  1. Part clipping. Vessels don't have collisions with themselves. While the probe is loose in the bay it's technically considered a separate vessel and thus will remain in the bay, but the engines are on the same vessel and thus can overlap all they want.
  2. I suppose the answer would be "moar boosters". Though actually you might be able to get by with less boosters: Chop off two of those nuke engines and the weight reduction might give you better performance, unless you need them for something specific that I'm not considering. I don't have much experience with FAR, but I think this would still apply.
  3. Any chance you're going to do the Gloster Meteor or the Hawker Hurricane or Hunter? Also, which mods do you use?
  4. Have you tried it on different planets, with different angles to the sun?
  5. Kind of an awkward problem to have. (Ejectile dysfunction? ) In all seriousness, though, everyone here is right, make sure the parachute is on the correct (usually the last/top) stage. Also keep in mind that parachutes don't eject until 23km altitude or below, and they don't fully inflate until 500m above the surface. Also important: Please ensure you are using the correct type of parachute; either the Mk16, the Mk16-XL, or the Mk2-R. The Mk25 is a drogue, and it's useless for actually landing, and only good for slowing things down.
  6. "Eh screw it, I didn't need those."
  7. What you've basically described is a thermal rocket.
  8. . . . When you accidentally hit spacebar and release the first-stage boosters a few minutes too early, and decide "eh screw it, I didn't need those anyway". (SSTO: Superfluous Stages to Orbit.)
  9. It might be a hitbox/suspension issue, similar things happen with landing legs. You probably only need four tires instead of six, though. (Also, nice design, a heck of a lot better than most of my ground vehicles.)
  10. Make part multi-connections functional (like part welding mods). This would allow for ring-shaped stations and such, among many, many others.
  11. In my opinion, the fact that their creations don't always stay in space is the reason that none of their buildings are on the surface: they're all underground due to the common fear of rockets crashing into them. Only a select few structures (the part shop in one of the recent update cinematics, as well as all buildings of the KSC) are aboveground.
  12. Which is why his crew aren't considered the first people in orbit. EDIT: Yes, I realize you're joking.
  13. Rule of thumb: It's not an orbit if you have to keep firing your thrusters to keep it from falling.
  14. Granted. It's a lens made of an actual fish eyeball. I wish NEAR didn't automatically shut down on the x64 version of KSP.
  15. I'm all for adding a second team (the Blue Suits is commonly cited), primarily because if the Orange Suits get a fourth member they won't be able to all fit into the Mark 1-2 Pod
  16. Well, atmospheric reentry, for one. Not to mention antennae can and will snap off if they hit something.
  17. So . . . The probe just sort of rattles around in the cargo bay? That doesn't seem very safe . . . Other than that, a sound design. I still can't figure out how to make reliable SSTOs
  18. I first discovered the Blast Awesomeness variable when fiddling with the Alt+F2 readout. I was amused when I saw it.
  19. I think stack-mounted pusher and puller propellers (or simply one type of propeller with a pusher/puller tweakable option), plus some kind of radially-mounted ducted fan, would be awesome. Equally awesome would be a tweakable option to set the size of said propellers, scaling their thrust and power consumption appropriately.
  20. Sticking to topic. IMO, no one should really be complaining about the VP of Google breaking a skydiving record. It's his money, he spends it how he wants.
  21. I can attest that KJR does work (though not for the REALLY heavy stuff) because it "smooths out" the game's physics, so that they start gradually, rather than with a jolt like in the stock game.
  22. I think that an auto-executing maneuver feature would be nice (especially for us ADHD folks who tab out and forget to turn the throttle off when we're supposed to) but it does smack a bit of autopilot. Not that I'm against autopilot, mind you (I'm a big MechJeb fan) but it's not really in the spirit of the stock game. I'd support it, but many others probably won't.
