  1. Kerbal.Space.Program.v1.2.9.1727 And we are absolutely sure that MechJeb is compatible with the pre-release , are we? Doesn't look like it to me. As the memo seems to get lost every damn release, I'll repeat it here: Mods are not compatible with prerelease versions of KSP, unless such compatibility is explicitly stated in the respective add-on release thread. If you want to run mods, run KSP 1.2.2, or wait for 1.3 to be released and the mods you want to be updated. If you got 1.2.9 unexpectedly, that's probably Steam being stupid. It does that.
  2. Wait, it's one of those I trashed one exactly like that ~3 years ago. Got it from a skip, discovered how slow it was (and that it had only 2 DIMM slots), left it lying around at work for 2 weeks, then put it back where I found it. I see it has the trademark side-intake duct too... AKA Intels engineering band-aid for the ridiculous heat production of the netburst architecture. Used one (with SDRAM, as I'm not a complete fool) for a while when they were new-ish, it was barely quicker than a late model PIII... at twice the power consumption. Preshott = Bin. RAMBust = Bin. I am trying to forget these abominations. I guess it could take a reasonable GPU then, but why bother? ... Seriously, just get a Core2. Or or a Phenom. Either can be found for less $$ than a good beer.
  3. Lifting awkward payloads (Atmospheric VTOL with Minisub in the cargo bay): For a trip to Laythe:
  4. Erm, by reading the instructions in the thread I linked? As Jas0n said, your GameData directory structure is wrong. Installing mods is explained on the wiki, and in more detail in this thread. The paragraph relevant to your problem:
  5. Maybe, but you're sure pushing your luck with that 128MB dedicated VRAM... System requirements say minimum 512MB, your 'card' sounds like an integrated chip with access to shared system memory, so you might get away with it. System RAM is a whole lot slower than dedicated VRAM though...
  6. ? Also, this may be of interest: It gets mod installation right... most of the time anyway.
  7. output.log.txt? Mod list? GameData layout? You have tried the standard binary search of installed mods to locate the culprit, yes? TAC complaining suggests something not right with the directories under GameData, that message is there for a reason...
  8. I don't see why there would be... But I don't run Windows, so don't quote me on that.
  9. Just to mess up your day further... Some Displayport outputs do analog, but some do not. I'm not particularly familiar with the standard, so it would pay to check the card specs before you get a cable. I've had this particular brand of fun before, in my case it turned out the Displayport was digital-only too... Ended up needing an active converter like this.
  10. DVI and HDMI are electrically compatible IIRC, but watch out with the DVI -> VGA... DVI-A or DVI-I can drive a VGA monitor (with an adapter), but DVI-D does not do analog at all. The key is the left-hand (cross shaped) part of the connector, that's your analog signal. You can get adapters for DVI-D/Displayport/HDMI to VGA, but they're active converters and are relatively expensive vs. a plain old cable.
  11. Loading takes <2 minutes here, during which I alt-tab and check out the forum. I'd make coffee, but it takes too long.
  12. Depends on your piloting skills, SSTOs require nerves of steel, and flying them does fray mine... OTOH, if you're talking about an engine, that would be a NERVA (or NERV, 'cause KSP is goofy). For landing, the answer is (generally): Don't. Unless you're landing on something with tiny gravity.
  13. It boggles my mind that we still don't have SSL on the forums. It's not like certificates are hard to come by, all I can assume is that no-one with the power to fix this actually cares... The supposed motivation for moving to IPS was security, and yet "security: step one, use SSL" is still unimplemented.
  14. 'tis not a particularly good one. With great (root) power comes great potential for hosing your system, use it only when you need to. Using sudo for everything is a habit akin to running as Admin all the time in Windows. Yes, it makes permissions issues go away, but it's also dangerous. Sudo make me a sandwich has much to account for...
  15. Eh? No SSL here. What's cert domains got to do with anything if the site doesn't use SSL?
  16. A processor yeah, but any upgrade from a P4 is going to mean a new mobo & ram too, might as well be the whole box. Big box + lots of water = expensive. More expensive than getting one locally anyway. I've had motherboards shipped from the US before, cost more than the item price.
  17. Indeed, I fished a C2Q SFF desktop out of a skip the week before last. I've got stuff plenty faster than that P4 gathering dust in a cupboard... It's free, but unless it's local shipping will kill it - I kinda live in the cheeks end of nowhere and all.
  18. *Shudder* It might be good for cooking the odd egg on though. Ed. Wait, that's a Cedar Mill chip right? Not so great for eggs. Still slow though.
  19. Often poorly, and always obliterating the bbcode in the process. Totally not the same thing at all.
  20. Mine had a Hercules mono display. 720x348 I thought Pascal was obsolete too, and was somewhat surprised to find the Lazarus IDE still under active development.
  21. Indeed, this went from 'usual shoddy bug-ridden release' to 'utter farce' some time ago. 9 months, 13 days and counting since @SQUAD dropped this fat turd, and it's still stinking. This is ridiculous, when is it going to be fixed? I don't even own a console, and I firmly believe a full refund for anyone who purchased this mess is long overdue. If @SQUAD is working on a reputation for buggy, poorly tested, rushed releases, this will work nicely. If it goes unfixed much longer they'll get the "doesn't give a fat rodent's behind now that they have your money" badge too.
  22. This is a thing. It's on my list of stupid things this stupid WYSI(S)WYG editor does. I would have quoted you, but I'm on mobile... and trying that would be a disaster. For the nth time, SQUAD, plain text+bbcode editor please.
  23. Spoiler works fine, but why are you using sudo? You shouldn't need root for that.
  24. Indeed I did, my appologies. I just can't let that level of misinformation alone. Also, sorry for all the full-quoting, this forum being totally broken on mobile and all I have little choice. As for ryzen, it looks a lot like AMD is still going for lots of cores to make up for (relatively) slower per-core performance. I'd love to be proven wrong on that, but if it's the case ryzen probably isn't the optimal CPU for KSP...
