  1. Dude, that is awesome. Love the creative use of mods and can only feel impressed by the size of what you are trying to do. Do you have some SS of the "Ion Net"? Will be looking forward for the next mission.
  2. Wow, that was a huge lander! My first landing was with the "Toyota Corolla" type lander. took me ages to go big as you did in the first try.
  3. Change engine in the middle of development is the same as throwing all they did till now and start from scratch. The only game that tried that was Duke Nuken and we all know how did that go. My opinion is that the last feature to be implemented is the career mode, after that a big push in polishing, adding parts for science and improving the physics model a bit. Ship the game as ready, cash in as much money as you can and start working in KSP II with the Cry engine or something like that if you want.
  4. KSP is develop by 6 dudes with no budget, previous experience, in a company with a completely different business focus. We are lucky that they had an engine that they could use. We can only hope that they finish this game soon, cash a really big profit and make KSP II with the better engine money can buy.
  5. That is very cool. I like the ideas and the general concept. Wouldn't it be better to have 4 drills connected to a single big converter instead of 4 small ones? I ask because I'm planning to copy, I mean, use as inspiration your scheme. Also, can we have some more pics of the ships that you used as well?
  6. Mine was a manned mission to Jool with the intention of delivering a ISA Mapsat satellite on every moon. I knew nothing about Jool, I thought that once in orbit around it, getting to the moons was just like flying from Kerbin to Mun or Minmus. So I set up an orbit 80 km height and was quite surprise when my ship sink in Jool.
  7. This is just awesome. I read that in Al Pacino's voice.
  8. I remember this same discussion about Redditors and Steam players. But the lack of treads about cats and comments like "pwned noob" makes me think that we are safe.
  9. If you need gods names, go indian, KSP will be released before you could use all the list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Hindu_deities Also a list of the major ones, if you want to keep in a manageable number. http://www.sanatansociety.org/hindu_gods_and_goddesses.htm#.Uk3l7YZgffs
  10. May I suggest something? Get a copy of Total War Rome II, which was just released as a finished game, from a massive studio with a dozen years of experience under their belts and an astronomic budget. Then make a note of all the bugs, incompetente IA, imbalances between units and come back to compare with KSP. Squad has 6 dudes, with no budget and 0 experience in making games. Does KSP look better now? Don't meant to offend, but your criticism is a bit unfair as they are not even in the stage where they can iron out bugs as they are still adding content. What is the point of fixing bugs if new system full of them will still be implemented?
  11. Usually complex systems cannot be implemented in parts, like a tech tree in one release, experiments in another and scientific equipment in the next. They are all part of a functioning pack and would be useless separately. What would be the advantage in having fast update of useless stuff?
  12. I don't think .22 or shotgun slugs are the best against zombies. I would stick to a old school Ruger .308 rifle. Do they still make those?
  13. Nah Hayoo, clearly if you call any of those characters Betty they would be perceived as female. Aramchek, it's a personal preference of mine indeed. I think the game will be much more enjoyable, fun and complete with female Kerbals. Also I never made an equality argument, you are the one pulling this card, which actually is reason enough to lock this tread. All I and the other players are asking is for a feature to make the game better. I'm pretty sure you have a list of your own of features that you would like to see implemented, and not sure why it offend you so much that females get to be represented as well in the game.
  14. Mainly because I don't want KSP to end up in one of these lists: http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-sexist-video-game-problems-even-bigger-than-breasts/ That website is read by millions of people, future customers. You can also read the comment below as well, and if you can't see the problem still, you should really pay more attention on what women are saying in this tread.
  15. Sorry, if you go back to all the posts from females in this tread you will see that they clearly identify the models as males and are asking for a female model. Changing names won't cut it. Unless of course you want to alienate a big part of the player base.
  16. No half arsed solutions please. This is not a riot or an angry mob, these are people requesting for a feature that is indispensable. Devs can take their time as long as they do it right. It's a bit sad that female models were not there from the beginning, but now that the mistake was made, they better fix it properly than a poor fix.
  17. Great tread. Looking forward for the next chapter. Also loved your designs, especially the mini miner. Needs a bit of work but the concept is sound.
  18. Sorry Aramchek, you are mostly right, but wrong as well. The discussion is about introducing female models to kerbals as the women that play this game are saying that this is detrimental to their enjoyment of the game. So yes, their gender is important and the fact that female models are missing doesn't make for a "game for all people" if they saying that it doesn't because of that. If gender is not important, let's swap! Put female only models and names to the game and let's see the size of the treads asking for male models.
  19. No mate, you post a troll and I answer exactly what you asked. What your point was by the way? That all men kerbals are fine? That variety is bad? That women asking for one inclusive implementation is too much? That because your gender is already represented everyone else should bugger off? Please, enlighten us.
  20. allmhuran, Not sure if all those implementations are possible, but you can be happy that so far all kerbals seems to be homosexuals as there is no female in their planet, but if you want lesbians we will need females as well. As for transexuals, how do you propose to do this? I'm curious. Also green is a good color because if favors no race at all, so you can be happy that they have that covered. Also, disabilities as autism don't have physical characteristics, so you can roleplay at will any kind of mental problem that you feel like it. About age and hair color I think is a good idea, more customisation is always a plus. Nationalities might be a problem, considering that backwards speech tend to sound the same in any language. Any more requests?
  21. Because they are men, and half of population of Earth is comprised of women. Why exclude half of population, player base, consumers, whatever angle you want to look at it. Did anyone else read the women posts in this tread? They are asking for it and saying that is important for their enjoyment of the game. Why keep pushing that genderless BS when evidence is right in front of you?
  22. Hi Chris, I do understand your position, I'm not calling out or demanding anything from the devs. Their game, their rules, also I fell privileged that I can play with their creation. Just pointing out what we agree on, their inexperience and "indieness" brought them an unexpected success, but also problems. As much as they need to learn how to deal with the success, they will also have to learn how to deal with their failures, and not including females was a failure. Not dealing with it properly when they were call out on it was another. Not a programmer, have no idea of how much work would be to implement females, but a simple hint of the shape of things to come in that area would be nice.
  23. Bravo sir, you are a gentlemen and a scholar. It's dangerous out there, take some of my rep with you.
  24. Hi stupid_chris, I do understand the realities of Squad development, but the evidence that this was a mistake is the amount of treads locked in this forum discussing over and over again something as simple as having females in the game. The whole problem could have been solved with the name generator including female names and a promise that female models would come in the future. No much resources needed for that. When called out on that they took the position that kerbals were asexual. They might have though it was funny at the time, but that was just inexperience when dealing with a big group of consumers. Sapphire post in this forum are a good example of what should have been the default position from the company from the start. They will learn eventually. It's what mature adult people do after all.
  25. It would be a good excuse Temstar, but a poor one. We are in 2013 last I checked, pretty different from the 60's in terms of women rights and participation in our society. We don't need to cover Squad on their mistake, as I said, they will realize and correct that at some point. It is just a minor display of how incompetent game companies are in general when dealing with gender. Sexism is still rampant in the game industry and gamers in general. If you don't believe me, a quick visit to r/gaming on reddit would prove my case. Or just go to the tread with a pool on gender here in GD if you feel like it. Fact is, there is no excuse for not having females on the game, devs promised to bring them on in the future.
