  1. If you see any NASA activities, you'd realize they have LIVE video with the ISS. This means they probably have a satellite at a lower or higher altitude with a velocity that keeps it in line with the ISS. This probably results in that satellite being a link between ground servers and the space station. There are many computers around the ISS, but they mainly use those for recording data about the experiments done on the ISS. Alot of people don't realize it, but all those astronauts are really scientists, because the purpose of the ISS is to be a "Orbital Laboratory".
  2. I usually dock at around .5 to .6m/s, but one time I docked (somehow) at around 2m/s. It drastically changed the station's orbit and it took alot of rcs (and rotating) to get it back into it's original orbit. I recommend you just dock at a relatively low speed until you are completely sure about how docking mechanisms work.
  3. It is a developers choice whether they want to develop mods or not. I used to make mods for other games, but since I didn't want things to be complicated or receive hate mail or anything of the matter, I used them only for myself. There is a big difference between using things for your own purposes or distributing them. Many people don't realize it, but there are practically copies of Mechjeb and other mods that no one hears about, but when a big mod goes, people will use the lesser known ones and then that will become big, then that same process repeats for a while. If you delve into Spaceport, you will find out what I mean. You can't force someone to develop and maintain a mod, now can you?
  4. What the devs discussed is the anything (like colonization) that DOES NOT fit the realistic feel of KSP will be released as DLC. Anybody who bought the game before May 1st, 2013 will get DLC for free according to the KSP devs, but be aware, the devs said that DLC may never be a reality, just an idea. Another thing is if they added ways to get money in carrer mode, it would probably be in millions and billions. It costed $790 million for NASA (yes I know I use alot of acronyms) to launch the LADEE satellite to the moon, which actually launched two days ago.
  5. By circuit, do you mean orbit? If you made an orbit that wasn't about to crash or go into the sun's orbit, then yes, but if it was more like a flyby and then you left Eve's sphere of influence, then no. You may be able to claim the rover as a satellite if you detach it and it can generate it's own power and if it has a probe core. Otherwise, just the orbit.
  6. I made this thread for a simple reason: post pictures and tell other forum members about your worst Deep Space Kraken (Or Deep Space Cthulu, whatever you like to call it) attacks. I would have posted one of mine but imgur isn't happy with me today.
  7. I totally agree with you. Kerbals are the most loyal things ever ! If you go up to their face, tell them "We're sending you to Eeloo and the journey will take 4 years and you may not return," then Jeb would smile all the way. And the amount of strange contraptions you could make plus the shear amount of modders, it really is a great game.
  8. There are many ways to get help on the forums. Learn how to aerobrake. It might help you on your mun descent.
  9. Another thing to account for is, if the wheels keep spinning faster, they will generate heat, and because they're made of metal, that metal can overheat and melt, and when it melts, IT WON'T WORK! Humanity has no device that does not erode. Even gently touching something with a feather causes a very small amount of damage to it, yet that amount of damage in unmeasurable (unless you use an uninvented, very small measuring tool).
  10. Just think about how we are discovering new minerals and such. This means that the periodic chart is undoubtley incomplete, so this is NOT a universal thing. Some things in math, like the fibonnanci sequence, can be used to create shapes. The fibonnanci sequence played a role in building the Parthenon, and several other masterpieces. Which in result, means math is a universal language. Another thing to think about is, what if aliens ARE NOT as advanced as humans? Maybe instead of aliens coming to us, we will develop means to go to them first?
  11. Welcome to the forums! I like your "expeditions" you've posted here. I recommend that you post them in the KSP FanWorks, because they belong there. Otherwise, nice job. You'll be on your way to *cough* crashing into *cough* Jool * cough*, err, I said, landing on Eeloo!
  12. Welcome to the KSP forum! If your curious about how to do something, the wiki and the forums are a great knowledge base to start with.
  13. When I said re-create the space race, I didn't mean do EXACTLY in order. Just do the missions as fast as you can. If your fast enought, the U.S.S.R./Russian player may make it to the moon first.
  14. Thanks. I knew what some did, just not what they were called.
  15. Using a decoupler with more decoupler force might help. If that doesn't help, I have a nooby solution. Try "stacking" your decouplers. It doesn't always work, but putting one decoupler on top of one another and putting them in the same stage might help them push a bit more, or at least be farther away from the main craft/engine.
  16. Anybody know of any "Megacheat" mods? By that, I mean mods that make KSP incredibly easy. Like mods that remove gravity from Kerbin or allow teleporting or maybe an infinite fuel mod. I never got into mods much. I use Mechjeb to get information about the rockets I make and very rarely use autopilot unless the ship is nigh impossible to control. I was just wondering what some of these mods were called.
  17. Welcome. Docking is a bit buggy, but you do have to be almost exact to dock something. In real life, NASA has to be dead on or else everything blows up. But, in retrospect, they have a much, much better autopilot system than Mechjeb and they don't get lag.
  18. This is a very helpful tool. I made something like this before, but I think yours is better
  19. Wow, you're good. Much better than me when I started out. My first ship made it to the moon but quickly bypassed it, and crashed on Minumus. It was falling apart during launch anyways. I hope you'll be adding more ribbons soon. I've been some places.
  20. All of this is good advice. I too experienced this when I was first using EVA, but if you want to EVA down to Gilly and back up, keep practicing! FYI: Never try to EVA down to Eve. Death (and a REALLY strong atmosphere) awaits you there!
  21. Now I know this idea may have come up before, but it probably wasn't this hard, and it probably didn't require two people. (Also, I'm not new to KSP. My friend and I did this and decided to post the idea on the forums.) Anyways, the point of the Space Race is to re-do the actual space race. One person is the U.S., and the other is the U.S.S.R. Then do a bit of research (yeah, you actually have to go to that thing called Google and use something called a keyboard) on the NASA and Russian Space Program Missions. The U.S. player attempts to recreate -->ALL<-- of the U.S. space missions, all the way back to Explorer 1. The U.S.S.R. does the same, but starts with Sputnik and does the Russian missions. I'm not going to make it that confusing by adding a point system and stuff, just do it. You may download any part packs that you'd like to make it more realistic and try to make them look similar to the original. Of course, I can't restrict you from using MechJeb or anything, so go ahead. Whoever recreates the International Space Station first wins! Post your sucess stories here. (You can do it alone if you wish, but then it's not much of a "race")
  22. This has worked very well for me, considering how many refueling outposts I like to have. Nice work! Can't wait to see more from an amazing spacecraft designer.
  23. I did this before, and I even used Buzz Kerman and a rocket that looked similar to the original Apollo rocket, but they sort of didn't survive because they got attacked by the Kraken on the way back.
  24. Nice, I'll begin working on it soon. The only problem is not having any kerbals dying. I quite enjoy explosions. I guess I'll just have to add "fireworks" to their new home or something. I've already got spy satellites orbiting around every planet except Bop and Ike. I'll try to build it on Bop so the Deep Space Kraken will eat them.
  25. Oh, thanks for clearing that up. Wasn't aware of that. I had kept reading the rules to see if there was anything I was missing, but thanks for the warm welcome.
