  1. Wow. Love it and the previous versions. IX is awesome! Gotta take some time and work on Dunebug! Would love to see what you can do with all of the stuff you've managed in the Munbug versions.
  2. Yeah she's what I'd call...ahhh..."extremely responsive." For most flight ops I never throttle up past 40-50%. At just a tap of throttle on the VTOL engines she'll float right up. This is one plane where less throttle is more. With a good downhill run with the rover wheels helping you can take off with no jet assist.
  3. Did you get it to orbit? Always wondered about using KAS winches to create an orbital supply line...
  4. Okay so here's my post, the Intrepid, my space agency's first attempt at a truly reusable round trip vessel for exploring the Kerbol system. Her test mission to Duna went relatively well, but exposed some flaws in her design which is leading me to redesigning her engineering spaces. The test payload included 4 Kethane/Ore probes, a station core for deployment over duna, and a permanent Duna base equipped with two small rovers. The ship came home with something like 8k delta V left, so I'd say she is more than capable of delivering considerable payload to most locations. The issue I have with the current engine configuration is a wobble that necessitated emergency quantum strutting. The B9 3.75m -> 2.5m adapters aren't the strongest parts ever made, so in the next version there will be struts helping to secure them. Oh, by the way, the part count wasn't horrible either. Kept it as low as possible and my computer didn't have to slow down at all to run it smoothly. Which is a huge plus with big ships. The key is to use the largest parts you can afford, hence 4x 3.75m tanks instead of 8x 2.5m tanks.
  5. Protractor and Engineer x2. Kethane is like...should be included in stock. There is a game without kethane?? If you're mainly interested in making the game more interesting/giving it purpose, you can always try ISA Mapsat, Kethane, and Remote Tech. Makes things a bit more complicated/interesting, gives a purpose to some of the launches you do. Setting up GPS networks, sending mapping probes to map out your landing zone, etc.
  6. Its not as efficient to carry kethane up to a refinery. Sure, it takes more tanks (one tank for monoprop, one for LF/Oxo, one for xenon, etc.) but the density of kethane vs the refined product makes it a better idea. The best idea is to have the kethane drills+converter as one unit on the ground, and leave it behind when you go back up to orbit to refuel your station/ship/etc. Running that way, I keep a very large fuel depot in 20km orbit of the mun fueled up for stopping ships. Same setup over Ike, planning on setting up over Gilly and Vall sooner or later. Might wait till after .21's save wipe for that.
  7. I'm waiting to post my design until after it completes its shakedown cruise to duna. Should have more than enough Dv to deliver the test cargo of station, ground base, rovers, and a kethane satellite. Might include a solar plane...hmmm...
  8. This is one of my first posts on the forum, and I needed to make it. Thank you a million times Temstar for providing my space agency with a reliable fleet of lifter vehicles. These things work great each and every time. Check the payload weight, pick the appropriate lifter, subassembly it on there with your awesome perfected subassemblies, and 100% guarantee it'll reach a 100km circular orbit. Well, provided Jeb doesn't get fancy with the flying of course.
  9. Huge homeworld fan here too. Love the designs, keep 'em coming.
  10. This is my first ship I've thought worthy of submission. Inspired by a rover/plane I saw online somewhere, I decided to build my own for exploring Kerbin and/or laythe one day. Building off of the stock Aeris 3A jet, I bring to you the Aeris 3A-RV. Action Groups: 1: Toggles VTOL Engines 2: Toggles Primary Jet Engine Thats it. Not too complicated, eh? Moar pics. http://imgur.com/a/j2Vqn Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3nz653oqltc1p99/Aeris%203A-RV.craft She handles pretty well in VTOL mode and cruises pretty nicely in plane mode. She'll take off straight up and if you're a decent enough pilot you can bring her down very slowly (I haven't managed a perfect vertical landing yet, but very slow landings yes.) In rover mode she drives decent, just need to keep in mind the VTOL engines hanging under the wings. She can navigate some small lips, like climbing back up onto the runway, with a small boost from her rear mounted jet. But be careful, as shown in the last pic, you can easily destroy the VTOL engines by driving off said lip too fast. At 37 parts she's easy on the PC too. Last but not least, the top mounted docking port allows for easy transportation/re-supply/storage. Enjoy.
