  1. Imagine flying your merry little ship to Jool and suddenly this 50-man space base just strolls past... How many RCS blocks are on that thing to even turn it?
  2. I dread to see how it's launcher looks like, if it's meant to get there in one piece...
  3. How is a "light fighter" clocking in at about 100 tons?
  4. If that thing is capable of being launched in one stage, you have my respect. On the other hand, I've finally finished the Tribunal. "Capable of bringing two Sentinels and a small contingent of defensive probes across the system, the Tribunals serve as large scientific research stations, only assigned to planets of interest... or at war." And the most ironic thing is, it has LESS parts than a Sentinel. The Sentinel clocks in at a whopping 388 parts whereas the Tribunal is only 260.
  5. Probably due to the torque tearing your ship apart when the magnetic clamps finally engaged. Or the Kraken deciding to pay a visit, but he rarely graces LKO. On your schematic, I noticed that your lander stage is pretty much held together by the tiny structural beams, which while pretty, aren't really good for docking anything bigger than a probe.' I suggest you either swap it out, or use the tried-and-tested method, strut the living daylights out of it. Make sure no piece is connected only to one other piece. The quicksave is your friend here. I've saved many a ship just by hitting the emergency quicksave load button.
  6. That moment when your ship that is 1/8th the size of that has 340 parts minus the launch stage...
  7. I think if the tonnage of the two versions is pretty similar, and they behave the same, it can be counted in. But then again, I don't really think Macey's going to accept more than one ship from each of us at most, seeing how many choices there are. Which means no giant fleets of ships coming from one guy... My Sentinel's Duna trip had screenshots of former flights up till LKO, because I was too busy fighting back the lag to get screenshots.
  8. I managed to get my Sentinel to Duna and pancake it on Eve as the first ship I've ever built to get beyond Kerbin, I think you'll be fine. Also, how about docking a interplanetary drive onto your ship and launching it straight from LKO using the drive's engines?
  9. Go easy on the guy, man, it's not like he's seen what your ships can do to things with less than 3 layers of hull...
  10. Don't really have to come back unless you're going for no-deaths. Just see how far you can go.
  11. Going into space using nothing but toroidal fuel tanks. FOR SCIENCE.
  12. Decided to go a little ambitious on this one, seeing the vague rules. TOTALLY WORKING AS INTENDED.
  13. HOCGaming has several ring designs you might want to check out on his channel. He's trying to attain artificial gravity using stock parts, but it should give you a general idea.
  14. Depends on which you find more suited to the task. Right now, I don't think refueling matters much, seeing as there'll be refueling stations mostly everywhere. If you say your ship's capable of being refueled, I say just do it and go on with your trip. @Spartwo It's my bad, I forgot sarcasm doesn't usually carry across the Net.
  15. I'm not implying the Sentinel is best, that was a sarcastic remark on my part, seeing as everyone was comparing fuel storage. The Sentinel was built for the sole purpose of going to where it is sent, dropping probes around it's target, flying off to another target, dropping probes, then deorbited.
  16. This proves that the Sentinel is best vessel... that is, if you don't mind lugging half a dozen tons of fuel tank behind you and refueling that if you want to EVER get home...
  17. That... is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Put docking ports on all the exposed tank ends, and post it as a challenge on the challenge thread. "How many ships can you dock to this giant ball of tanks?"
  18. @flinch: Only if you're going for Spiritwolf. Plus, taken into account how many ships we've sent him that actually CAN get to Laythe, unless he's seriously considering 20v20 ship battles over it, I think he's also going to focus on ships that can get to other planets as well.
  19. Chozo is compiling the complete submissions into a list which he will then send to Macey, as well as post here. Only complete ones, mind you, those without documentation or are just a picture and a download link are not counted.
  20. Macey's file repository is here. http://www./?f8mtf5qlynf4q It's where I get ships to shoot. Make sure you put a probe core on and leave the capsule empty if you don't want deaths.
  21. Doesn't take much to take down a Shade, just a clever analysis of it's structure. 2 pocket I-beams with 8 angled Separtrons each is enough to tear the stuffing out of a Shade, and then some. The Shade's wings have an impact tolerance of 15, which made it resist Macey's Mosquito missiles which had an impact tolerance of 10. I-beams have an impact tolerance of 80, meaning it can technically shoot down the Spirit of Kerbin as well.
  22. Today, I made Bob smile, for probably the first time ever since he's been with us. It took a 20 kilometer drive away with Bill from the VAB and Jeb's crazy antics to finally calm his nerves.
  23. The Sentinel's about 30 tons plus it's transfer stage. He'll probably send the Spiritwolf ships manually and edit in the Hanland ones as needed, but it depends on how many submissions he plans on having. My computer's too weak to handle launches, I barely made it to orbit at 1fps with my Sentinel. At this rate, 10 minute burns are out of the question. Till I can get my hands on a better computer this weekend, anyone mind flying the Sentinel up to Laythe and dropping random rovers and probes for me as a proof-of-travel for this version of the Sentinel?
  24. Macey doesn't like ramming with manned ships list I checked. I understand him, me not really liking kerbals on the Lost list, hostile or naught. Today I shall try to send the Sentinel to Jool. Any tips on aerobrake height?
  25. It's better than killing them, that's for sure. Seconded.
