  1. Here's my entry with a respectable lap time of 1:44. now 1:45. [Edit]: RussaX pointed out that I was already moving as I hit the screenshot button. One second penalty.
  2. Race One has been opened! Circuit de Temeraire This is a rather long, but fast circuit, coming in at just under the maximum of 3kms in length. Sector One is very twisty, however the circuit pans out afterwards. Outright Lap Record: CaptainGiblets - 1:22 Formula K Lap Record: CaptainGiblets - 1:22 Formula K Race Record: CaptainGiblets - 1:26 I suggest you all gear your cars in between handling and speed for this one. Just a note to everyone, the line I took in the .trk file is the best possible racing line, so aim to be as close as you can to it. Download the .trk file here and put it in GameData/PersistentTrails/PluginData/Tracks. RACE LEADERBOARD: 1st: CaptainGiblets - 1:26 2nd: GROOV3ST3R - 1:30 3rd:zhollett - 1:34 4th: Starwhip - 1:38 5th: Kyrian - 1:38 6th: mrmcp1 - 1:38 7th: burnoutforzai - 1:38 8th: The_Rocketeer - 1:41 Out Of Points: - UpsilonAerospace - 1:45 - Wanderfound - 1:46 - Im the One - 2:08 - Agent30632 - 2:10 - DaPatman - 2:17
  3. I was thinking like Can-Am but allowing the use of cameras for 1st Person viewing.
  4. My plan for Formula K was to make an F1 analogue with single-seat open-wheelers with wings and the like. This is still pretty good anyway! One day I may open a full-body racing series. Anyway, nice submission UA, I like it! Also for Wanderfound, I might open it today.
  5. mrmcp1, sorry but that's a no. All tracks are set on the KSC pathways and sometimes a bit of the runway. burnoutforzai, it's great to see you back! Hope your car does well this season!
  6. To keep it fair, I will allow TweakableWheels but not encourage it. I myself won't be using it. It'll be your choice to use or not. Also, very nice entry, frickafrack! Looks like you'll have a competitive car!
  7. All these entries are amazing! Can't wait to see how they perform
  8. The M1 wheel is sleeker, better looking and actually stays on my craft when I accelerate. The TR-2L is not, is not, and does not.
  9. I pressed the wrong button. My super-awesome-special Eeloo explorer rapidly disassembles itself without my permission.
  10. If you can get it working on a small scale, go right ahead. Introducing wacky technologies is half the point of Formula K
  11. Here we have the KR-03 from the Kyrian Racing R&D Labs. Its extremely light frame (1.31t to be exact) gives it astonishing acceleration, and the eight Small Control Surfaces give a large amount of downforce. It is very twitchy to drive under 10m/s, and not very responsive above 25m/s. The front wheels have a slight amount of camber, as do the rears to aid with cornering grip. I've very slightly based the design on the 2014 Mercedes AMG Petronas W05. Signed Driver: Giedo Kerman
  12. Wanderfound, I don't understand what you mean. Could you send a few screenshots to explain?
  13. You can tune wing angles and wheel camber/caster as much as you want, however if you do a major chassis modification you will need to show the old and the new. If it's a near-complete car redesign you can simply re-release your car as [CarName]b.
  14. About that. Docking mode not required, however aerodynamic surfaces must be locked. I'm sure the OP says that.
  15. Im The One, can I ask you to put a small I-Beam or a few Cubic Octagonals behind the driver? Just to keep the little guy safe
  16. Driver protection is good, and I mean small control surfaces as in 'control surfaces that are small'.
  17. Sorry about that. OP has been edited to prevent confusion. Remember, the old Small Control Surfaces are allowed if you can get them back in.
  18. Those mid-wings will have to go, regulations state surfaces, not wings. Other than that, great car, look forward to seeing it race!
  19. Great to hear. Give me and everyone else a real challenge please!
  20. I think it was 0.09t. 90kg. Adding new plugin to the OP as well.
  21. manni01, there will be. In PersistentTrails you can record a layout and share the file. That's what we'll be doing. randomness5555, great to see you back, however I would really really suggest a redesign. That thing looks like it'll fall over any second :-)
  22. Hello everyone! Welcome to the Kerbal Racing Federation's 2nd Formula K Championship! Formula K is the ultimate racing category of Kerbal motorsport. Only the best can make it, and only the best of the best can win. Do you have what it takes? About the competition: The scoring system is rather simple: 1st: 10pts 2nd: 8pts 3rd: 6pts 4th: 5pts 5th: 4pts 6th: 3pts 7th: 2pts 8th: 1pt <8th: 0pts Reigning champ is GROOV3ST3R. Please note: If you participated in the previous championship for more than one race, you must design a new car. Races: Race One - CLOSED Race Two Race Three Below are the Regulations. The cars must be built to these regulations. Yes, they are strict, but it ensures that the competition is close. REGULATIONS FOR FORMULA K CARS: Command / Structure: 1. Command 1.1. Must be driven by a Kerbal in an EAS-1 External Command Seat. 1.2. Only 1 Kerbal and 1 seat are permitted. 2. Structure. 2.1. Kerbal must be safe from front and side impacts, and safe from rolling. 2.2. Minimum weight of vehicle is 0.9t with EMPTY RCS tanks. (see Powertrain: 2) 2.3. Main body must be created from Pocket I-Beams and at least 1 1x1m metal plate. Powertrain: 1. Must be powered by four (4) RoveMax Model M1. No more, no less. 1.1. You are permitted to put the files from <0.24's Small Control Surface back into 0.25 for this challenge. Limit of ten (10) individual surfaces. All surfaces must be locked. Races and entry: Races will start from a standing start, and using the MET timer, racers will complete one timed lap of the circuit. Each competitor must record their lap with the PersistentTrails plugin. On entry to the competition, racers will need to provide a screenshot of their vehicle in the editor, along with a name of their company/team and the designation of their car. Sponsors are permitted. In each race, 3 screenshots are required: - MET Start Time - MET Finish Time - PersistentTrails track. This will verify your lap time and your route, to check if you've cut the corners. Using the grey brick walkways as part of the track is permitted, but using the grass is not. You must start your lap perpendicular to the start/finish line. At the closure of each round, total points will be tallied. At the closure of the final race, a Top 3 will be appointed and they will be able to receive an image to place in their signature, if they wish. REGULATIONS FOR OPEN CLASS CARS: - No part mods are permitted. - Infinite RCS is banned. - Wheel power only, maximum of 4 wheels. - Must be driven by a Kerbal in a seat. - No SAS or ASAS. Link to PersistentTrails is here. Thanks to SirJodelstein and Snjo for an amazing plugin. I hope to see many people join. This thread is for discussion, car designing tips, rule discussions and possible changes, car releases, and then the races. If you would like to submit a track, please title your post 'Track Submission' or similar and have an image of the outline in spoiler tags. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks, Kyrian. After the conclusion of Race Two, all competitors using SAS and ASAS must redesign their vehicles to remove those systems. One screenshot of the updated car is necessary. As for the "OP must show that challenge is possible" rule, I will enter all the races.
