  1. Still waiting on Macey, once he gets his first episode up we'll see exactly what kind of ships he needs. As for attaching tiny parts, do it from the side, it's easier.
  2. My attempt with the Ocean Blue launcher. 5.96t to orbit. EDIT: How do you embed again? The album is here.
  3. Well, if one were allowed to control the opponent's ship or any part of of it, he might as well just deorbit the entire ship and win.
  4. Sounds fun. I'll give it a shot using all stock.
  5. And my research is DONE This little babby missile is capable of burning through SEVEN layers of 2x2 structural panels, using nothing but the power of sepratrons. Just RCS-fly it right next to your target and hit space. It's also stackable.
  6. I'll see what I can make Sounds fun. EDIT: But if you dock, you become part of the enemy ship, which means you'll effectively be using his own ship against him, which is not allowed in fights...
  7. ^ That would work, but no-one would really coat ships in the stuff just to block a missile. And a Shade has 6. But it's a great concept, I have to say. Never thought of solar panels that way.
  8. Structural pylon the tip. Those babies have 999 impact tolerance.
  9. LV-N's are hard to armour, due to spontaneous cowling detonation. But you could cover it up with the long and thin structural wings, maybe build it out like my Tribunal:
  10. Tests have shown that even the best armour is ineffective against any decent missile, so don't worry. On the other hand, remember I said I was checking out Laythe? Well, I flew past it when I noticed I didn't have enough fuel for a perfect orbit, then I flew past Vall, then Tylo, and now I'm going to Laythe again. Why is the Jool system so crowded?! I blame my pilot being Jebediah. EDIT: I ended up suicide-aerobraking the Sentinel on Laythe because it was going to throw me out of the system, and I needed proof of travel to LAYTHE. Jebediah's not too put out about having to splash around a bit. Well, at least he has two rovers to play with.
  11. Thank goodness this is my first trip to Jool, on my first interplanetary ship I've ever built. Just did a Tylo flyby, dropped off a probe, I'm going to check out Laythe next
  12. Did they nerf LV-N's? I seem to be running out of fuel faster...
  13. I know that feel man, I've got 2 Sentinels and 4 Surveyors I have to dock to the Tribunal before I drag the lot to Jool.
  14. Did Chozo compile a list of ships yet? I'm waiting to see how many we actually sent to him. Also, I'm sending my Sentinel to Jool at last, so wish me luck
  15. Any way to ensure that 2 LV-N's stuck on via bi-adapters don't spontaneously deconstruct upon fairing jettison?
  16. Mucking around on other planets doesn't require that much science other than burning for 20 minutes. (what I do, because I suck at command nodes) All you do is literally burn till you're not orbiting Kerbin but the Sun, then set a node to burn either backwards (if you're visiting the inner planets) or forwards (if you're going to Duna or the outer planets), spin that around till you get an encounter, hit random adjustment buttons, burn and finally burn backwards once more to get into your target's gravity well. Aerobraking and the rest is when you're more experienced, don't worry about them. As I said before, YouTube is your best friend for figuring these things out. There are many good tutorials out there that'll get you set up and throwing probes in no time.
  17. Scientific knowledge isn't really required unless you're those hardcore type who like to run around screaming "OPTIMIZE EVERYTHING!" Most of the fun in this game is just watching stuff you made blow up, and building to get better and better. As for how much you need to know about the numbers, you don't. Slap a rocket onto a tank, see how far it flies, rinse and repeat. After a while, you'll start to notice how certain engines work better in certain conditions, which ones saved more fuel for your orbit, etc, etc. And for all the trajectory planning? Again, unless you REALLY want to have an optimal flight path using the least dV,all you pretty much need to know is when to burn and when to stop. Here's where YouTube will help a LOT. A little starter tip: Two nuclear engines strapped to a '32 Rockomax will get any decent shuttle to Jool, but only if already in orbit beforehand.
  18. I'm going to put my ships round Jool. Easy to reach, easy to fly anywhere in her SOI. Oh, is there any way to decouple bi-adapted NERVA's? If not, I'll have to build my launch stage AROUND my Tribunal, not below it...
  19. With Shepard's Kerbylon station a few pages back, orbital refueling is the least of your problems How much fuel does it carry in it's orbital stage?
  20. I like the Star Wars reference How is that thing supposed to refuel or even get to Laythe proper? Does it have like strategically placed '64 tanks in those arms?
  21. If I'm not mistaken, isn't there already a fighter with the name Sai with anti-capital ship SRB's?
  22. That's the problem of any big refueling station. Especially when you're having huge ships docked to it. Best way would be to build a small fuel tug to lug fuel over.
