  1. I have been dabbeling a bit with this craft. It's not done yet. lacks some fuel lines and some other comodities. It gets into LKO with allmost 85% of the fuel left. The front part can be decoupled and will become a nerva powered space plane with about 8300dv. Both parts should be able to land seperately. At the moent it lacks RCS to do orbital maneuvres to dock and land. The atmospheric drive module allso have a good bit of dv left and should be able to get itselv to minimus or something. If i get the challenge spirit going I will se if I can't make a trip somwhere with this one. If noone object that it fits the rules for this challenge.
  2. Instead of building a booster stage for an ssto. Why don't you just allow one refueling in low orbit instead ? Or is it intended that you can use your booster stage for a final push out of low orbit ?
  3. I agree with that. Getting enough air should not be a problem. It's just too bad that they have not counted a air temprature requirement. And made their precooler part actually do something.
  4. I made one that I think should fin in your non exploit category. Pretty much the same as the airhog. But all the air intakes has free line of sight to the air. None of them are stacked behind eachother. (2145 + 3103) / (3480 + 3520) = 5248 / 7000 = 0,75 75 points. I guess we can call this one Jeb's air plow.
  5. No... The spirit of the challange fits with you screen name, but still. No.
  6. With (2287LF + 3464OX left / 3480LF + 3520OX max ) * 100 = 82,17% fuel carried into a 100x100KM orbit. Will see if I can't get a better version made. But at least it's a half decent first attempt. (stock + mechjeb.)
  7. Seems you have found a huge flaw in kerbal physics. A plane with the centre og gravity very far ahead of the centre of lift should only be stable going straight up or straight down. Or in a ballistic trajectory.
  8. My first attempt. Completely stock. Gliding nicely at 12,6m/s It stalled out at around 11M/s at a pitch of 30 degrees. With more fidling I might get a better result.
  9. It seems Jeb Kerbal has goten sick on Laythe and we need to send out a rescue mission since they don't have the resouces to threat Jeb on Laythe. They have a return craft. But it will not be fuled and ready to return before it will be to late for Jeb. So we need you to build a mission to Laythe and return in as little time as possible. We will spare no exspence in this mission. The crew on laythe have the resources to get Jeb up into orbit of laythe and bring that craft back down again to carry the rest of the crew home. But this will eat into the safety resources for their own transfer home. So if you can bring a lander to pick Jeb up on the surface that would be best. That would have to be a unmanned craft with space for Jeb. Or a manned craft. The craft that you send to laythe from kerbin needs to have room for a pilot and a physician in adition to the empty seat for Jeb. As he is ill we would prefer that he and the physician had a hitchhiker container for their use witch could be used as a sickbay for the journey. Challenge rules: Mechjeb allowed. FAR allowed. Seperate scoring category for Deadly reentry. Stock parts. The rescue craft needs to be the first launch. You can send as many launches in adition to this as you want. But they will be launched just after the rescue craft or later. So if you ship extra fuel for the return trip. You will ned to send that with the same speed as the main craft. The rescue transport craft neds to have a hitchiker container and a cockpit module. The rest up to the constructor. 2 kerbals minimum for the trip(doc and pilot). Get to Laythe and get into an orbit around Laythe then get back to Kerbin as soon as possible. No infinite fuel. Scoring: The shortest mission time wins. Bringing an unmanned lander and landing and launching back into orbit from laythe and you can subtract 100 days from the total mission time. Manned lander and you can substract 200 days. Any extra kerbals over the minimum 2. substract 10 days per kerbal. External seating not allowed. Good luck and have a speedy flight to Jool. Suggestions for alterations of the rules, allowed or disallowed alternate mods will be considered.
  10. After a new design. Some tweaking. A good few laps around the planet. 2 oxidizer used. Or at least 2 by rules about rounding. On a craft above 10 tons.
  11. 30,7T up to a stable orbit with 9 oxidizer spent.
  12. Managed to get into a 133/100km orbit with a starting weight of around 27T Got up to height with jets only and then circulized as much as possible with rcs, 0 oxidizer used. All the rocket fuel left to spend for the two nervas on the ship.
  13. I made a very small SSTO that can reach orbit with less then 100 liquid fuel spent. Got up too a 120km orbit with 104 liquid fuel spent. Gets up to a circular orbit on it's jet engine. Then it has two of the smallest rockest in the game to give it the last nudge. The SSTO comes complete with rcs thrusters and a docking hatch ofcourse. And enough mono fuel for docking manoeuvres.
