  1. You can get nice braces. Also, nice glasses or maybe contacts. Also, do you really care that much about all that? I'd rather spend money on my health than on something else.
  2. So, what happened to the OP? She just vanished after we figured out the slots (or whatever) were full and I couldn't join. I see that was some two weeks ago.
  3. The crash didn't mean the end of gaming as a concept. It was just a crash of the market. The whole point is that there was a surplus of stupid games, so the gaming community got tired of buying stuff. Then NES came after a while.
  4. Something tells me that thing actually came from German, or at least the common ancestor. I'm not into linguistics so I'm just speculating. But yes, it's totally arbitrary and looks stupid to me because I'm accustomed to writing titles like "The fantastic voyage" instead of "The Fantastic Voyage".
  5. In contrary, he did not explain why the same can not happen again. In fact, he's pretty sure it will happen again. I'm trying to see the various opinions on this forum.
  6. Nobody has anything to say about this topic which is "kind of" vital for this forum?
  7. I never understood why it is capitalized. To me, it seems quite silly, jus like capitalizing all words in titles.
  8. "There" for "they're" and "their". Honestly, sometimes I'm like when I read it.
  9. But it was never science. When modern rockets were developed, every law of motion behind them and the objects of their travel have been already discovered by Newton and Kepler. Developing machines is not what science does. Engineering does it. Science is a completely different endeavour. I was actually surprised when I heard the phrase "rocket science" for the first time because we don't have such phrase in my language.
  10. There is no such thing as rocket science. It's engineering. Aerospace engineering.
  11. Do you think it could happen again? Watch this video first. I kind of agree with him, but he forgot that back in the 80s there was no World Wide Web in existence. At best, people could've comment the games between themselves in stores, in letters to game magazines. We live in an entirely different society now. Communication is plentiful, and thus the speed of spreading info on what's great and what's not is huge. YouTube offers us to see the gameplay. Discuss.
  12. I've just heard about it from boogie2988. I'm not sure what to say.
  13. It could be done if the periapsis is high enough to avoid tidal forces in case of smaller and medium sized holes, and to ensure it's way above the horizon event. In case of very large black holes, tidal forces are unimportant and they're catastrophic inside the event horizon.
  14. Shameful photos and videos which induce impure thoughts. That would work for a short time. Computer games and YouTube after that. I doubt I'd be that bored in weightless environment. I'd have the time of my life. I could do basic Newtonian experiments.
  16. I think the best known space tourist is Dennis Tito. His voyage was widely reported by media on a global scale and he has entered history. I've never even heard of Richard Garriott dude.
  17. I just hope there won't be "hey, people, if you pay 9.99$, you'll get an expansion pack with 10 more different ores and 5 animals!"-policy. Cause that would wreck the already injured community. It would become annoying like WoW, and endless parade, a hole without bottom. So far, 1.8 has been working fine for me.
  18. USA knew damn well that von Braun was a war criminal, but they chose to downplay it themselves because he was useful to them.
  19. Actually, we know quite a lot except what's impossible to pull out because of the very nature of statistical noise. "Developed" countries like USA used to poison people (no consent) with radionuclides, telling them it's something else, and then measure data.
  20. So your uncle said the contamination was minimal outside 10 mile radius? That's a blatant lie. Here's one of the more known maps, this one dealing with Cs-137 contamination. There are places in Austria where almost 200 kBq of Cs-137 ions fell onto a square metre. It even rained on me. I'm acquainted with hormesis and physiology and all that. I understand, but saying there was negligible contamination outside 10 mile radius is... There are no words how wrong it is.
