I'm just hoping for some performance optimizations soon. I know my PC isn't exactly a gaming rig persay, but damn this is rough. I know it's running an entire solar system, so I can imagine that it's pretty tough.
I use Fraps, mainly because for some reason there is no way to send sound thru the HDMI port (which I use) on my PC, which makes using my Elgato Game Capture HD device pretty useless. However, Fraps does reduce framerate of the game a little bit, at least on my machine.
I'm sorry, I was right in the middle of another Mun landing (that again didn't go well). I have no idea where the name Steve came from, lol. Speaking of, here's the ship sometime before it went bouncing off the Mun's surface, again. It's the Kerbal X preloaded ship, I just added lights and solar arrays. I still ran out of fuel, again. Now I have to change my death count
I technically didn't make the map itself, but I did use the mapping in Scott Manley's video and created this single map to help folks find some of the easter eggs on Mün. These are the big ones anyway, I'm sure there are more now. Still, I hope it can help someone. I think it helps me for finding some of these things. Video I got this from:
I'll be specific, landing on Mün. Seems easy for some, but for me and the 5 Kerbans I've killed, dozens of failed missions, it's pretty damn difficult. Conserving fuel and landing specifically. I haven't even gotten to the returning home part. I haven't tried docking and such yet. Let's get the improbable feat of landing on Mün figured out first. Been trying all weekend.
Falls from thousands of meters, I don't think so. I just killed Bill from a fall at 2500m. He went "puff" onto the surface of Mün during a rescue mission to save him. His forward velocity may have had something to do with it as well. I have dropped them off the top of the rocket they were once sitting it at the launch pad a hundred meters onto the ground without issues. I was worried the first time but turns out they're like bumbles. Because everyone knows bumbles bounce.
I've seen KSP on the Imgur front page a couple times. It's rare, but it's a pleasant sight when it happens. I thought it was really cool with a small group of people cosplayed Bill, Jeb and Bob at a convention (PAX I think). Here it is: http://imgur.com/gallery/XBryUCr
There will be another launch, I believe on Sept 17, from VA on a mission to the ISS. I saw the article on my Win8 news app, but when I went back to the app the article was gone. Stupid thing.
Sweet! Thanks for the link. I wonder if any of my friends on the east coast will be able to see it. I remember seeing launches from all the way in DE back in the day when I lived out there.
The performance lag. Unless you have an incredible PC, this game runs with a really slowly. The game is such a resource hog for reasons unbeknownst to me. Probably because it's running the entire solar system continuously all the time. That's a lot for my little PC to handle.
I tried sending a rescue mission to pick up my stranded Kerbals on the Mün and misjudged the speed of time warp, slamming the rescue ship into the side of Mün so hard that debris shot back out into space. Lesson learned, don't rush things in this game.
I finally landed on Mün for the first time. Mind you it was a crash landing and everything was destroyed except the command module. All 3 Kerbals survived, so I put them all on EVA and planted the flag. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get Bill, Jeb and Bob back home.
Thanks, yeah I thought that was weird when I saw that. My issue when I attempted to land on Mün was running out of fuel. I used a preloaded rocket, the Kerbal X. It was probably not designed to landings on Mün.
I just made my first ever Mün landing today. It didn't go well, however our trio of heroes did survive, in fact the command module was the only thing to survive the landing. So, now I get to figure out how to save them. I couldn't even land on Mün safely, now I have to figure out a rescue mission? Crap, lol. And, I didn't even land in the right crater to check out the easter eggs.
Hello KSP Community! I picked up KSP the day after the Steam Summer Sale (yep, dropped the ball on that one), and have been failing, I mean playing, this game ever since. I enjoy it, even though I'm terrible at it. Figured I should join the forum to see if I can learn a few things so I can stop crash landing into Mun.
