Until recently, there have been no issues with my Flickr images being visible in the KSP forums. Now, however, they do not show up in new posts (but they remain in old posts). I'm testing it here, using the "Insert Image" tool in the toolbar above the post field. First, using a URL of an image I've posted in the forum before: I see a small blue box with a question mark. Next, using the HTML/BB code: The text of the action is shown, rather than the image. I'll look for the same image already at the forum and provide the link here using the "Link Tool": http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/72076-My-Two-Rovers%21?p=1014179&viewfull=1#post1014179 I suspect that a change to the way the forum handles images (at least Flickr) has occurred, since the first image of the other forum post is showing and is the same image as the other examples should be, and they aren't showing. Help would be appreciated. Thanks! Edit: I'll now use a never before posted image, just in case that is an issue, using the prompted URL in "Insert Image" tool: I get the same kind of blue box icon, at least in my browser (Safari, latest).

Eve Rover Help
Dispatcher replied to ScottyDoesKnow's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You could make a stripped down version of this: Hmmm. Image not displaying in my browser. Edit: fixed. As the others wrote, shorter and wider is good. If you go with more than 4 wheels, lock the steering on the middle wheels. -
Lunar Flight? http://www.shovsoft.com/lunarflight/ There's this free browser based exploration game: http://www.astro-galaxy.com/index.php?a=2 Then there is Solar Quest: http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Games/Solarquest.shtml Serpens Sector: http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Games/Space-Exploration.shtml I've not played any of the above. I just used my favorite search engine to find the above. If by "space warfare" you mean stuff like Eve Online, that's clear enough. Let me suggest some other kind of games to tide you over until the right thing comes along. If you don't mind science fiction FPS, there is Bungie's Marathon trilogy, which you can get here free: http://marathon.sourceforge.net I hope you find something you like!

I'm for tethering to the outside of the structure. If the structure goes down, that's just not a good day.

From the context of WWs OP and additional post, I'm of the opinion that what he implied is that the object we call Venus (in terms of mass and chemistry) were to be formed in Mars orbit and vice versa. This would imply different accretion results. But there are still a lot of variables that we could change or keep for either object, as the new locations relative to the sun create new consequences.

I need some Rover Help
Dispatcher replied to Tuck00's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
As far as design goes, try to build the rover so that it is wider than it is tall (or that the CoM is lower than the centerline of the rover). Put wheels on using symmetry and right angles only (other angles will camber your wheels in or out). This should help it to drive straight. Make sure you test your rover on Kerbin first (drive down the launch pad ramp and try it out on the grassy areas below). This can help you find problems before you get the rover to its destination. Expect control issues on low G bodies, like Minmus. For these, try to use care when driving and especially turning and braking. Good luck! -
Bungie's 3rd installment of the Marathon trilogy brings Narcogen and Blackstar together again in co-op mode. Play on your computer for free: http://marathon.sourceforge.net Available for your iPhone or iPad, free as well: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/marathon-1/id419805412 See ya star side!

I invite you to speculate on the next step in evolution
Dispatcher replied to Sillychris's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I'm sure nobody is suggesting eugenics, right? That leads to the question of who determines what is desirable and what is not, in a human being. -
Aw, that just takes all the fun out of it. I recommend putting Mars into orbit around Venus. This would create more of a binary planet more so than a planet-moon pair. The tectonic action which results would cause fundamental changes on both objects; let alone the temperature increase on Mars. The continental crust on Venus would become active and CO2 would be absorbed by the exposed rock, thus reducing the mass of the air. Mars' shadow would help cool Venus, perhaps allowing the sulfuric acid rain to reach the surface, which would help weather and expose more rock to the air. Mars' ices would of course melt and its CO2 pressure increase would help it retain the melted water, rather than being blasted away by the solar wind. Should be easy, right? OK, back on topic, Venus as a more massive world, in Mars orbit, would probably have turned out more like Earth, notwithstanding that a large object would have likely hit whatever was in Mars orbit (as it did so). However, our moon is thought to be the result of a similar impact with Earth and our axial spin is decent enough notwithstanding. Mars, on the other hand, in a Venusian orbit, would probably be a lot like Mercury is now. This is due to its mass (similar to Mercury's) and its proximity to the sun. It'd be solar blasted, similar to Mercury. I'm guessing we'd have bases on Venus (in a Mars orbit) by now, assuming a reasonably pressured atmosphere.

