  1. What are the exact rates at which kerbals use up resources?
  2. yes, you probably could, but you need the same amount of matter to be put in as you take out (obviously.) if you're going to make fried chicken or a 10 year old boy from something with the density of our atmosphere, you'd have to suck in a LOT.
  3. I'm working on making a mod with my own parts and textures. just for practice, i tried to retexture a stock part to see how textures worked. the part I used was the small RCS fuel tank. I used http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/mbm-to-png-file-converter/ for converting the .mbm files to .png files. the .readme in the download told me to edit the model.mu, at the bottom, where it says to use "model000.mbm" and "model001.mbm" and chage it to saying .png. I tried this, loaded the game, and the RCS tanks was gone. poof. it wasn't in the game anymore. "Well, that's annoying," I said. "I guess it's not a big deal, I can just make PNGs and convert the m to MBMs for the game." Nope. no matter what I tried, there was no program that could convert PNGs into MBMs that worked for the game. every time i tried, the RCS tank would just show up completely white. please help? how can I get the game to accept PNGs? or even convert PNGs back into MBMs?
  4. The most commonly used Monopropellant is Hydrazine. The chemical formula for Hydrazine is H4N2. Ammonia's chemical formula is NH3, so ammonia and hydrazine have the same chemical ingredients, albeit different amounts of each. That means that with enough of one, you could make some of the other (with some space elements left over). where do you find ammonia? well, urine. that means it's feasable to power a rocket from kerbal pee.
  5. there are definately some more mods you should allow - I don't really make bases without EP launchpads and Bobcat HOME.
  6. what mods are you using? i really want to get this to work for you. I just recently upgraded to a super-powered gaming pc, but I had to use a laptop for the longest time, and it was horrible. I feel your pain bro.
  7. Do RCS tugs count as modules? The way I usually build a space station is I send a little RCS tug up first and have it do all the docking, that way the carrier vehicle doesn't need to carry RCS. If the RCS tug doesn't count as a space station module, it's not that big a deal, it just means doing an extra trip. also, do you have to refuel on the surface? no refueling in space?
  8. I'll do it tomorrow morning. but i do wonder - why play ksp if you can't launch your own rockets?
  9. does it have to be one stage? i'm thinking have tons of engines then ditch them when i land
  10. Saturn is represented by Dres? Dres is supposed to be ceres. You should make your own gas giants (except jupiter of course).
  11. Would that realy be such a bad thing? All he's asking for is the ability to save and come back to it. allowing that sort of thing would let you do stuff like balloon colonies of jool, which you'd never be able to do before.
  12. yes, I am fully aware of the hooligan labs balloons. I use them a lot actually. they don't really do anything for me though, since the game still counts floating as flying, and you still can't save. I've been trying with Hooligan Labs balloons and submarines to land or float on jool and sentar, the ship will always explode no matter how fast it's moving.
  13. I have always wanted to make a jool colony, one with floating buildings and balloons and stuff. there is only one problem though - it's completely impossible! there is no way to save once you've entered jool. you can't quicksave or return to the space center, because you're floating freely in the atmosphere. I would love to be able to land, but that won't work either. there is no surface to land on, just a super destructive ocean. I've tried lowering KAS winches down into the sea, but they just get destroyed. i've tried using Hooligan labs ballast tanks, but the ship just sinks and explodes anyway. are there any mods that prevent this? anything that makes a joolian surface or lets me save in the atmosphere? any help would be great.
  14. Well no, you can't. A moon is a natural sattelite of substantial size that can be tracked. that's why each one of the rocks in saturn's rings aren't moons, and neither are tiny specks of dust in earth's orbit.
  15. I was playing around with the planet factory mod the other day. there's a small object called "pock", which orbits the moon Erin (Erin orbits the planet Sentar, which orbits kerbol). It popped into my head that I didn't know what to call pock, except for "the natural satellite of a moon". what is that actually called? a double moon? a sub-moon? a moon-moon (the dumbest of all wolves)? I hope there's actually an answer.
  16. Hellou's reaction when she found the meteor: It's not just a boulder! It's a rock!
  17. Someone really needs to make a full on tutorial for adding new textures… I spent like an hour making a texture for Laythe and have NO IDEA how to get the game to recognize it, the map just gets weird and Laythe is suddenly really dark grey… tried it with both Universe Replacer AND Texture Replacer with no luck. Sorry I’m a noob, but what can you do. I need help.
  18. made a cool laythe texture, but when I put it in, everything was really dark and the lighting was wierd. it looked nothing like my texture. can someone help? what Do I put in Laythe1 or Laythe2?
  19. Some cool ideas for habitable planets: • A Binary star system, in which both stars have a habitable planet with life. • A binary planet system in a star's habitable zone. One planet would be terrestrial world with oceans and an 02 atmosphere, the other would be a barren, grey-brown world with very little water, some volcanoes, and breathable atmosphere. • Two habitable planets in one another’s L3 • A system with many different planets, all with life. When analyzed, life forms from each planet would be found to have a common ancestor, and therefore all life in the system originated from one planet • A planet where you can see pre-life self-replicating molecules developing • Abandoned planets with ruins of long-dead civilizations
