[Stopped] 6.4x Kerbol System v2.0.1 - RSS Config [11/16/14]
NathanKell replied to Raptor831's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
No, EVE Overhaul works fine. It does work differently. Win x64 is buggy and crashy and not recommended; Linux x64 is rock solid. -
Additive means range between two stations is not the same as the range of either station. For two stations A and B, where A has a lower range than B: Let range_A = if(A has dish AND dish is pointed at then (dish) else sum(range of each omni on A, where the range of all but the longest-ranged is * multiplier) Let range_B = the same for B. Maximum range between A and B: range_A + sqrt(range_A * range_ You see why "the current satellite's omni range" is not actually a meaningful concept, since it's dependent on what you're trying to talk to.

You're back! Woohoo! And with some awesome new toys!

Soyuz 7K-T & 7K-OK - MERGED WITH SALYUT PACK
NathanKell replied to raidernick's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Looking good! I suggest using the gold foil texture and normal map from Proc Parts; e-dog made the normal map and either replaced or edited my diffuse map. It should work well for you. -
The Official Kerbin Cup Tournament Thread - Final Entries Posted
NathanKell replied to Rowsdower's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Majorjim: yes, with the exception of the new model for the LV-T45 which is Lack's from SXT with a larger nozzle (although I did the texture). The mod is now up -

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
NathanKell replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Which is only true because Kerbin is the size of a softball, but hey. Upper stage TWR is not really the issue, anyway; what matters is stage time vs time to apoapsis. So long as stage time is only a bit higher than this at separation, you'll be fine. Thus needed TWR for an upper stage is directly dependent on how much delta v it contributes, which in turn is dependent on lower stage(s)' contribution.- 14,073 replies

[1.0.5] Reflection Plugin Continued 2.0
NathanKell replied to Starwaster's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yes, FASA does come with it. -
https://github.com/NathanKell/RealSolarSystem/wiki/PQSMods-supported-in-the-cfg is the collected docs, although there are I think more supported now than there were. I suggest usnig Kittoppia to edit the values ingame. What I said just now regarding Minmus has no bearing on what I said before; just because it doesn't use a specific PQSMod doesn't mean you can't up the deformity of the others.

Very nice indeed!

Reaching for the Clouds Description: As Reaching for the Stars became increasingly plane-focused, I decided to release a separate pack without alternate-history parts. This pack includes different-colored textures for Procedural Wings and RealChute, black textures for most C7 parts and a TiberDyne nosecone, new rescaled copies of parts from Firespitter, Taverio's Pizza and Aerospace, a proc part that will count as shielding for FAR, TweakScale tweaks, some rescales of the NP2 sharp nosecone, a smaller antenna, and two new cockpits. The first is Mettwurst's Mettworks inline cockpit, modeled on that of the F-104; the second is my repaint of an AIES nosecone, modeled on the M.52 cockpit. Includes Mettworks Inline Cockpit by Mettwurst, retextured. Used with permission. Includes cfg rescales/clone parts or derivative textures from the following mods (used with permission/within license). All assets are under their respective licenses. AIES by the commendable carmics Firespitter by the superb Snjo NovaPunch 2 by the top-notch Tiberion Procedural Wings by the delightful DYJ SXT by the laudable Lack Taverio's Pizza and Aerospace is again by the terrific Taverius. Instructions: Extract RftC folder inside archive to GameData Requirements: Firespitter is required for texture-switching. TweakScale is highly recommended; parts will not function as designed without it. See above for which mods' parts are rescaled etc. You will need the mod if you want the RftC version(s) of the part(s). Best with Realism Overhaul. Download(download "Source code.zip" from latest release, extract RftC folder to KSP/GameData GitHub License CC-BY-NC-SA Things you can make with this: I-16 F4F-2 F-100A Blackbird-inspired

[0.90]NEAR: A Simpler Aerodynamics Model v1.3.1 12/16/14
NathanKell replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Saturn V gravity losses: ~1800m/s. Saturn V drag losses: ~100m/s. Imagine just what kind of TWR you would need (and what kind of unobtainium-shielded rocket) to manage to equalize those two and survive. -
Minmus doesn't have a heightmap.

[1.0.5] Advanced Jet Engine v2.6.1 - Feb 1
NathanKell replied to camlost's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well, it was a bit more than 10 minutes because I got distracted, but I did finally update the dll to be compiled against the latest *released* FAR. Thanks! -
[1.0.5] Advanced Jet Engine v2.6.1 - Feb 1
NathanKell replied to camlost's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
In about 10 minutes. I had compiled against the latest dev release of FAR rather than the one people are (presumably) using. Note that since AJEPropeller has a hard reference to FAR, it will need to be kept in sync with FAR. -
ThorBeorn: I'm not sure where I stashed the version; that was an awful lot of PMs ago. >.> Re: crash. Ok. That *might* be an RF issue. I will check. woahprettyricky: make sure you're using the *updated* Engine Ignitor. Nuke your existing copy and download fresh.
-
Dobrodav: I think you have the wrong thread... koreberg: Nope, that's FAR. Regarding the shield, no, reflectivity will be lower in collapsed state since it will end up radiating heat *into* itself rather than outward. koksny: convexity problems aren't a DRE issue. If you're getting errors from a mesh, talk to the mesh creator. Regarding shielding, I just discovered a longstanding issue with shielding calculation that should make future versions of DRE work better. Expect an update soon.

blane048: install issue, I assme. Uninstall RSS completely, then download a fresh copy and extract all three folders in the zip to KSP/GameData. If problem persists: Cause the problem. Quit KSP (if it hasn't crashed). Upload your entire output log (NOT ksp.log) to dropbox or something. Windows: KSP_win\KSP_Data\output_log.txt OR KSP_win64\KSP_x64_DATA\output_log.txt (depending on which used) Mac OSX: Open Console, on the left side of the window there is a menu that says 'files'. Scroll down the list and find the Unity drop down, under Unity there will be Player.log ( Files>~/Library/Logs>Unity>Player.log ) Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Squad/Kerbal\ Space\ Program/Player.log

[Stopped] 6.4x Kerbol System v2.0.1 - RSS Config [11/16/14]
NathanKell replied to Raptor831's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The "holes" in the clouds are, I would think, where there's z-fighting and the cloud layer goes below the planet's surface (or the GPU gets confused since the z-buffer resolution isn't sufficient to know which is lower). You can fix this by (a) getting EVE Overhaul (the new EVE) and ( increasing cloud altitude. That wiki link is the best source right now for info on mods; most PQS mods are various wrappers for libnoise. To get sharper slopes you'll want to play around with the heightcurve mods. The biome map is simply a texture map of the surface with color = biome. For editing AtmosphereFromGround: see here https://github.com/NathanKell/RealSolarSystem/wiki/AtmosphereFromGround-RSS-Settings or press ALT+G while in flight to bring up the AFG editor. waveLength is basically what's absorbed by the atmosphere; a 1.0 value (they're capped at 1.0, no idea why BA has 10) means that color is fully absorbed. 1.0, 0.65, .55 means that red is fully absorbed, green is 2/3 absorbed, and blue is half absorbed, meaning you get a nice blue-blue/green atmosphere color. -
[0.90]NEAR: A Simpler Aerodynamics Model v1.3.1 12/16/14
NathanKell replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Terminal velocity in NEAR is going to be insanely high, since one of the simplifications was the removal of supersonic (extra) drag. -
