  1. After numerous attempts.... RESIST I flown by the fearless Sonsel Kerman hit a max speed of 2332.0m/s. (And sustained that speed for ~4-5 seconds. Only issue is I recovered the craft without remembering to take a flight log shot. Hopefully since it's very detailed and picture heavy it's okay. I can't rerun it obviously without starting from the beginning. (no quicksaves) While the real mission was outbound, I had time to land a previous failed attempt (EST 1.1) at KSC, also featured. The launch platform allowed me to keep the RESIST I to a minimum, and dropping the landing gear is just cool. While I could have placed RCS on the launcher and then used that to force an early reentry for the launcher while the RESIST I was still outbound, I wasn't sure if that would be okay, and I didn't want to look like I cheated. Although there is oxidizer present on the launcher, it is unused. (Proof in pictures.) Forgot to log in on imgur though, so it doesn't say the album is mine but I have all of the original photos obviously.
  2. Doesn't count because I went out of the atmosphere during a max speed run (machingbird), but this should give an idea of what can be done with a simple stock design. (Did the high G turns at ~15km) See all of the pictures here: http://imgur.com/a/E4K2I#0
  3. First plane designed for the challenge, 2310.6m/s isn't too bad IMO. Edit: How do you embed an album from imgur?
  4. It's interesting certainly, I would have an entry right now of ~12.8G but you said no leaving the atmosphere lol. (Was doing a run for another challenge to hit max speed)
  5. IIRC this is a Windows thing, at least it's always been like that for me. Try doing that while on a youtube video, does that do it too? If it doesn't switch, usually you have to close and reopen the program. If it's just KSP that does it, then I'm not sure.
  6. Unbelievable, how long did it take real time to do that?
  7. Okay so both of these actually pertain mainly to rovers/robotics, so bear with me here. As it stands there is not much point to rovers with the .23 updates. Here are some of my thoughts on it. One option may be to have rovers able to perform science that would be too complex or dangerous for a Kerbal, such as a laser drill to take subsurface surveys for example. Explaining why it's too dangerous for a Kerbal is easy, radiation, heat, toxins, flying microdebris, etc. Another could be that the experiment requires very precise measurements, beyond what a clumsy Kerbal could manage. As for actual parts: 1. A robotic arm, coming in 3 sizes(2m, 10m, 20m lengths for example), capable of fixing parts and taking surface samples could be extremely useful. As far as controls, WASD and SHIFT/CTRL should easily be able to control it, as it should react exactly like a Kerbal on EVA would. Essentially the point would be to have it be modular, with different heads. Kerbals could place the heads on the arm, swapping them out as needed. (i.e., to assist with docking, a magnetic head could be attached to help reel a ship in.) Other options could be a surface application, such as on a rover where a laser could be attached, or a shovel, to take samples or perform science on the surface of moons or planets. 2. Some new, smaller LED powered lights could be really useful for tiny rovers, as the larger lights are often way too big to logically place on the rover. These could be more energy efficient as well as of smaller size however. Not parts now, but another feature. One I feel would be really cool is a mapping attachment for satellites, which can scan a planet in a 2d readout. The point of that would be to allow for slightly more precise landings or targets for ground based operations. It could be linked to a button when in map view, and when clicking a location on the 2d map, have that set as your target in Map view. It could also give coordinates, but the main idea I had was the target setting of specific coordinates. Any feedback is appreciated, this is just some ideas I had while playing. Edit: I realize that the arm idea could be taken as on the list of what not to suggest, but was unsure because it's a specific part, mainly the reason I suggested it is that it could be used for science/rovers at least in a small form with the modular head idea. (http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/36863-What-not-to-suggest) Edit 2: I know the arms are in other mods, but I haven't seen one able to perform science or use interchangeable parts(heads).
  8. I had a piece of a launched launched in an orbit opposite to the orbit of my space station. It flew by today when I was docking a module to the station, and came within 1km actually. It was also moving 4300m/s relative to my station, so it would have been spectacular if it had impacted.
