The only real additions from Mk2 Extended would be edges like the ones on the SR-71... It might give a little lift, but I think it would me mostly cosmetic! Still, love the ship!

So, I have installed Linux for the first time. I have played KSP on Windows.... And well.... I have a voracious appetite for mods, and 32bit just wasn't cutting it anymore. After hearing rumors that Linux supports 64bit.... And as many mods as 16 GB of RAM can handle..... Well, I am here now. I honestly kinda picked a distro kind of at random. I am a complete newb and I know next to nothing about Linux other than it is based on Unix... (which I got some training courtesy of Uncle Sam a little over a decade ago). I digress a little though. I picked up a copy of Debian 8 with the Cinnamon desktop (I am guessing that's a reference to the desktop enviroment?) through OSdisc.com.... I also have a copy of Mint-Debian on a thumb drive though I think I need to burn a DVD of that before I can install it... If I wanted to. I think I know just enough to get myself in trouble. I guess that my question is, what do I need to know about using Linux with KSP and vis versa. Perhaps this could become a thread of what to consider when migrating from Windows over to Linux, what to consider etc for someone who knows nothing about it.... First thing I'll contribute, through trial and error is, that Debian 8, GNOME and ATI don't mix well for performance. I didn't really try playing the game per se, but just the initial menu screen was really choppy. In trying to get updated drivers for my video card, I learned that ATI recommends using the drivers that came with the OS. I've been using my HD TV as a screen, but the "Free Radeon" drivers limited me to 1260 by 440 pixels (I could be remembering the last number wrong.....) Fortunately for me, I had an nVidia 560 Ti as a backup. Other than the base drivers have told me that my 40" TV is really a 72" TV, it seems to work better. (I've downloaded the updated drivers but I haven't installed them yet. I've kinda lept in with both feet, but if I had this to do again, I might run a dual boot system and preserve my MS Office documents and iTunes. I kinda thought that I could use Windows programs with Linux.... and I guess you can with an emulator named Wine. That said, there are music players in Linux that will play the non DRM files in my library so the iTunes thing might be a brief headache while I get that sorted out. Anyway, what other concerns and considerations are out there when switching to Linux? Which distro is the most newbie friendly one? This doesn't apply to me, but if the person's machine has 4 GB of RAM is it worth it to switch to Linux, and if so what are the arguments for (or against)? A final note, I started this thread to help information to be passed to users who are considering switching from Windows or OSX to Linux as to the benefits and/or pitfalls of the switch. I would appreciate it if the arguements are made with this in mind. I would appreciate it if when people contribute to this thread, they refrain from bashing other OS's. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. My copy of Linux is, according to the disc,: Debian Live 8.0 Cinnamon

Generally, I couldn't really care less. On the other hand while I was in the military, I worked with a system that was intended to shoot down ICBMs and the like, so I'm kinda curious to try and create a Kerballized version.

Strangely enough, I had to run RSS/RO to figure this little trick out. MechJeb will work, with pretty much the stock turn profile with the following changes. I start with an SLT of between 1.2 and 1.9 with around 3k m/s2 of dV on the first stage. So far, I use basic fins on my 1.25m rockets. My second stage starts with a TWR (don't use the SLT one for this stage) of between .8 and .9 and between 1.5k to 2k dV. As long as the rocket is relatively aerodynamic, it ought to get the job done. Starting the gravity turn on this when your rocket reaches around 100m/s. For lower SLT TWRs, this is usually around 1.5 km up, higher ones are closer to 1km. Incidently, I have found that if there is a lot of oscillation, then reducing the gimbal on the first stage to around 50% helps dampen out the inputs. Keep trying buddy! Getting the hang of it can be a hurdle, but you'll get there! Edit: You might consider adding FAR as it allows you to dampen the control inputs from various aerodynamic control surfaces.

I was very much of two minds regarding the Second of the New Star Trek films... It was very entertaining, but at the same time, it took too much from The Wrath of Khan and it seemed that Kirk was brought back too easily, if that makes any sense. I mean, in the original movie series, it took a whole movie to get Spock back and through a vague theory that the scientists at the time didn't understand.... More of a guess really. Into Darkness, Kirk was resurrected in what amounts to about 5 minutes after McCoy sees the revived Tribble.... On a kind of different note, I have to say this... I have to get this off my chest, but the new Trek films, no matter how entertaining, remind me of a Stargate SG-1 episode... You know the one where they're considering making a TV series from the team, and there's a suggestion of bringing in very young actors with a gritty new twist on things..... These movies feel like that clip from that episode. Don't get me wrong! I do enjoy the films..... It's just an amused reminder.

