  1. I have the latest version of KSP and installed this mod last week. Everything worked fine until today when Jeb made Kerbkind's first Mun landing and didn't get a ribbon for it. He did get a surface eva and all other ribbons associated with orbiting and walking on the mun. Is there a place where we can manually award those ribbons?
  2. If you're not averse to mods and some basic coding you can download the KOS mod. There are samples of code out there for creating autonomous rovers.
  3. Having problems with the mod. Neither 0.11 or 0.12 works for me - game crashes on load. I've got a pretty heavily modded game, but when I remove the Interstellar folder from Game Data, the game launches properly. Not sure how to insert error log file, but I've got some if they would be helpful. Cheers, D.
  4. Sorry if this has been asked before (I only had time to peruse the posts). When I EVA a Kerbal right now, it sends him out with zero resources. I immediately get the "...has run out of..." messages for all resources and get the red negative numbers. I have left the configuration setup as default, except for disabling respawn. Is there a config file that I can edit to get around this, or is there a known cause. Note - this is for the 0.24.2 and the latest version of TAC. Thanks!
  5. Personally I'm hoping somebody adds a Holtzman, fold-space drive. Only a 10% chance of reaching your destination alive until you unlock Melange addicted, precient Kerbals floating in spice tanks from the tech tree.
  6. I would like to see animations, but not in a cut-scene format. For surface samples the Kerbal should reach down and pick something up, for EVA report the Kerbal should look around a bit, and maybe jot something down on a wrist mounted note-pad, and so on. The idea of seeing the experiment's results is intriguing on a certain level, but I don't like it just for the sake of having a visualization. If you had to actually note your observation, and making the correct observation affected the amount of science you got, that might be interesting. So if the goo is wobbling, and you mark down that it is bouncing, you get less science because you're bad at making observations. But then you have to ask yourself what this game should really be about, and is this just too much fine detail. Personally I'm hoping for more scenarios in which to run experiments, and more elaborate set ups for the experiments - like an impactor, where you set up seismic equipment on the surface, maybe a multispectral camera aimed at the impact site, then crash a probe at a precise location to gain data.
  7. I would be very interested in this mod. I would suggest that there should be a calculator built in to help you estimate how long a Kerbal can survive in different situations given the amount and type of shielding on a craft in the VAB (like the TAC Life support caltulator). The values it spits out could be dependent on research that you have done in the different environments, which would further encourage players to send probes with radiation sensing devices out into space and to the surface of other planets before going with a manned mission. For solar flares, I'd like there to be some way to set up an observation/early-warning system so that you can plan the orbital maneuvers of ongoing missions accordingly - ie, delay a burn or launch if you know your Kerbals are going to have to be in the lead box in a few hour's time. Great job on the concept though.
  8. Did you revert the flight? Maybe quickload to a quicksave made before the mission?
  9. Nice! That looks like the life support beer-keg; a must-have on interplanetary trips. Awesome work, I'm super excited about the TAC pack! Thanks for all your effort.
  10. You know... I think that the Kerbals have suffered just about enough from this "they all look the same to me" attitude. This discrimination will not stand!
  11. Oh, cool. I didn't know about that. I'll give it a try - thanks!
  12. Is it just me, or does this pack make Kerbin really, really blue? In the startup splash screen you can't see any land at all. In LKO you can see bits of green land off to the horizon, but directly under the ship it's all blue. Is there a way to turn down the atmospheric scattering a bit?
  13. Eugene Cernan wrote his daughter's initials on the moon at the end of the Apollo 17 mission.
  14. I do think that the game should have optional modes that remove certain choices. I personally don't want revert to launch completely removed because I like to test my designs. But once I'm done testing, and I've decided to do a real launch, I would like there to be a no-turning-back mode so that if all hell breaks loose, I can't just hit the revert button during the initial shock and disappointment of the disaster. Like when I killed Jeb, Bill, and Bob in one go when my science plane crashed on take-off during it's maiden flight. The temptation to revert in my deepening sense of regret and loss was almost insurmountable - if any other additional disappointment had occurred simultaneously (like if my Eggo-waffles had started to burn in the toaster), I surely could not have faced the reality of life without those three heroes.
  15. I write things like: "Hans Kerman Memorial. In loving memory of Hans, who gave his life in the name of science and the advancement of Kerbkind. He took one step at timewarp 4, and poof, he was no more. Let his abandoned ship stand as a memorial to his brave sacrifice (actually, I took his ship and left mine because his was in slightly better shape. But you get the Idea). Signed, Bob." "Second Mun Landing Site. On this spot Kerbals first set foot on the Mun for a second time. Bravely making their initial return to the place where others had previously been - well, they hadn't been exactly here, the first-first ones landed a little ways away from where this first-second landing site is - partly because the first one had been done, partly because there's more science here! Oh, and as before, we're here in peace for all Kerbkind, again. Bill Kerman."
  16. So I copied the KSP folder to the root of my C: drive, and it runs fine right out of the box. Seems like the permissions restrictions in the Program Files folder causes all kinds of problems if you move your game there. Only question left: When I launched my C:/ksp copy, it tried to connect to the internet! I had my firewall block it since my whole goal is to stop it from upgrading when the new version comes out. Does the non-Steam version of KSP also communicate with the web when launched, or is there something that Steam installs that persistently tries to make contact?
  17. Well, I seem to have found a solution. I launched my Steam copy and made a quicksave, then I copied the save folder over to the non-Steam copy. Loading the quicksave moved me forward to the correct time and loaded the missing vessels. Now I just have to find out where the GUIs for Kethane, Engineer, and my life support went....
  18. Hmmmmmm. I've copied the KSP folder out to the Program Files (x86) folder a couple of times now, but every time that I fire up the program and start my savegame, it's a day earlier, I've got one fewer tech nodes unlocked, and as a result I'm missing satellites. I've compared the persistent file, and it shows all the same tech nodes available. I haven't seen where it records the date yet, but unless that's different, I'm at a loss for why I don't get the identical game state loaded in the copied version.
  19. Interesting, I'll have to take a look at that. Thanks for the suggestion. My overall goal is to avoid KSP being upgraded when the next version comes out. Can I accomplish this by using the KSP.exe in the Steam folder? Or do I have to move KSP right out of the Steam folders?
  20. Hi all, I've tried to copy my KSP folder to a location outside of the Steam folders, and the game launches fine, but a number of my in-progress flights are missing, and when I look at the game time it's a day earlier than in the Steam folder game. Are there save game files that are located outside of the KSP main folder that I also need to move? Thanks.
  21. Last I heard, you will eventually be able to teach them to perform tasks on their own. The attributes will affect how well they carry them out.
  22. lol - just slightly overly harsh. Sounds like you've also not really had a good look at DRE, because it has a configuration GUI where you can adjust everything from heating to g force tolerance on the fly. So if the mod is running unrealistic numbers for you, it's your own fault.
  23. I've mostly got names that describe what the ship does: Kerbin MapSat Alpha Munar ComSat Beta Munar Explorer I I just started a new career, and am currently doing a series of missions with the "Kerbin Science Explorer of Science II" - Now comes with batteries!
