How did you make them fly in formation?

In the game engine they use (Unity3D) a number very small/big (not sure about the big part) it replaces some characters with numbers to represent them in a shorter manner. EDIT: I know this from personal experience with Unity3D (and no I'm not making ants with those puny values).

You can actually refuel, but I agree it would mean longer EVA time.

Well it's designed to be a 1 man lander, and incase something happens (like the parachute ripping off on big re-entry speeds or you can't decelerate quickly enough with the big lander) to save the guy for rescue. EDIT: I kinda left it there also incase some guy gets stranded and needs to go home (notice I have 3 parachutes, 2 for the lander pod and 1 for the escape pod).

Thanks! It's designed for planets or celestial bodies with gravity too high for the standard RCS pack.

Make a ship in the VAB and land it with a kerbal intact next to the runway and then simply hop onto the Jet-pack!
