I have managed to get a stable save game and space centre option @17km so far (having issues with moving over ground) A work in progress. -

Messing around with KAS and Hooligan Airships to create a carbon nanotube space "kethelator" fuel line that goes from the ground, where the kethane is extracted to orbit of DUNA. Mark 1 :failed Mark 2: Landed, about to start extracting kethane... The Tank at the top is for liquid fuel and oxidizer, that's that part I hope to be able to put into geo orbit. Airships have their lift increased and away they go with the Orbital Fuel line.... @20km dunno if you can see them. -

Operation Laythe. Kethane Miner + SSTO to Laythe
Amphiprion replied to Amphiprion's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
We'll, an extremely annoying development has taken place. Both times I have now entered atmo with the Carrier, a new flight anomaly/characteristic becomes evident. the first attempt, The craft wanted to roll left and had to be kept from doing so. second attempt: the craft wanted to pull up and had to be kept from doing so. sigh.. this craft was shown to work perfectly after numerous tests in Kerbin atmo.. -

My upgraded Miner. It now holds more fuel, with less parts. Here it is being launched off kerbin.. THe outer fuel tanks are drained. Landed on BoP with a lil kerbin nexto it for scale. -
SSTOs! Post your pictures here~

Operation Laythe. Kethane Miner + SSTO to Laythe
Amphiprion replied to Amphiprion's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hokay, Progress College. This Kerb had his life's first bout of epilepsia, So unfortunately for him, He was replaced with The next on the Kerb Laythe waiting list. Loaded the Kerbs minus epileptic man up, seated ready for the roller-coaster para-drop, out the rear of the plane on laythe. ( they have toilet suits that completely recycle all fluid and send faecal matter out via a rear faecal disposer port). Cargo SSTO on Ascent with precious kerb cargo Built A larger Kethane Miner/Interplanetary Drive. This one takes over 2,000,000L of Keth to fill, Weighs in at 4032.07 T, yes, 4032 tons when fully fuelled up andconsists of 132 Parts. I used the mod that altered the texture of the spherical tanks to have them a white color which you will see in future pics. It was launched with its outer Spherical Tanks completely Empty. The two KW rocketry tanks and the Smaller Rear Engine tanks were however, full. A refuelling stop on Minimus is planned before the Long Jool Burn. Both of them Docked in Orbit with this Crappy Docking Collar that bugged out, So had to replace it with a new design. After A refuelling stop at Minimus, we Arrived in Laythe Orbit. The burns went without issue. Dropped the Cargo SSTO off in orbit while the Miner/Drive went to BoP for Refuelling Miner Landing on BoP. Was difficult to find a flat spot on the surface, with LoW-G and a top heavy craft, you need a relatively flat surface. Lots of coasting was done. check out the Kerb at the bottom. Self shot for Scale. The mining ship is Massive... -
LoL, I think because its still pre-Alpha, single core code is easier to change and update than multi core code.. makes sense for a game in pre-alphe dev stage.. 2.8ghz-3.4ghz is quite a percentage increase. Alot of anger in you, there is. remember your training.

Operation Laythe. Kethane Miner + SSTO to Laythe
Amphiprion replied to Amphiprion's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I constructed and perfected the new Cargo Carrying SSTO, that will take place of the SSTO above. It will have a Large truck like racing rover that it will deploy via a ramp out the back once in atmosphere. Clutch turn and land nexto the parachuting rover. craft file http://share.cx.com/K83SVs Part config parameters http://share.cx.com/WgfZ4H a modified XXL sabre engine that is needed. Mods Needed: b9 aerospace TT multiwheels KW rocketry Spherical Fuel Tanks TAC fuel balancer Aviation Lights -

Apologies! I forgot to add in the Mod section 1 more mod. TT Multiwheels. -
I built an Eve, Zero Bypass, Kethane Turbine craft to take down and back up to rendezvous with "the Kethstral" Kethane mining ship. (weighs 3,600tons fully loaded with fuel. Needs low G moons to be able to land and take-off). This lander took alot of trial and error to get to work. The landing was really hard, keth turbines only kick in when you are about to crash, quickly get the airspeed down, CLUTCH IN, deploy chutes, keep descent speed around 10m/s then last kick with middle rocket engine if needed for final landing.

SSTO's .craft file as requested: http://share.cx.com/796Mnk It needs alot of runway. 1 - changes mode of sabre turbines 2- toggle's nose aerospike on/off. put brakes on, disable aerospikes with (2), switch engine mode to rocket(1) , power up, release brakes before damage occurs, once you hit 100m/s press (2) to activate toroidal's in the nose. once you have rotated to your desire, press 2 again to deactivate toroidals, and (1) to switch rockets back to air breathing mode. Mod Requirement: B-9 aerospace spherical tanks TT multiwheels . Have fun. -

Awesome airship miner, I likes. I built an Eve, Zero Bypass, Kethane Turbine craft to take down and back up to rendezvous with the miner ship . I shall post a .craft of that SSTO now for you.. Thank you for the compliment -
Operation Laythe. Kethane Miner + SSTO to Laythe
Amphiprion replied to Amphiprion's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Perhaps, trying to think of the real physics involved in towing something of this magnitude with cables is interesting. I think it should work. But Alas it didn't. So I made a docking collar with quantum struts for the SSTO to be towed with : -
In Preparation for my Journey to Laythe with an SSTO, I have been testing and experimenting with my craft. So I attached my SSTO to the "Kethstral" Kethane mining rig with the KAS winches, and found the craft goes flying all over the place and alters the Kethstral's heading on burns. I shall have to come up with some sort of docking collar to connect the two sturdily with some quantum struts if I want to make it To Laythe.

Chris: what I do is, If its on a moon, get into a 50,000M orbit, then when I come across the deposit I use map view and centre my craft with the moon, noting wherebouts the deposit is that im flying directly over. Then retrograde burn till you go straight down , or if you have overshot, retrograde till you go backwards a bit.
