  1. As you can probably tell from those screenshots above...so do I All good things etc.
  2. My asteroid base expands... This game is great
  3. I actually hate that woman. I hate her stupid face. I hate her stupid voice. I hate her stupid words. I hate her stupid brain and I hate her stupid ideas. The total universal mass can be crammed inside a bowling ball... I HATE HER!
  4. Got this game this week and I have to say it's really, really nice. Early alpha and it looks beautiful, the framerates seem stable and it has a load of potential. I went wandering and found an asteroid which was kind of hollow Good place for a base I thought, so I started building. A floor to build on and some gravity, add some lights and some power generators and away we go The view from outside The first level on it's way But there is more than one tunnel through my asteroid base, so another level was needed. I built a stairwell to take us down When the multiplayer is added and the weapons turned on this is going to be sooooo epic. I am excited by this game, looks like a blinder in the making.
  5. Good question and I don't think I could answer it really. My dad was a chemist and he'd occasionally talk to us about some aspect of chemistry or explain a reaction if we asked about rust or whatever but I think I first started being really interested when I found about atoms, evolution, electron energy levels and the animal cell. Those things really started me thinking about how much I had absolutely no clue about. After I finished my formal education, I graduated in a biological science, I started to get more interested in the big questions like what is time? Where did this universe come from? And why are we all here anyway? I had decided from a very young age that the concept of the Christian God was laughable, (no problems if you don't agree, it's just like, my opinion man), so I wanted to find out more to explain things to me. I started with some Richard Dawkins as I felt understanding evolution would be the first step in understanding a whole lot more. 'The Selfish Gene' and 'The Blind Watchmaker' opened my eyes and really fired home the concepts of evolution for me. Then I read Brian Greene's book called 'The Elegant Universe' which is basically a history of the development of Superstring theory. Mind was blown. He manages to explain relativity pretty well in it as well as the concepts behind string theory and why it's just so damn elegant. From there I've done my best to absorb science documentaries, magazines, articles and whatever else I could find because to me, science is my religion. I have faith that science will eventually answer practically all of our questions and provide near immortality in the form of regeneration tech or simple mind-downloading-into-computer tech. Yeah, I said simple, one day it will be.
  6. Another nice way to think about is this. We are constantly travelling through spacetime at the same overall speed. If you move faster through space you move slower through time. If you move faster through time you move slower through space.
  7. The south Munar pole Also has holes
  8. The best 2 free games I play lots are Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2. Both on steam, both have thousands of hours of fun just lying around waiting to be picked up. I strongly recommend reading a bit about Dota before playing with real people. Much more complicated than KSP.
  9. Engineer redux. Engineer redux. And the redux of an engineer thing. Simply essential. Mapping gives so much content and further missions. Cargo bays. The little lights from b9 are so nice. Chatterer.
  10. Definitely not. Have you found the jetpack yet? May I suggest a look at the key bindings section of the wiki. Will help a lot by the sounds of it.
  11. I appreciate everyone being nice to this guy, it's what we do on these forums, but it gets my goat a bit when people assume it's a problem with the game that causes them to fail all the time. We all have the same game. Most of us find incredibly rewarding, fun, challenging and downright awesome. Some aspects of it seem to make little sense to you? Well I'm afraid that's your sense that is the problem. You can't do something most others can? Yup, this means you're the problem. Too frustrating and can't be bothered working stuff out? Then don't play anymore. This game is all about experimentation and working stuff out. Pretty much all of us failed at the start and failed big-time. Did we give up cuz it didn't hold our hands and guide us straight to the Mun? Nope, we went away and had a look at YouTube or the wiki or just downright played around with stuff until it made sense or worked. Honestly, OP should probably put this down to experience and not bother anymore, this game obviously ain't for you.
  12. You can stack NERVAs with either docking ports or struts: You can easily attach them radially as well. Whatever floats your boat But yeah, once you work out long slow burns are the way to go the little Kerbol solar system is indeed, your oyster. Enjoy yourself out there.
  13. Vacuum an insulator? That sounds very wrong. It all depends on where the sun is. If you're in the suns path with no atmosphere and no magnetic field to help it would get very hot very quickly. If you're in shadow it will get very cold very fast. This is why space vehicles slowly rotate. Think chicken on a spit slowly barbequeing. Yummy.
  14. I built my first plane that behaves like a plane. I call it 'The Molerat'. After naked fame. Only atmospheric for now but one step at a time...
  15. My first working plane. Only atmospheric capabilities, but it flies real nice and goes fast. Nice...and fast. Nice.
  16. Ok so does the collapse of one space program mean your next starts from scratch completely. I mean no saved ships or sub assemblies? Nada. Or do we envisage the same guys getting up off the floor and starting again with the same set of plans and so keeping your saved ships and sub assemblies?
  17. Basically as many hitchhikers guide to the galaxy references and quotes as is humanly possible. Even Kerbally possible.
  18. As someone who has been using the sub assembly mod, and utterly loving it's Amazingness, I'm really, really hoping to be able to choose the root or principal part as well. I know there is a mod for that too but I didn't get it to work. Obviously my idiocy as others used it fine. However, how about loading a subassembly, holding down a generic key and then the next part you click on the subassembly when you pick it up becomes the root or principle part. That would be awesome. Otherwise .22 looks really nice to me. Looking forward to it lots.
  19. Pretty sure the main reason America went to the Moon was because they wanted to beat Russia to it and prove they were the real superpow-blah-blah-blah world dominating blah-blah-blah-best in the-blah-blah. (Source: First pages of this document here: http://docsteach.org/activities/13380/print ) Then again, maybe JFK and Nixon weren't exactly in their right minds anyway.
  20. Europa without a doubt. I'd want some kind of nuclear powered drilling/heating device, a stack of food, white wine and ciggies and a totally awesome submarine rover thingy so I could go and see what is living in that liquid water...gotta be something...right? Right guys? Gotta be.
  21. Yeah, I feel the same, a failing space program should be able to do just that and wither away into a bankrupt ball of shame. But then again, making players start over all the time might be against this policy of helping new players to enjoy the game. It's a tricky one to be fair.
