Transfer Progress to a new computer
jduchock replied to lordmicron's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
True words ! KSP is highly portable due to the install package. You can basically copy your entire directory from one system to another (or even put it on a USB drive). If you have already done a full installation, just look in the saves directory for your saved games which can also transfer (NOTE: save games require that you have the same mods on source and target systems or you will not be able to use your in-flight ships and stuff) -
146 seems about par...i was over 100 before i made a "manual" mun landing. Then mechjeb spoiled it a bit for me... but even after installing MJ, i am just under 1100 hours playing, so it wasn't an "end game cheat" sort of thing at all...

Single mission science points record in v0.22
jduchock replied to lajoswinkler's topic in KSP1 Discussion
most points in a single mission = over 10k (thank you impossible innovations) ...mod made it too easy, so i dont use much of it any more... -

I have tried most mods out there and can say that if you want realism, NovaPunch feels a bit like a cheat. Not because it is a bad mod, mind you...it's great !...it's just that NP now is a collection of otherwise abandoned mods that have been folded into one big one and kept up to date quite nicely. The number and scope of parts, however, make it fantastically easy to build outstanding ships. The engines are NOT overpowered, but you do tend to get some good stuff too early in the NovaPunch career tree that comes with it. I guess you could take the time to update each part config so that it lands where you want it to on the tree, but seems like a lot of work. While i fully enjoy the mod in sandbox, i tend to keep it out of most of my career trees as it makes it a bit too easy. ...however, if it is easy you want, go with Impossible Innovations. It is still a little bit challenging as all the uber deu/tri stuff is very late in the custom tree (but then again, you only really need one of those engines to change the entire game difficulty to "nub"). For now, i am working with Interstellar (LINK) which does add warp drive, but the custom tree does make it a challenge to get to. It also has some additional science stuff that does add to career science. Dont forget about City Lights and Clouds...IMHO: one of the best realism mods being worked on (LINK) Realistic sound?...haven't tried yet but intend to: (LINK) Lastly, there is a fairly new mod called Realistic Progression (LINK). I haven't tried it yet, but i do have all weekend to finish Interstellar and pick this one up next

While in build mode, i find myself accidentally clicking the wrong part when trying to move things like struts and attachments. I also noticed that when you hover over a part, it turns slightly white (along with it's icon in the staging list). I would like to suggest that you provide either an alternate color that is easier to see (bright red?) or the ability for the user to modify the color that items are shaded during "on hover" events. The problem gets really bad when you have spent an hour building a three layer asparagus/onion configuration (without saving) and accidentally click an inner engine thereby messing up your fuel hose routing...talk about frustrating... Thanks guys !

[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements
jduchock replied to rbray89's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Found my problem: believe it or not, it was the driver for my monitor (28 inch HD)... To test this, i moved my video output to my 51 inch HDTV and ran it for about a week with no crashing. After moving back to my monitor, crashing started again. after doing a bit of research, it was a win8 driver issue with my monitor. After updating it, crashing stopped.... ....but things looked so damn good on the big-ass TV, i moved everything to the den and am playing from the couch now !! -
GRAVITY ASSIST...that was the term that i was looking for and just couldn't remember it...

yeah, i saw the same site and have bookmarked it and set an outlook reminder so i can keep checking on it... Im hoping a mod will see this thread and clarify...

I used to all-out dV myself, but found that it was HIGHLY inefficient. To leave LKO, i set the Mun up for a Hohmann transfer then move the node around a bit in order to get a "spin-off" form the Mun to break Kerbal orbit. This typically uses half the dV required to do a straight break (approx 400± less dV). With that in mind, every time you leave the surface of a planet, head for it's moon and use it as a flinger
-
I cannot seem to find clarification sifting thru the forums, so i will straight-up ask: Will the 2013 Kerbalkon be a live event that one can travel to and attend or will it only be a live stream? I go to a lot of game conferences with my kids and grandkids and since we are all Kerbalites, we would like to see if we can attend... Thanks in advance !

Thanks for the link...i wasn't sure where to get them... and now that i have reset my tree, i can do a ribbon set for real !!

45 - I create rockets only (i suck at planes) and go for effectiveness depending on the mod and tree i am using. I keep all my lifters as asparagus peel sub-components: - Light lifter = ±44 parts - Medium lifter = ±85 parts - Heavy lifter - ± 120 parts - Super Heavy lifter = ± 200 parts
-
well, i tried to flag every body, but found that my dV calculations SUCK.... so, i added 30,000 science points, 10 mods and a warp drive... ...now i am struggling to get the damn warp ship into orbit
