  1. Depends on how VAB/SPH Controls are handled. Constructing craft will probably be a clumsy experience at best, inaccurate at worst. Everything in the flight scene should handle fine, as the controls should be fairly straight forward.
  2. @pellinor Figured I'd post this here. Tweaks ale used to adjust part volumes as you rescale parts but I can't seem to do this anymore. Would there be a way to support this?
  3. Having issues with Tweakscaled parts retaining their original volumes. This used to not be the case and hampers some construction techniques, such as building small communication arrays for smaller bases, resizing solar panels for adding on after landing on site.
  4. @Pine, thank you for the compliment. Check out Pak's Shuttle Lifting Body (aka, Cormorant) mod for stock-a-like Shuttle and Buran orbiter parts. Edit: and yes, I'd love to see a time lapse. That would be cool.
  5. Concerning the issue CKAN and mod developers are having at current, I decided to make a post to the r/KerbalSpaceProgram thread, and I will post it here for the sake of the conversation:
  6. Docking ports connected directly to moving parts causes shenanigans. Place a part in between the port and a servo for best results.
  7. Not yet. There is still some tweaking to do, and building stock stacks for the purists.
  8. And that Buran is the easiest shuttle to fly. When I finish the STS, you'll see. STS is a finicky girl, but that Buran just breezes on by without a care in the world.
  9. It looks like it is above the 2 engines , but not quite midline.
  10. @Pak, just so I'm clear (and not rooting around forever my parts tabs :p), the Orbiter Attachment Hardware you linked to on page 16 isn't available yet, correct? My sleep deprived brain is struggling right now, and did not see it in the last patch notes. EDIT: Mr. Meeb and I would like to to make some .craft files for you, Pak. I've made the initial orbiters, and will make both a modded and "stock" (Cormorant/Stock) only set. "Stock" Orbiters:
  11. Wanna help me make some stock and modded Buran and STS shuttles for people to download?
  12. I'll be providing feedback when I get home later. MAY TESTING CONTINUE, AND MORE KERBALS BE OFFED OFFERED ON THE ALTERS OF SCIENCE.
  13. Kerbal Low Riders! Even has a Convertible hard top! @MrMeeb, I've never seen that error. Install issue of another mod, or game file corruption maybe?
  14. So taking Pak's suggestions of using the Direct mod, I was able to get a 200 km x 20 km initial ascent orbit. To add to that, there was still some LqdHyd/Ox left in the EFT! No OMS needed. I needed less than a short OMS circularization burn, and that's with a full HabTech module, 4 EVA packs, Airlock, Truss and Canadarm in the payload bay! Great mod suggestion, @Pak. I'll upload the craft file on KerbalX later
  15. Soooooo, I love these Puma parts. I've been toying with them for a few days now, and I'm surprised by their flexibility.
  16. To add to this, I highly suggest downloading the Jettison Fuel and RCS Build Aid mods. RCS Build Aid will help a ton with figuring out your ET placement, SME rotation, and fine-tuning your CoM/CoL. Handy and extremely useful mods, for both shuttles and other orbiters/landers.
  17. Not really, I've just done a ton of testing with my design, and sacrificing many kerbals to science. >:3
  18. I've found that while Trajectories gives you a good idea of where the orbiter will land, it's better to set it up short by aiming the crosshairs on or behind the mountain. Why? Because you're generating a lot of lift on reentry and you will overshoot KSC by 20-50 Km or so. Plan to land short so your glider can, you know, glide in properly. I've been able to touch down at about 125 m/s to 70m/s. Not always on the runway, but pretty close to it.
  19. I for one look forward to drifting the STS to a stop, having Jeb hop out, put some shade on with KIS/KAS, and watching the sunset.
  20. I still think the extra 4 parts for an adapter are pretty negligible in the scheme of things (or 2 if you use HabTek's or cxAerospace's PMAs). Pak said these parts are loosely modeled after the hardware the actual STS used, so adding an extendable docking port seems a bit out of his intended scope. Nertea's extendable docking port looks like it works just fine, so why not just use that?
  21. The extra weight helps keep the CoM more towards the lower-front of the craft, Which helps out a ton.
  22. No FAR, but they do slow you down. KSP does account for drag, just not in the same way FAR does. Craft Files below: STS, NO ET. STS WITH the ET. Note: apparently I used KW Struts for the ET linkage. My bad.
