Squad Should Ask Microsoft For A Free Xbox One Development Kit
SpaceHole replied to NeoMorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I just answed the posts of other people which took a lot of text ... Also about the dev-kit what are the requirements to get it? I doubt they will send it to anyone calling himself an Indie-Developer. -
I was having a hard time to get my rockets in the orbit - so i watched a youtube-video some days later and was wondering why it looked so easy - finally found out about SAS and how to activate it 4 days after buying the game ...

That is one of the things i dont get. What has digital distribution to do with the cloud? Its not a problem at all to have play-from-disc and digital distribution at the same time. Also what do you mean by access from the cloud? I never heard of such a feature. (at least from the Xbox One) Loading a game from the cloud too play is not an option (connections are not fast enough), streaming a game is an option but seem to be not that great also gives you more lag not to mention that there was no way in hell MS would have implemented a streaming-service for free. And a combination of cloud + console has been discussed a lot but in reality it would boil down to very few things that could be done. Not to mention that "cloud" means nothing and many times when people talk about cloud features i would rather call it "server" - a thing we have since decades in online-gaming. So i dont see why people are stuck in the 90's when they prefere to have more options? The bad rep the XBone has is from a marketing disaster. Which is probably why they changed a lot lately. It also didnt help MS that they were trying to force always online and a mandatory camera in your living room while beeing involved in an NSA-Privacy-Scandal. -

Well try not to be fooled by such things. Most people i know that like to use such phrases a lot simply try to impress others with it. Its rather easy to just learn some of those phrases and use them. From my point of view the most inteligent form of cummunication is the one that is easiest to understand. It takes much more to write complex things in a way that everyone can understand than to just use a bajillion of foreign-words. -

This saying actually originates from the greek - i know that the text is latin - had to learn it in school ... Force kinect - a device many bought - and stopped using soon? Always online? Rent movies based on the ammount of people in your room? and so on. The problem is those features can be good - yet why force them on everyone when many people will have huge problems with it - not to mention privacy concerns? Most arguments by MS were simply made up - like digital distribution benefits. One can implement all those digital distribution benefits yet still sell it in stores with normal "only play with disc in drive etc.) From my point of view most of the thigns you consider "features" simply were things that MS wanted to gain more control over software and hardware. Not to mention lots of things i would almost consider lies (like the cloud parts they were completely exaggerated) And now you are exaggerating - what would have been so much different for the end-user? Also lets be honest here consoles have become more and more similar - not to mention that exclusives rarely are a good thing financially for the game-publishers which is why most games will end up multi-plattform. The days when it really made a difference which console you bought are long gone. There is a difference between doing for the right or for the wrong reasons. They did it because they had to the XBox One marketing was a disaster. Especially due to awful comments (submarine comment), false information (the support-twitter accounts probably just didnt have enough information), and lies again (as far as i remember there was some backlash against always on way before the presentation - they said something like "we will clear everything up at xy " - in reality they just ignored everythign and thought that people would forget over time. But to be honest my view on MS is mainly due to Windows 8, the new Office Subscription plans etc. I doubt that since both consoles will probably have major supply problems also i dont care i wont buy a new console (had the ps3 rarely used it) yet i dissagree with you. Both are rather similar - yes - yet the PS4 will sell way better for a simple reason - the inital cost of the console is 100 Dollars less which is a lot. Not to mention that all TV-Features are pointless to most people out of the US (from what i heard those features wont be usable in most other countries at least at the launch). I never doubted that. Constructing might be a bit annoying. The sticks are probably nice to fly. Yet the big problems prevails modding wont be possible - patches will be hard to do and especially MS seems to dislike any free addons. From what i head you cant simply roll out patches on a console. You have to go trough a process of testing and authorization as far as i know. Maybe someone can clear that one up. (but i doubt i am wrong since just think about what would happen if everyone can just roll out patches and someone messes up the console) -
Yeah i think i used the fast forward at times - so this could actually cause some of those things? Hmm it would be nice to see problems in the design anyone of you knows the bridge-builder? So for the time beeing i can only not use fast forward so often, open the parachute early and try to use more support structures?

Yeah because criticizing a single a company for its obvious problems and anti-consumerism while objectively pointing out the problem when it comes to KSP is now a console war. Especially since i mentioned all other platforms. Also this is a one-liner everone learns at some point of his live. How is it the most effective use of Latin you have ever seen when this sentence will be a one-linder at any given time? -

Pointing out your hypocrisy doesnt make my argument the same as yours. Also i hate to break it to you but using greek sayings doesnt make you look smarter either. Anyhow my "argument" is over now since you obviously are only out for some sort of flamewar which i have no interrest in. So have a nice day. Still do you mind to explain why it would be a great thing to have KSP on the Xbox One? Also my post was about mircrosoft and their policies and the problems with KSP. So talking about shortcommings of a company now automatically is a console war? -
The link is not working but i already can tell that i dislike something like this. I really hate this mentality it reminds me of the new microsoft. Yes it happens that people dont like change but that doesnt automatically indicate that every change is good and everyone who dislikes a certain change is close-minded or "conservative". For example - Windows 8 is awful for desktops - the new interface is nice maybe even great for touch but it is actually a bad innovation for desktops since they actually lose productivity. Also in games patches actually can break certain aspects of the game that were the reason why at least some people had fun with it. So i dont see why does people should not be able to voice their opinion? Also there actually are patches in games that made the game worse. Just because something is new doesnt mean its a good thing - it also doesnt mean that its a bad thing.