I think that one of the reasons that Squad has allowed modding to be moderately doable (if not downright supporting mods), is the fact that the modders tend to come up with really cool stuff that the developers either have no time for, hadn't considered or are simply holding off doing until other goals or even placeholders are achieved. Some of the mods (and modders) have been picked up and incorporated by the developers. Some mods are very useful, basic tools (such as KER) and other mods may not appeal to some players due to them being "fluff" instead of basic functionality upgrades (Chatterer, a fun though nonessential mod comes to mind). I think Squad may incorporate some more mods in the future, or at least prominently suggest them in the future. As for my own preference, I'd like to see KER made a stock feature; perhaps unlocked later on in the tech tree after interplanetary missions are doable. If KER was not available, I'd have become tired of KSP and I'd be less likely to recommend it to others. Its not asking too much to have access to basic data such as mass, dV, TWR and such available in the VAB/ SPH. Its a game, after all, and nobody should be expected to calculate the particulars in order to assemble a proper rocket. I'm sure some others may feel differently, but that's how I feel.

As the title suggests, this is the number of contestants who submitted entries for Squad's Logo contest. I base it on my post here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/72209-Devnote-Tuesdays-The-Forward-Progress-Edition?p=1017043&viewfull=1#post1017043 There were 1297 entries received by Squad. There are 27 companies which were designated in need of Logos. I figured that if each contestant submitted one logo per company, there'd be about 48 contestants. Obviously, if each contestant submitted only one logo total, there would be 1297 contestants. An average for those would be about 673 contestants. I assumed that some people would submit more than one logo for the same company, so I dropped the figure to about 600 contestants. I looked at the forum stats and saw that there are about 5004 active forum members. If 10% of them submitted logos, then there are about 500 contestants. So that's the number I'm picking. 500. Try your hand at guessing (or figuring out) how many Logo contestants there are. Feel free to explain why you chose a number. You may also choose an already guessed figure. If someone from Squad sees fit to supply the correct number of contestants, then that would end the contest and a winner(s) will be declared. If there is no exact winning figure, the closest one(s) will be selected. The prize? Well, hmmm, your satisfaction for a lucky guess or for your skillful use of calculating skills? Good luck, and thanks in advance for participating in this totally useless thread!

Narcogen & Blackstar continue setting up base on the Moon; making sure to keep out the obligatory baddies:

Thank you, Xacktar! Still wanting to see the rovers which the OP described.

It looks like you'll need to attach the rover to the top of the lander, since its own top has a transmitter on it. That's problematic, as you will either need to turn the lander sideways and jettison the rover or else use sepratrons to lift the rover off the lander at an angle. I carry the rover under the lander and use a blue decoupler (which detaches from both the lander and rover). Given your design, your rover is intended to stay at the target, so no need for a docking port. Here are pics of one of my lander and rover sets, to give you an idea: Edit: hmmm. Looks like problems with the forum? I use Flickr and have had no problems before, but now I'm not able to post images; the text of the URL only is shown, not even as an active link. Edit: You can see some of them here, when posting images worked for me: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/72076-My-Two-Rovers%21?p=1014179&viewfull=1#post1014179

Texture not shown (beginner)
Dispatcher replied to kotysoft's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
I've done this. Apply the texture you want to have on the model in Blender. UV unwrap. Export that into .png or whatever format. Using an image editor, create or import your text as a new layer. Rotate, scale and position your text on the proper island panel (the cylinder side). If your new texture with text appears distorted when applied back on the model in Blender, try adjusting the proportions of the original text in that layer you started with. I hope that helps. -
Is it time to give interstellar travel a shot?
Dispatcher replied to DarkStar64's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I think it makes sense to actually expand into the solar system first, as we will doubtless learn much, which we can then apply toward any such effort. -
I think we'll learn much from actually venturing out into the solar system, which we then can apply to any interstellar effort.

Is it time to give interstellar travel a shot?
Dispatcher replied to DarkStar64's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Please elaborate on "prepare the system first anyway." I'm not sure what you mean by that, but it sounds like a huge undertaking just to do that. -
Wow! Well done. A tad beyond my humble creations (and mishaps); puts NASA to shame for sure.

Are you looking for something to max out your system, or just a fun game? $$$ or free? New or "old"? Here are some suggestions that you might enjoy: For story and shooting aliens, try the Marathon trilogy. For strategy/ tactics, without having to clear the land, raise the food, feed the chickens, yada yada; Myth. Both of these are some of Bungie's works prior to Halo. Then there are games like Cube 2 and Nexuiz, if no story at all is good for you. More recent games? The Portal series, the Half Life series. New games? Steam seems to have a never ending supply.
