may i present the White Bird(because i don't have black plain parts) its a capable of orbiter just and has a range of over a full lap of the world esey to fly unlike the origanal and did i mention fast relay fast with a good glide ratio and can take of at around 200-300 mp/s (only mod used is B9)
-
so i took this challenge to its reductio ad absurdum and challenged my self to get to orbit the fastest posable time with an ssto space plain and only took 4:22 in a craft that only Jeb was able to fly
-
nice flight stardust0123 but couldn't you have landed on the runway it only costs you a minute or 2, and if your woried abought landing on the runways then i might have stayed in first place on hard mode, Gaarrrr! but all in all it was a good flight and a nice craft well done

The "no-engined" flyer challenge!
searlefm replied to Themohawkninja's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
dshuck that is no plane its a kerbal roller coaster equivalent with absolutely NO practical use and Scott_H as it's timesing mutable number with decimal places (manly the decimals) i just used my calculator that is a basic scientific one (the Casio fx-83GT PLUS and asumed it was in M 1 math mode that is basic with order of priority) and i entered the equation with bracts as Themohawkninja originally wrote it out for scoring. so i was under the assumption it was correct especially as i didn't bother checking after checking my log's on it i found it was in a different set up as i'd been doing orbital equation on the blasted thing and it treated the last bracketed number as a square not a times, leading me to accidentally overstating my score by only 1.6 million, my bad. more to the point Scott_H that thing looks useful and cool well done indeed -
The "no-engined" flyer challenge!
searlefm replied to Themohawkninja's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
thanks all tho it took me around 10 minutes to get one of those to take of as it just tryed to frount flip after that it was piss easy to back flip geting up speed as it would not do anything else regardless of what buttons i pressed once it got beyond 20mp/s. i did go up to 500mp/s but it self destructed so I'm only counting when it was controllable(well kind of controllable ) -

The "no-engined" flyer challenge!
searlefm replied to Themohawkninja's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
SO I did a 11 kerbal flight, why you say because the more kerbals the more points you get, especially as you did not set an upper limit it weighs in at 5.72 unkerbaled 6.12 when full i achieved a speed of 420.1 mp/s so i get speed times mass (number of kerbals +1) giving me 420.1 * 6.12 (12) so i get 30852.144 you may call me the winner now unless you with to have a thing with evermore kerbals and then it will just be silly and the aftermath is 11 broken kerbals -
may i present the 650 (a slightly modified version of an aircraft i used on a different challenge (the 700 challenge)) so i was over the ice cap and circling away high in only 15 minutes and managed a clean landing by the 18 minute mark, then i immediately took of and headed back to the space center. Once i got to the space center i decided to turn far to tight caucusing the non-strutted craft to collide engines wing and genuinely itself together that ripped the engines from the craft. And then somehow landed far far far to fast loosing a wing but bob survived. somehow i had enoth fule just to make it, all in all it was a good flight totaling in at 38:43 and would have taken bloody hours if i flew the thing in low atmosphere only.
-
well i thought the hard mode would be hard and after messing around with sled designs and falling alot i moved onto The 700 i met the challenge in 51 seconds and then kept going to the full minute but i began to flat spin at 59 seconds bloody flame out
-
so pointless but still epic
-
the most kerbal of air craft ever shame it only lasted 1 more second before it self destructed and took my save with it V2 definitely needs an extra engine
-
read the challenge thread rules, as to attempt this you'r self as well. not to mention this is an easy challenge to most kerbal veterans and as you have not banned mods they are still allowed so anyone could just hyper edit this.

OK i was wrong i was treating the equivalent mass of the deep space hydrogen as being mass X acceleration, that is only correct at relatively slow speeds. so yer i was wrong, moving on. an impact is the mass X acceleration over the squared root of 1 minus the velocity squared over the speed of light squared, this predicts compleatly the opasit to what i started incorrectly, instead when you exceed the speed of light your momentum would become a negative value. this would mean the equation of impale would lead to silly results of having a negative value meaning no giant plasma trails, instead i don't know as iv not a clue what a negative impact value would create, Have any of you?

i could not reach 1 minute other wise all bugs abuse aside what did you think of the launch? -
Fastest Drop Pod from Orbit to Landing
searlefm replied to Zack's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
so 61 second till i hit the ground from orbit (burn starts at 0:22 ground collation 1:21 motionless 1:30). it might not be safe and properly terrifying but its fart and that's what counts even tho i might be braking the spirit of the challenge. landing speed 93.8 mp/s burn down the whole flight i could dock that monstrosity to a station but no that would be silly its a speed machine nothing else, tho do hope its the fastest as it was awesome to fly. -
OK lets try less is more and closer then only after launch did bob decide to quit the space program 297.1 mp/s during the pass but bob freaked out alot
-
well this challenge looks quick and fun so with no further to do i present A S.S.L.A.V i got the tower at 250.4 mp/s? wile only achieving a maximum speed of 291mp/s that was a little slow for the number of engines if you ask me.
-
ok so a double post i know but hear is my second go with my vanilla copy of the game to make an actual ODST drop pod i hope you lot enjoy There was going to be 2 pics hear but frappes stopped responding temporarily also thowes wiglets did not add drag and the whole thing wanted to go sideways so i included the one reentry pic that looked good. also the parashoot + sepratrons where far to pewerfull and i gained like 300m when i fired them togeathere.
-
Patupi that is a cool drop pod but is relay quite complex and can the Kerbal get out or not?
-
so like mine but it lands on land and has explosive doors
-
oh.. yer i have be meaning to ask why is the soeiv mod banned?
-
you certainly did ''brush up'' on your design .... oh god that was a bad pun

Fastest Drop Pod from Orbit to Landing

wow BahamutoD that is an awesome video and some cool builds well i best launch my vanilla copy as i think i could do something cool like that expect to see it soonisn from me also Amphiprion that is insane. eddit: after a few hours of useing a cluster of 33 mainsails to De-orbit my self and then disintegrating with out deadly reentry from the 100G's of force experienced -
so i will get this out the way first of all i used mods the B9 mod for the air brakes and nova punch for the 1/2 meter tank wile running with deadly reentry moving on hears the pics of unpowered without parachute totaling at 17 parts(19 if you include kerbals them self) unfortunately the lander broke on the water but the Kerbals survived with only some broken what ever a Kerbal has as bones