Kinda surprised that Wargaming picked this up.... That said, MOO was one of my favorite games growing up. I will have to keep an eye on this.

While there were issues with SimCity 4, I really enjoyed the game. I think the series peaked there and I still play around with the Sims 3. (I need to find my copy of SC4 again... ) I enjoyed SimAnt... SimEarth, and I wish I had tried SimLife.... but others have said this, nothing that innovative has come out of Maxis in a long time. I kinda miss those games ..

Love the mod. However, 5.34 kills my game without fail to the point where removing the mod STILL crashes the game. I don't understand it, but I am building a new install; I cannot install a version of this mod now without a test that it won't screw up a previous save. I don't know why this should be, all I DO lnow is that 5.34 screwed my last game over to the point that reverting to the last version meant re-installing the game. - - - Updated - - - Where can I get 5.33?

An Opposition Mission to Mars in Realism Overhaul

This has been a very interesting read. Kinda makes me want to fire up my copy of RO and start messing around in it again. -
It wasn't just the last SimCity, but SimCity Societies before that and Sims 4. So... Basicly the last 3 titles on the PC. While it saddens me that they clised Maxis, I can't really say this surprises me. When I first started to play computer games, SimCity was the first, and the series has been a constant in my library. Frankly, EA either never got, or forgot what made it good and thought that graphics alone would make them money (huge over simplification, I realize) and I don't think EA gets the average PC gamer. I think we like complexity, otherwise we'd be on a console. EA is fixated on consoles, and the PC is a side market. I've liked the Bioware games, and I hope EA doesn't screw that up.

I realise that this probably isn't the place for this, but among other things, I have vague recollections of Columbia's launch in 1981. I was but 4 years old at the time, and I remember that the external tank was painted white-- unlike all launches after that one. I learned much later that the tanks were left unpainted subsequently to save weight. Much more recently, I was dusappointed inbthat no sumiliar system was slated to replace the Shuttle. I am glad, however, that the system continues in KSP. Again, love the work shown here.

Thanks Percy! It'll join the ranks of my Science aircraft! I might try and make a P-80 and Me-262 just to round out the early jet thing and maybe the Mig-9. I run KAX so I have a few propeller aircraft to start flight testing and such. (It's a little unrealistic right now.... The D-25 is.... Entirely too overpowered.... As in I can approach the sound barrier... In level flight at around 3kft. That said, I know people are working on that. Downloaded both sets of files!

Would love to get my hands on that puppy! It'll make a nice follow uo to the F4F and B25/A26 that I've been messing withvin my career. Thank you!

I actually first noticed this in my modded game, however, while attempting to isolate the mod in question, I found it existed in my un-modded install as well. Issue: Space craft begins to rotate under basic SAS (Changing SAS mod to pro-Normal, etc kills the rotation) without user input. There are no clipped parts. How to recreate: Put together a basic launcher and probe. Place it into LKO and activate SAS- Do not engage anything other than the setting that maintains stability. The vessel should start to slowly roll, and the rotation will accelerate. Note that the input indicators in the lower left corner of the screen do not show any input being applied along any axis. Impact: It becomes harder to change headings in order to execute orbital maneuvers and docking. Output Log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/h0cimaebgnlib3v/output_log.txt?dl=0 Any help or thoughts are much appreciated! Thank you all in advance!

Over the last few days I've been working on getting a RT comms net around Minmus.... with mixed resukts. After diagnosing an issue with the latest release of MechJeb, I have emplaced 2 of 3 satellites. I would have all 3 up by earlier this morning, but... I got a sammich during a launch and... I... Um... kinda missed the window on deploying the satellite's comms antennas... so, yeah, that one is coming back home somewhere. I've also been messing around with the Mk2 expansion parts... and I will make a flying Angel Fish of DOOOOOOOOOOM!! (Yes, DOOM, must always be in caps! Also followed with exclamation points! ).... That might take a bit tho. For today, finish the comms-net for Minmus and emplace on around the Mun.
