alkopop79 replied to alkopop79's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Thanks guys, just managed to land on the Mun and get back to orbit. Getting back to Kerbin is the next challenge. -

Radial decouplers - why don't they work?

Awesome, thanks! -
I love KSP but got to a point where I cannot progress and the game is unplayable. Whenever I attach a stage to the main stage, such as a solid booster, it 'sticks' on the surface and cannot be jettisoned. Believe me, I've tried everything such as trying to attach the boosters with snap mode on and off. Worse, I have to check the sequence every time to make sure the radial decouplers work which takes time. I got to a point where I can't do more missions in career mode. Also, the larger decoupler (Hydraulic Detachment Manifold) never worked! I've tried dozens of times and it sucks. Again, I love the game but the fact that basic things lie the decouplers don't work makes me very angry. Any ideas? Fixes? Maybe third-party libraries with decouplers?

The topic title may not be clear so let me explain my problem: I want to go to Minmus and so far I managed to get my ship on orbit around the Earth (altitude around 90km). I set Minmus as a target to be able to change the ships inclination. When I create a manoeuvre on the ascend or descend node, the burn time is generally hours, sometimes even days. What am I doing wrong? The burn time should be a few seconds, am I right?

Fuel from external tanks
alkopop79 replied to alkopop79's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Typical. Just as I rebuilt the external tank bit, it works fine. Haven't done anything differently,I connected the ducts to the externals then to the centre tank. Weird. Thank you for your help! -
Fuel from external tanks

Cannot upload the file, I lost the vehicle (will rebuild it, thanks for your help). The external tank is not stock part but is contains fuel and oxidiser. The ducts are/were connected correctly. -

I wonder why there isn't a manual or doc where all these things are explained? -
Fuel from external tanks
alkopop79 replied to alkopop79's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I'm using the right fuel and the external tanks are connected to the main fuel tank. -
I've built a spike engine powered space plane and I just cannot get fuel from the external tanks. Needless to say, I've tried connecting them to the main fuel tank and the engine yet the fuel in the external ones is just impossible to use. What am I doing wrong?

I've tried the sub assembly thing with no success. I have absolutely no idea how to use it. Tried selecting certain parts and drag them but that just moved the ship around. I love KSP and if I had to I'd be willing to pay for more for it. But the lack of documentation is infuriating. There's no description of how to use things in KSP and I have to ask these things on the forum. Considering that I paid for this software, I don't think I'm asking for too much.

I'm stuck. I still only have 8 points from the 45 to get the batteries. How do you guys build ships to reach the Mun or other planets? I'm struggling to get my ships LEO. Also, the bigger the ship the more I need the SAS which drains the battery so no science experiments and transmission. Any ideas, friends?
