  1. Phase 5: The first Resupply Mission http://imgur.com/a/p7UHQ Utilizing the latest in launch clamp technology (thank you FASA), Bill, Bob and Kenlorf board the brand new Mun Resupply Shuttle. This 3-man craft should contain enough storage to refill all the snack containers at the Mun Base, as well as add some new hands to help with all the work and science. Kenlorf likes to remark how "unique" this craft looks, and yet Bill and Bob never laugh at his jokes. I guess some things were not meant to be. In any event, the trio hit the upper atmosphere and start popping off those fairings. The SDHI sourced command system ensures safety at all stages. The trip to the Mun is as uneventful as ever, and there was much rejoicing. Touching down in one piece, the boys get out to stretch their legs while they wait for Jeb to pull up with their ride. First class luxury service back to the base. There lots of work ahead, but for now, a day to relax and socialize. They break open a celebratory bag of Koritos, and put their feet up.
  2. I guess I should have gone with this face instead: o.O Probably more appropriate, eh?
  3. Unity (the engine KSP is running) is only 32-bit anyway, so currently it will only max out at 4gB (3.5 useable). It is mostly CPU and Memory intensive, so any type of modern system will do fine on KSP. My point for mentioning this is simply to not worry too much about an upgrade specific for KSP, but look for the best upgrade in general. I see you are running an Intel Core2Duo processor. Its about time to start looking for CPU/Motherboard upgrades. This will give you the most performance increase. I'm using a Radeon 7770 and having no issues. I recently upgraded to an i7 3.5ghz as well. You can get 8gb RAM cheap, and even going 16gb isn't out of the question. Granted, KSP is unable to utilize it at this time, but if you are on a 64-bit OS then the rest of your programs can.
  4. I put a pair of Kerbals in orbit around Eeloo. I haven't been back.
  5. Update: New power module is online! I installed some new solar panels (I think from AEIS. I don't remember, honestly. I was testing panels from lots of different packs trying to find ones I liked.) to cut down the part count. I re-did our tether cables. And I re-planned the landing stage. I'll get some pictures up soon. But the Mun Base is not dead yet! This update gets us back in the game. We may be terribly behind schedule, but at least we are making forward progress again. ((edit)) Ok, I lied. No pictures today. We had massive thunder/lightning storms, which mean power outages, which meant no pictures uploaded. I'll try to get them soon.
  6. <3 Porkjet <3 - - - Updated - - - Yes, and since most people are going to have a tailfil on that side of the plane, a telescoping docking port would ensure no banging of important parts on other important parts.
  7. Thanks for the tips. My process today has been to build it the way I want to look without the servos in place. Then pull them off, rotate to the "closed" position, attach servos where they should go. It seems to work for simple structures. I don't know if this might be harder for bigger machines.
  8. Thanks. I assumed in 300 pages someone else had the same thought, but i couldn't think of what else to search for. Maybe I'll get creative in my building process.
  9. I'm searching the thread, but I'm not having any luck. I'm sure its just my search terms and me not able to express myself properly. Is there a way to build something in the "extended" position, but have it default to "closed" position on the launch pad? For instance, making a folded-up satellite: The only way for me to visualize what I want is to build it with the arms extended. However, when it loads on the launchpad, everything is extended. Before I can launch, I have to manually activate the servos to put the whole thing in its "folded" position. Which means, things start on the launch-pad poking through fairings, and I have to cross my fingers that I don't break those fairings while retracting the arms.
  10. This could potentially eliminate the last of my B9 space plane parts from my parts catalog, if you indeed make a sleek radial intake. This is no knock against B9, as those parts are great. But I just can't help but love the look of these SpacePlane Plus parts just so much more. They fit exactly the look of stock, while adding that little something extra. Thank you for spending your time on something like this. If I had more than an upvote to give, I'd give it all.
  11. Want. And of course you need a 270 degree rotation. I mean, unless you install them upside-down or something. But that would be just plain silly. And for the record, I've been deleting mods and parts left and right trying to cut down on the number of items in game. And yet, I keep this capsule because it is beautiful, and wonderful, and great, and useable, and now you want to make it even better.
  12. I don't know if I shared this yet. This is my rover that went to Eeloo. Essentially, it was part of a stack of 3 items combined into a single lander. The rover, a habitat/return vessel, and a Kethane refinery. . .
  13. I'm looking to add some more parts to my game. The task right now is to replace the stock solar panels. Anyone have any that they really like? I'm open to all suggestions. Most likely, if they are included in a large parts pack, I'll probably just take the solar panels out, and leave the rest. I'm trying to keep my total part catalog low, but at the same time replace some of the stock parts.
  14. I lost my very first space station to this. Physics load would cause a massive wobble which would cause massive explosions. Was unsalvageable.
  15. I haven't used it, but how about TAC Life Support. Would ensure you have ways of converting resources.
  16. Sometimes I find it best to build the payload outside of the bay, then pick the root part and attach the whole thing in one click. And there is a trick to rotating the camera to look from inside the bay out. This makes snapping the whole payload into the bay easier.
  17. I've been going around picking and choosing individual parts from different part packs. It keeps total part-load-count down and doesn't clutter up the part catalog: B9 FASA Launch Clamps SDHI Capsule System Spaceplane Plus Infernal Robotics KAS TarausHV 3.75m 7-man Cockpit Firespitter Procedural Fairings Again, I'm not using EVERYTHING from EVERY mod, just stuff I pick and choose. I'm still looking to add a few things...
  18. You can look at 6S Service Compartment Tubes. Someone made extra large versions to go with them. They aren't QUITE cargo bays, but they work great, and for small payloads work perfectly.
  19. Worst place would be on one of the poles on Kerbin. Seriously ... the effort required to get something there. Then, once you are there, the effort required to get anywhere else. Just blerg. Plus very little benefit. And not much in the way of accolades either, cause "any idiot can land something on Kerbin" ... After that? Moho. Tylo comes in a close third, but the fact that you can aerobrake around Jool makes it a tinge easier to get to. Moho is hard to encounter, hard to capture, and hard to land. Landing precisely in order to put the pieces together is also a massive challenge. If you want something hard for the sake of being hard, build a base on Moho. PS: Eeloo isn't that hard, really. It's just the time investment that makes it difficult. I've actually got a small Kethane base on Eeloo. I could have gone much bigger with it, but as a first attempt it worked out fine. 20. How are they seperate ships, yet tethered together, and you aren't using mods?
  21. I just found these. WOW. They are so nice! I'm going to use them for everything. In fact ... I might just delete the stock ones since I'll never have to use those again. Just absolutely brilliant.
  22. Mods: Get Ferram Aerospace (FAR). Learn to play with things within fairings. Really changes the whole game. No more crasy monster asparagus things with giant unwieldy payloads on top. You really have to start planning out your launches.
