Ah, thank you, I had my suspicions about Mythbusters! So from left to right we have: Phil Plait - an astrophysicist Andy Weir - author of The Martian Adam Savage - from Mythbusters Chris Hadfield - a Canadian astronaut Alton Brown - a TV cook Are we playing Which one does not belong?

If you mean the "no transmission during flyby": During an interview a scienctist said that they were unable to point the dish towards earth and all the instruments towards Pluto at the same time.

What is the absolutely first game you remember playing?
KerbMav replied to 11of10's topic in The Lounge
The absolutely first ... phew ... the chronology of my memory gets twisted a bit in certain areas, but it should be this Atari console game with two cowboys trying to shoot each other from two sides of a cactus ... Thank you google, for finding stuff with a few keywords - although that is your job, is it not? http://www.giantbomb.com/outlaw/3030-17826/images/ First game on the PC has to be Police Quest I - although I more watched a schoolmate play it. First game on my first own PC? Look at that Gorilla-Banana-Bombing thing up there in this thread, it came with MS DOS I think. First real game has to Star Trek 25 Anniversary shortly after - I think, at least it was the first PC game I bought. -
Mh ... care to introduce me to these guys? I only recognice Major Tom.

I run an elementary version especially for my ASUS eeePC, quite comfortable with it, although I almost only use it for internet at my parents' and videos during railroad trips. "There is no Debian, only Zuul!"

Still thinking asteroids should burn down in size - A C-class would pop to a B-class, than an A and lastly go poof. Everything attached to an asteroid while it burns down should loose its connection.

Rosetta, Philae and Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
KerbMav replied to Vicomt's topic in Science & Spaceflight
But how did it get up there? -
Random poll, do you sit or stand when you wipe?
KerbMav replied to SlabGizor117's topic in The Lounge
And most importantly: Pics or it did not get wiped! Seriously, guys ... seriously? Have to link this thread over in the facepalm one ... Seriously?! -
Rosetta, Philae and Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
KerbMav replied to Vicomt's topic in Science & Spaceflight
a planet that harbored life for billions of years. Once in its history there were the right conditions for life to start, it then adapted to different niches to dwell in (= was subject to mutations that changed its abilities to survive in different environments) and so we find it practically everywhere we look for it. Not saying that life could never come into existence anywhere else, but I somehow doubt that a comet is the right environment for this to happen. The Star Trek fan in me on the other hand keeps musing which different forms Life would be able to take - different from our DNA squishy wet cellular based, I mean. -
I welcome you to planet Earth, my intergalactic friend! What is the name of your species?

The Nameless!! No really, I do not know how to call it - it is this thing that makes you get lossed in small missions or building afterwards useless infrastructure and only lets you get to a Duna landing at most. "Before building something that big we will need a space station first to transfer the crew" - no, we do not, but I end up doing it anyway every time! And then a new update drops and I restart my career for reasons. The farthest one of my saves went was in 23.5. - a manned mission to all Jool moons and a Jool probe that managed to sling to Eeloo and burn its ion engine for a passable orbit, plus an Ike landing and probes to the surfaces of Eve and Moho. It might look like more than I say it is, but somehow it feels incomplete to me without manned landings everywhere and without at least a probe flyby of Dres even. (Thinking that I at least dropped Kerbals onto Eve in the .20 (?) demo just over two years ago ... )

Every contract has the potential to yield science, if you use the right strategy. Is the science lab available under these circumstances? (Although one might need a docking port - or use rather complicated logistics to get Munar experiments into a lab than launched to LKO.) Interesting idea for a challenge!
-
Yup.+five

To help with launching. And maybe as a real stage if it helps with the part limit.

May His mercyful Shadow fall upon your vessel.

Saving Kerbin from comet/asteroid impacts
KerbMav replied to Galwran's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Possible most likely, maybe put this question in the ContractConfigurator thread, someone might pick up the idea. -
I'll be right there ... The city I live in lies in a river valley, so not much wind going here - were are cooking inbetween our concrete and asphalt biosphere. Even the small thunderstorm last night did only graze us with a bit of a light show and some drops of warm water adding to the humidity. I like summer vacations at the sea - but if there is neither beach nor vacation ...
-
I agree, but it would be cool to have hundreds of asteroids and surprise encounters with planets etc. Hm, does KAC track SOI changes of tracked asteroids ...
-
How many asteroids could I actively kept tracked before my game dies of slowness?
-
I guess these views are are less common in the software industry.

Some movies work best on their own, without a sequel/prequel. Like Matrix which worked without any.
-
200° ... of course ... it is to hot here ...

Depends on the sizes of both orbits, that of the satellite and of the observed planet.