Im not exactly sure if this is fot the bug-section or a general discussion? (may a mod move it if its a bug) Lately since i do bigger spacecrafts i often run into odd problems: - Rockets randomly disintegrate on the ramp (i start a game everything is normal, restart mission rocket desitegrates, restart mission normal again etc.) - Parachutes randomly fail - i did about 8 flights with one of my rockets most of those flights ended up back on Kerbal yet from lets say 6 landings with parachute 2 suddenly failed and the parachute just stopped working a few feet above ground So i started reading in the forums if there were built in random errors etc. but it seems there werent. So i started to wonder is this a bug or am i doing something wrong? (the log always says something with "Structural failure") I would be sure that its my fault when this would happen every time with the same ship yet it works most of the time and just doesnt work sometimes which is odd.

Its funny how you accuse others of starting a console-war when you are the one actually starting it and trying to lure people into doing so. Since you think its a great idea may you explain why? Also since you probably own a console may you offer me insight in how patching and modding works on consoles (which is probably a pretty important thing in KSP)? Free DLC restrictions on MS-Consoles etc.? -

Why want anybody like to develop for this awful console with its awful anti-consumer company? Besides the controler problem and console limitations there are way more issues why the x-box sucks: - they pretty much force companies to charge a fee for Addons and DLC - getting patches and updates out is a pain - constantly patching a game is almost impossible (you cant just roll out a patch on your own) - KSP without Modding? - You can rest assured that you wont be able to get mods on the xbox and if there were some you can be sure that they will be selected and only for money How can anyone actually like MS or the Xbox after what they showed? Its like they are punching their customers in the face again and again after asking "do you like us now"? -
[reflection] Using KSP as a base for an "X" game?
SpaceHole replied to slay_mithos's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I dont see the point why try to make something completely different out of this game? Also it wont work since there isnt even Multiplayer yet not to mention that it cant work since it is rather obvious that it already has problems with bigger ships from one player - just imagine what would happen if there were way more. -
I was wondering about that so any part that didnt explode will stay where it was put forever?

[Question] Tweaks and mods that lower system requirements?
SpaceHole replied to Th13f's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Never buy netbooks. Its neither a PC nor a Notebook nor a Tablet and most of those are pretty much useless. Even Notebooks are bad yet there are some rather good and "cheap" ones. On your problem: - Look up all your graphic-settings in windows - turn them down and turn things like vsync etc. to always off - Clear up your desctop, dont use a wallpaper - look up all your power-saving options and turn them to high performance - try to lower the resolution and turn down all settings in KSP (also try to play arround with the config files if there are some) - try to have almost nothing running in the background - defrag your hd - use a registry cleaner Maybe works: - force older direct x versions (you can force them it sometimes can help but i have no idea if it is a good idea with KSP) Last but not least never buy a netbook again if you want more than an expensive paperweight -
It is odd how some people seem to be offended here when someone asks for some features he deems important. I saw the same thing with a thread here about ENB-Mod. So because i would like a replay function to watch my successful missions this game is not for me. Sorry but some of the people here seem to have fallen for something i deem to be a bad thing - "Elitism". @others Yeah i realize that this is only an alpha build. I simply thought it would be a nice feature in a sandbox game. Especially since one actually rarely has the time to admire the game while trying to not crash. The hangar part was just an optional idea i probably should have made that clearer.

1) Most games where it makes sense? Especially in a game like this where its not that easy to enjoy your success and not starting to fail while doing so? For example Starcraft 2. I know Fraps the problem is that it will seriously limit your FPS and it will also require huge ammounts of disc-space. It would be way easy to just log game-data. 2) To look at your progress - see your failed and good designes and to get ideas for new crations? To me this game is about progress - learing and succeeding in doing new and greater things ingame. The problem is that you also have to have some time to actually enjoy those things - which is a rather hard thing to do while trying to not crash your creations.
-
Yeah i kind of relaize that yet some things like the DLC statements made it sound like it would be pretty much finished already. Well favourite feature i think its kind of a basic feature for a game where the main aim is to improve your own creations and enjoy success when getting something done. Which is why it would be really important to be able to see that progress and rewatch your success. Its not "unplayable" but it is affecting at least my gameplay fun. And to be honest from my point of view a tech-tree is probably not that important at this time? Thanks i have to read more about 1 1 seems pretty complicated. Yet i dont underestand why they dont just implement it. I played the demo and there were stats whenever a flight "ended" it cant be that hard to just save those stats ingame. 2 yeah i also was looking for mods already i wonder why this isnt a bigger "issue" - to make a bad comparison its like building something in minecraft but never beeing able to actually admire it since it dissapears once you finished ^^ 3 yeah thats what i mean but thats just a sugestion its alpha but it would be a nice feature to see your creations.

Pick what place to start flight in sandbox
SpaceHole replied to Ryding's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I also thought about that but i guess it would actually destroy play and replay value. Not to mention that you could just build anything in outerspace most of the fun is to actually get whatever you create from kerbal into space and beyond. -
I just bought the game and am a pretty dissapointed maybe i am missing some things? Or are the most basic functions really missing? - Flight data of past flights not saved? - No way to replay and watch your past flights? - no Hangar where you can watch your past creations? I really enjoy this game but those functions are pretty important at least to me (especiqally nr 1 and 2) Did i just miss those options or are they really missing?
