  1. I feel your frustration. I too have tried getting the hang of rendezvous - my only success wound up using far too much fuel to return safely. I know how to match relative velocities, but I usually wind up with the same issues. I'm not about to give up on the game because of it, but I think manual rendezvous will have to wait.
  2. So, in other words, no change from normal rocket construction?
  3. Another visually spectacular picture. I really enjoy your screenshots.
  4. I've tried installing this mod in a few different ways - as advised in the OP, as well as in the old way and also as it appears in the folder... none of these seem to work. I do not see the tutorials or the training mission appearing in my game menu. What's wrong here?
  5. Why did you divide your tech tree between Apollo 13 and 14?
  6. It was definitely worth the cost to buy one of these 3D Kerbals. I would have bought all 3 but I think then, my wife wouldn't have been as understanding.
  7. I can't get that one to work. The parts descriptions use English words but no grammar, and there are no textures showing for the parts. So I tried it and passed on it.
  8. Your black and yellow flight suit goes very nicely with Nutt007's crash test helmet. Thank you both!
  9. I'm inclined to agree, on all counts. I want to be able to do these things myself, but honestly, I spent four hours last night trying to line up a rendezvous and it was in vain. I can blame that on the inability to easily fine-tune a node's location without messing it up or losing it, and the difficulty in seeing a maneuver's effects clearly when orbits are close together (like 175 and 200km).Finally accomplished it today, but it should not have been so hard to understand when I know what I'm supposed to be doing, and the system is impeding the how.
  10. Yeah, but if you're using MechJeb, you might as well let it do all that for you, too. The idea is to wean myself off it. Also, SmartASS doesn't do a thing for repositioning a maneuver node. It doesn't let you slide the focus body to a better position on your screen so that yuour entire orbit is visible but close enough to work with and it doesn't lock the maneuver axes while you move the inner ring.
  11. Yeah! Rather than being able to designate a maneuver precisely at a given point, players should have to fumble with the little ring like real astronauts do!
  12. Well, I certainly find it the opposite. I can do docking in my sleep, but rendezvous is a pain in the ass. I suppose it would be less annoying if the map screen and maneuver nodes were easier to work with. I hate how if you're one pixel off when moving the ring, it applies a little thrust in whatever direction.
  13. I've been playing for just about a month now, and I'm finally taking on the challenge of manual rendezvous. Docking is easy for me; it's the getting there that's tough: I did run out of fuel on the Apollo CSM but I was close enough that I decided to keep on with it. Probably could have made it on RCS alone from that point. Regardless, no robots were used in the making of this historic docking.
  14. 1) That's handled by the GPU on your video card. If your processor is doing that work, your video card is really feeble. 2) There aren't that many DLLs and their relative size is extremely low. I'd wager that all the DLLs for your mods combined are smaller than an average mod part.
  15. You had me at "very precise while it matters". Just having a radar altimeter that doesn't require IVA makes this a must for me. Thanks.
  16. Mods will surely increase load times, and may slow down the VAB - but in general they should not affect framerate or processing speed. After all, that's why they are pre-loaded.
  17. I hate to nitpick, because it's exciting to hear about your trip and see the awesome pics... but that's Apollo 15. That's David Scott's suit. Along with John Young and Pete Conrad (who shared my birthday!), he is my favorite astronaut - also we may be related. My wife and I are planning to return to DC for our "second honeymoon" next year and this museum is at the top of our list to see.
  18. This is amazing - it's even more than what I imagined it could be. Your original plugin was great but this is perfect - visually appealing, providing all the information one would need without being obtrusive or too "busy" in appearance. I nominate this for Best Plugin EVAR.
  19. My wife always laughs because, the moment just before two craft dock, I always yell "Now, KISS!"
  20. I love that design, it is functional and attractive and fairly authentic too!
  21. KAO, that's a sexy capsule. What mods did you use?
  22. Congratulations! Compared to rendezvous, the docking part is easy. I highly recommend Blizzy's docking tutorial thread and video, and install the docking trainer scenario he made for in-game practice.
  23. Yet, I'm not the only one who couldn't easily discern it... so a few words of explanation on your part could have spared all that confusion and speculation. "Guess what my issue is" isn't the best way to get a point across. Troubleshooting is much easier when you provide all the data you can. It's only "easily discernible" to you because you were there.
