily.
  2. Exactly. If you used a well-designed rocket, you may end up not even using any of your spaceplane\'s fuel getting into the orbit. Getting out of said orbit would only require some RCS applied at your AP. With luck, you could get back into the same orbit as before and use RCS again to begin aerobraking maneuvers.
  3. These are my thoughts on how to do this challenge. Try getting into a high orbit above 500,000m. From here you can use aerobraking techniques to drop under the required altitude limit. I'm thinking a spaceplane would be the best craft to do this with, as you can boost one up into an orbit, and then coast back down through the atmosphere.
  4. Allow me to clarify, as it is difficult for me to understand what OP is saying - no offense, OP. Not everyone has the best English 1: Get a rocket up to (or over) 500,000m of altitude. 2: Then, pass within 10,000 meters of Kearth\'s surface. 3: After passing, get into an orbit of any size, whether it be circular or elliptical. 4: Land safely on Kearth after one full orbit. Restrictions: Stock parts only, up to Experimental Release .11x4. Screenshots are necessary for your entry to be valid: 1: On the launchpad 2: At or above 500,000m 3:Passing Kearth under 10,000m of altitude 4: Reaching your orbit 5: 10 minutes after you\'ve entered your orbit (Perhaps one at apokee and one at perikee to show you\'re in orbit?) 6: Your safe landing.
  5. Judging from the reactions of other members, it would probably be safest for you to make this one in secret.
  6. Wasn\'t that one built in .8-.9something? He\'d have to rebuild it again. However, you may want to look at this thread for ways to remove stages without input: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=2261.0
  7. It looks nice. I would download it, but I\'m waiting for the official release before I get my mod parts back.
  8. Here\'s an idea: Make a Nyan version of Jeb.
  9. UPDATE: Due to some small bits of revived interest, here\'s the newly updated challenges! Do them in order, as I have arranged them from easiest to hardest. Challenge 1: Construct a rocket boat that goes at an appreciable speed. Challenge 2: Get back onto land from the water. Or, you can use C7\'s heavy RCS for getting out. If you do that, you can skip the first portion of Challenge 3. Challenge 3: Take off from land and get into a stable orbit. Bonus appreciation for getting the Kerbals back safely. Restrictions: Stock parts, C7 Flight Pack, and the sideways parachute from the DERP CO. Pack. Please submit screenshots and/or videos for this challenge, for the purposes of validation. Current Leader: JupiterII, with a plane that can successfully land and take off from the water!
  10. I\'m going with mine ofc. RA2 was one of the best games ever.
  11. See, you\'re getting into the challenge. It\'s like having a spy satellite do a fly-over.
  12. The Orbital Jumper is my first successful orbit attempt. It\'s a semi-standard spaceplane with SSTO capabilities. I am aware that the file is named 'Sub-Orbital Jumper'. I built and tested it before I considered trying to orbit it. C7 Flight Pack and Tuned SAS are needed.
  13. Pssh. My current orbit attempt has sitting at 9,222 km. It is indeed over 9000.

    CAD Users?

I\'m taking CAD 1 at my high school currently, and liking it quite a bit. Anyone else have experience with CAD?
  15. I think most people will have accomplished this on accident already I have.
  16. I did. Cows were annoying enough and there was no animal persistence.
  17. I wasn\'t suckered into it, I consciously chose to buy it. However, this was back when there were relatively few bugs. Now, the amount of annoying things has hit a level that I can\'t stand. Even if it is under development, I think that the developer should look to the community for feedback on what\'s fun, and what\'s not. I think that Notch has partially lost sight of that.
  18. So does that mean that the the symbol for 'Tetroxotribullshitide' is Bs3? I c wat u did thar good sir. Quite funny indeed.
  19. I salute you. You are a wonderful person for doing this.
  20. That is all very true. I was just reading the wiki, and there are four new mobs, multiple new items (half of which are mob-specific and don\'t have a use yet), and bugfixes. I\'m also starting to think that it\'s becoming complicated to learn about all the features of Minecraft, and a very steep learning curve to go with it. I think it would be better for Notch to focus on one thing at a time until it\'s finished, like what HarvestR\'s doing with KSP.
  21. Lately, with all the new releases and pre-releases for Minecraft, I\'ve been reluctant to play. Why? Notch has added things that don\'t work and/are annoying. For example, -Endermen can pick up ANY block, including bedrock and player-placed. They also have zombie sounds as a placeholder. -Hunger Bar: Me and my friend agree that it\'s one of the worst things to happen to Minecraft. Adds to the whole maintenance aspect that we hate. Food stacks, which helps, but does not make up for it. -Animal persistence. Now that breeding has been implemented, it helps a small bit, but may God have mercy if you are n00b who doesn\'t know yet. -Leather is nearly impossible to get now. Iron ore has been buffed, so now it\'s very likely that you will have iron armor before leather. -As of the 1.8.1 update, no snow will fall in tundra biomes. That\'s one of the worst right there -- I love the snow, but Notch removed it to show off the new swamp biomes. /endrant A lot of people will disagree with me on all this, and that\'s okay -- just keep it civil. I just hope that Notch gives a huge checklist of things we can toggle on/off, to tailor our game to our liking.
  22. Unfortunately not. I\'m not going to set that up until I know that I\'m going to be producing a fair amount of pictures that I want to share.
  23. This is my first successful spaceplane. It is capable of sustained extremely low altitude flight, and current range is unknown due to a lack of flight experience. Be careful when taking off -- default thrust is just enough to get it to float upwards slowly, so set it to full. Once at desired altitude, you can reduce thrust to the first big line on the gauge to conserve fuel. Requires C7\'s Flight Pack and Tuned SAS.
