  1. That thing looks menacing! Looks like a screen grab from a sci-fi horror flick.
  2. I brought my boys back from another trip to Mun. However I came in too shallow and skipped off the atmosphere. Oops, sorry guys! Good thing I didn't ditch that stage! Alright, one more attempt. Nice view though. I feel good about this one. Yep, we're good. Stage! Nailed it. Next trip in sandbox will be my first attempt to Minmus.
  3. I wouldn't say a graphics card won't help. I was stuck with integrated graphics with my i5 3330 rig and barely got 10-15fps at 1280x720 on the lowest possible settings. However, last week I upgraded to an NVIDIA GTX650 graphics card and now my system can run KSP on 1080p at 60fps on max settings. Runs smooth as silk.
  4. I haven't been playing long and thought I was doing a good job keeping space clean. Turns out that I have 11 pieces of debris in various places, 3 of them are large tanks floating around in Kerbin orbit anywhere between 60-100k. I hope to avoid them, but I think it would be pretty epic if one came flying thru one of my outgoing ships. Preferably without killing a crew, lol.
  5. I liked these two shots from earlier today so much I added their fullsize versions to my wallpaper rotation folder.
  6. Landed on Mun once again, this is the 3rd time in total, 2nd successful landing, 1st time on max settings. I think I have the hang of this. Maybe I should push the envelope and try for Minmus. I also really need to make my own flag.
  7. "Disaster Transport I" It lived up to its name almost immediately.
  8. After getting my new GPU to work, I finally played KSP on max settings for the first time! To celebrate, Jeb told the clamps they could have the day off.
  9. This did the trick! https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/526031/gtx-650-problems/ Someone on the GeForce forums has the same computer as me and they were able to figure it out. Everything seems to be running fine, I do get the occasional issue with my wifi card though, probably because I had to move it to a different slot. But eventually it works. Now the only thing is I get a little message on my desktop screen saying something about SecureBoot not being configured correctly. Do you think I can enable that now that things are working? I'm afraid to go in there just in case I can get back to disable it again.
  10. No idea. I have it installed in the only PCIe slot.
  11. Everything is connected, computer runs just fine without the graphics card installed. With the card installed, the 6-pin cable is connected, the card is seated firmly in the slot, fan on the card is spinning. Also tried installing the drivers from NVidia's website, still no luck. It needs the card installed to work, yet with the card installed I can't see anything on the screen. Pretty damn frustrating.
  12. Tried that, it'll say no compatible hardware detected. Tried that too, nothing is displayed. The PC is supposed to automatically switch video output to the new card, but nothing is displayed on the screen. In fact, the monitor just goes to sleep because it isn't detecting a signal, kinda like if the computer has gone to sleep or something.
  13. Just tried powering everything up with the new GTX650 card installed, STILL having the same issues I had with the other card. Nothing is displayed on the screen. Really hard to install drivers or change the BIOS if I can't see anything.
  14. Took the GeForce GT610 back claiming it was defective, bought the GeForce GTX650 and an upgraded power supply for it. I took a chance because I didn't think the GTX650 would fit, but to my surprise, it did! However, the power supply was a no-go because it was missing one of the needed connections my computer has. So, gonna have to try again tomorrow. I still have no idea if the new 650 will even work with my computer. I may end up having the same problems as I did with the 610.
  15. Thanks for the tip. I don't have a whole lot of space in this casing and I think I can only use a single width card. As for changing the BIOS, I would love to. But I can't even get that to display with the card installed. Without it installed, no such option exists.
  16. Thanks, I went with a cheaper card, picked up the PNY GeForce GT610. However I am running into issues. I followed the instructions to a T, yet nothing seems to be working right. I installed the card, plugged everything back in, including the HDMI cable (then the VGA cable after the first few failed attempts) into the new card. Power the rig up and get no display. Monitor isn't detecting a signal. Shut it down, tried plugging the display cable (either the HDMI or VGA) into the old ports, power it up, still nothing. Supposedly the PC automatically changes the graphics BIOS when a PCI Express graphics card is installed, however I don't know if it's working or something. Could it be the card itself? The fan is running on the card, so I know it's getting power. I can't see the computer screen to install the drivers, and the drivers won't install if the card is not installed in the computer. I don't understand, it's just not working.
  17. Right now I have a prebuilt Dell PC, running Intel i5 3330. It has Intel integrated graphics with an open PCI Express slot for expansion, 8GB of RAM. Right now I have to play KSP on the lowest settings and yet I still get some stuttering. I was thinking about getting a new graphics card, how much would that improve things? Was looking at the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650Ti. I'm not all that computer hardware savvy.
  18. Currently at KSC taking some needed R&R after spending weeks doing laps around Mun. I was too chicken to land there up until today and managed to get him and his buddies back home in 1 piece. He'll be preparing for science here soon.
  19. I finally landed on Mun successfully! I am awful at this game, and while I've landed on Mun before, I wouldn't necessarily call that "successful". This time though, I finally made it, with plenty of fuel to spare. I didn't realize I was on the deck due to a lack of shadows. Post card worthy. Note: you can see Minmus in the top left of the picture. During the return trip, which I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I was just hoping for the best, but I did realize that I had a HUGE amount of speed to scrub off, over 3000m/s. A lot of speed, I was actually starting to worry I was coming in too hot. But no, in the end she slowed down nicely and I was able to float down safely. Whew! Too bad this was started before the 0.22 update, I didn't get any science credit. But at least I can say I been to the Mun and back!
  20. Be honest, while it probably startled the crap out of you, it was also probably really cool to see happen. With all the crap that's out around our own planet, I'm surprised we don't hear about collisions more often. Isn't that what the movie "Gravity" is about, debris collision in orbit?
  21. I wouldn't think about it for too much longer. The game is on sale right now on Steam, might as well bite on it while it's cheap.
  22. Got my guys into Mün orbit. That was the easy part. Next up, landing the damn thing.
