Can we make a list of things to do in KSP? (not just career missions) I've landed on a few bodies now and running out of ideas. I'll start with the obvious ones. REQUIREMENT: Must be a real tangible goal that makes sense 1. Leave atmosphere 2. Orbit 3. Flyby Mun/land probe on Mun 4. Manned return mission to Mun 5. Functional spaceplane 6. Flyby/land probe on Minmus 7. Manned return mission to Minmus 8. First docking/space station 9. Land a rover on Duna 10. Manned return mission to Duna 11. Flyby/land probe on Ike 12. Land probe on Eve 13. Flyby Gilly 14. Spaceplane to orbit 15. Flyby/probe to Moho 16. Flyby/land probe on Dres 17. Flyby/probe moons of Jool/Jool 18. Probe into Kerbol 19. Manned return mission to moons of Jool 20. Manned return mission to Moho 21. Flyby/land probe on Eeloo 22. Voyager probe (leave the system) 23. Manned return mission to Dres 24. Manned return mission to Eve 25. Manned return mission to Eelloo

Seen this on what not to suggest. Can we make it a discussion then?

Construction I’ve written this guide to discuss the construction system of KSP. Construction is necessary because KSP consists of a lot of planets/moons with nothing to do on them. Kerbals have little use in KSP, and the planned resources system although useful runs the risk of being minimalistic ala Kethane. As well as this construction would allow the players who have explored Kerbal system with a new task and occupation that so far mods like Kethane and Remotetech have attempted to fill. What construction solves: Something for Kerbals to do and a necessity to bring them instead of probe cores. Fully implement a resource system. Allow players to “colonise†and expand their space program. So the question for discussion is what to construct? Firstly, fuelling depots. It has been previously suggested that the KSC should have ability to refuel ships within a certain distance, rather than clicking “end flightâ€Â. So why not move this off-planet? Constructing a depot on a planet or moon that allows you to crossfeed fuel into any nearby ships would allow people to do exactly what Kethane simulates, run larger interplanetary missions and maintain extra planetary exploration. Secondly, new Space Centres: New tracking stations would be implementable with a “fog of war†similar to Remotetech – building new tracking stations further afield would give you more information and ability to control remotely probes and ships. New runway allows space planes to land and refuel on planets with atmospheres. New launch pads allows a landing, refuelling and launching spot for rockets. New VAB allows construction of rockets on other planets (think different sizes dependant on cost). New SPH allows construction of space planes (will not function without runway). Others: use your imagination - naval landing pads for example, rover construction lab, boat construction lab for full implementation of the exploration aspect. Generators to power the buildings, miners to generate fuel. Different generators eg. Geothermal for places like Eve or Moho, solar, nuclear (risk of overheat/meltdown) So essentially this doesn't sound v. different from Kethane, however not to send bases in one piece like Kethane, but build off-planet certain buildings (from scratch). This requires: Kerbals – buildings have a certain Kerbal requirement eg. 8 Kerbals to build a runway, 30 to build a new VAB. This would make hitchhiker containers, transporters etc necessary. It makes it important to take Kerbals and look after them, establish colonies. If you implemented Kerbal requirements later this would force you to establish colonies with food supplies etc. Blueprints – Maybe blueprints are bought with science points. More you research more you can build? Or more you earn. Blueprints are placed on the ground via a top-down screen allowing you to plan your base without causing lag. You could add lights, towers etc from this screen. Materials – rather than having one or too many resources, I recommend say, 2 – a iron-like material and a electronics type one, one common, one rare. The Construction Process You would buy blueprint eg. launch pad with science points. When you land on Mun you can EVA Kerbals, click blueprint screen and then top-down view place your building blueprint. Then you need Kerbals and materials, when it is ready click build and Kerbals stand around the blueprint, hammering etc till it is built. Now rockets can be refuelled here. If you build a VAB you can now build and launch rockets here – imagine the deltaV requirements for missions are much lower as you are on Mun! Imagine a spaceplane runway on Laythe! To reduce lag you could make it maximum of 6 blueprints in a construction area, this means bases have to be specialised. I may brainstorm more ideas later, please tell me what you think.

+1 good sir -
Rewrite the part descriptions

I agree with the OP, needless to say nobody else will -
An easter egg behind the VAB "Rip A.S.A.S."
Synapse replied to Pachi3080's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
RIPASAS should be the acronym for any new planets/moons added -
Construction tools and capabilities
Synapse replied to Ziggitz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
However it should be stock really -
True, I agree. However he talks as though SQUAD allow us access to their free game which they developed and we don't have a right to critisize it.
-
Woah, let me stop you there. People pay for this game. Customers, of which Squad provide a product. If that product malfunctions, customers have a right to explanations.
-
Why can't I get this to balance?

Duna - Polar Manned Expedition Objective: To perform tests and reconnaissance of the Northern ice-cap of Duna. Lift Off! After 4 hours of testing the equipment, training our Kerbonaut and making sure things don't explode, the mission is underway. Releasing some of our main engines, the Synapse Apollo-4 will be carried to a height of 100,000m on a single mainsail and four "Aerospike" engines. Now that the craft is out of Kerbin's atmosphere, it begins it's long lonely burn to Duna. Carried by a single atomic engine, fuel conservation is critical to ensure a safe return. The majestic red planet approaches! The Apollo-4 lander module detaches and burns towards a landing just short of the North Pole. Meanwhile, the orbiter module will remain in a polar orbit, controlled remotely from the lander module. Duna's ghostly plains await our plucky explorer. Touch down! Sonvis Kerman becomes first Kerbal to set foot on Duna. He eagerly sets to work collecting samples and exploring the Dunar landscape. Unfortunately, he can't stick around too long as the return journey needs to be made! The Dunar lander must now rendezvous in orbit with the orbiter module; if anything goes wrong Sonvis won't have enough fuel to get back to Kerbin! This is just what they teach you at the KSC, but the stakes are far higher. Another successful docking for cool-headed Sonvis. Desperately burning for home, Sonvis thinks of his family and whether he will get to see them again. Thankfully, saving some fuel from the lander allowed that final push to break orbit into Kerbin. Home sweet home! After 200 days away from home in the isolation of space, Sonvis Kerman splashes down. 8 hours later he was enjoying a hearty dinner at the Kerbal Space Center! Stock, no mechjeb etc.

Looking a lot more professional and polished. I think update the rest of the planets like this and a few more features and this will almost be a completed game!
-
I'm on my way to Laythe in a new ship, you were right that SRBs for some reason lag everything up. I used 5 mainsails and 4 aerospikes this time to get it into orbit. Dat 30 minute burn...
-
To listen to the space whales, away from the noisy environment of the planets. Important studies need to be done on them.

Ranz it seems to me that the rules are directed at preventing outbursts such as yours and Chris's sarcastic comments just now, but please if you want to discuss this discuss it in the forums forum, as I don't want to derail general discussion. Let's not discuss the forum rules here, I just didn't know where the forums forum was. Thank you.

This was inspired by the planetary docking thread. I've decided that the next thing I'd like to do is make a station outside of Eeeloo orbit. Can anyone help me plan this? What kind of hardware do you need to establish such an orbit? I know I'll need more solar panels to account for the distance from Kerbol.

I've posted on the Forums forum. It may or may not be fairly justifiable, but I at least have said my piece.
-
Can somebody please tell me where to direct a complaint? (regarding forums). Thank you.
-
Yeah, punching people is great...

Those weren't necessary. And I believe we landed on the moon shortly after in the next Apollo mission. Just, not 1969. Also are you saying we had the capability to land on the moon but NOT the capability to fake it?
-
Well yeah, but I thought the gravity was too.
