  1. There are practical limitations on what 5 dudes, no budget, and chosen engine can achieve with this game. I think technical limitations on the engine will make different solar systems impossible, adding them to the game will go far beyond the scope of what 5 people can code in an time frame that would allow them to make money from the game. This game is almost complete. Need trimming and polishing for sure, but the faster it is put on the market, the faster you will get Kerbal II with a better engine, more people to work on it and better features.
  2. Nice mission. Feel bad for the rover tho. Did you hit a bump?
  3. How about building a more old school rescue ship? You know, just in case...
  4. Not sure if you can fly in Duna. The atmosphere is paper thin, only goes till 15000 meters or so, nuke engines are quite heavy and suck in atmosphere flight. But I'm can be totally wrong as I never tried and people saying that something is not possible cost dozen a dime.
  5. Your rover looks fine to me. Just don't expect to make a u-turn at 70 km/h in a low gravity environment without flipping. You couldn't do that with a car on Earth. Ok, maybe a race car could. Your lander could be made lighter with small RCS tanks if you want to bring extra cargo to Minnus. I think you did an awesome mission there. Keep on the good work.
  6. A better map with better zoom and camera Maneuvers nodes more user friendly (bigger or scalar) A tab with favorites parts in the VAB The in-game, not mod, ability to combine different ships in one on the VAB Quality of life improvements mostly to be honest. People ask a lot for big features, but do we really need them before these "little" things are iron out?
  7. I would like to thank you for the tutorial and the rocket design. When playing the demo I could go to the moon in tiny rockets as it is all you have. Then I got the full game and bigger parts. They came with wobble, overheating, increased mass and a new set of challenges. Looking at your tutorial and designs, I learn how to use struts, combine small parts that I was used to to bigger rockets, how to fly the thing in a more efficient way and to make your ships look cool. So again mate, thank you. IF you ever come to New Zealand, beer is on me.
  8. You Sir should be awarded with some internets for this mission. Awesome job mate.
  9. I don't have much lag in my laptop, but I fly simple machines. Maybe Squad should finish this game in a neat pack with career, more parts and a planet or two, better maneuver nodes, etc release for sale and with the profits make: "Kerbal 2, what we wanted to do, but had only 5 dudes and no budget to start with". Pretty much what Maxis did with Simcity before it sucked.
  10. The planetary map. You can't zoom at specific points unless your ship is close to the point. When trying to fix your approach to a planet you can't zoom on it to see if your coming under, over, etc and when you're close enough to see you need more dV to maneuver to an equatorial or polar orbit. Any tips to fix this?
  11. This thread delivers. Nice designs, info and chat...
  12. Maybe you should have killed some speed with the engines before opening the chutes. I did that in Duna and it worked as I had the same problem with my landing ship.
  13. Nice tuto, deserves a thread on its own on the tutorial section. Major props for the docking with different orbits as well.
  14. Scott Manley to the rescue. Easy tutorial on docking. Watch a couple times, try docking, and go back to the video to review the parts that you are having problem with. Also, cool mission, like it alot. Edit: Man, that is a helpful community, 5 posts on docking in the time it took to write mine.
  15. Well done mate. How many hours driving to get there?
  16. Mate, congratz for not over engineering stuff. I notice that you keep all your rockets small and simple, which is a achievement on it's own, but sometimes a bit more juice in your rockets will get you better results. In you last mission I think you would have liked a more "fancy" orbit than the one you got, with a bit more fuel you could have adjusted for a polar or equatorial circular orbit. Also, more fuel gives you more time to fly in space, which is the fun part. :-)
  17. I'm very fond of this kind of mission. Rescue missions gives you the opportunity to be creative and a sense or purpose. The only sad part is that as you became more experience by doing them, less things go wrong and less rescue missions are needed. Edit: Spelling...
  18. That is a cool mission mate. I can only imagine the pain of those drives to collect them all.
  19. Two main sails engines would have more trust them the present 6 nuclear engines, so your burn would be shorter. You would expend more fuel, I think, as I don't know if 2 main sail burning for 10 minutes wouldn't be better than 6 nuclear burning for 65 minutes. I'm not that much of a pro to have this figure it out.
  20. You could try to dock two ships radially in those docking point just above the break. They would be your new engines. With lots of care and Quantum Struts, it could work. I think is fun to try to do some crazy stuff just to see what will happen.
  21. Awesome album mate. I'm planing a similar mission at the moment, but I'll try to send a hover with my ship so the boys can explore a bit.
  22. We could build a space lift from ground to a station in Evestationary orbit. Considering what I see people build in this game and the time they can dedicate to it, why not?
  23. Thanks mate! I'll start spreading my ignorance around the forum till I get to do it.
