[1.12.x] Mark IV Spaceplane System (August 18, 2024)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It never left. People using an unsupported 1.3 mod in 1.4 just didn't have it. -
totm sep 2021 [1.12] Stockalike Station Parts Redux (August 14, 2024)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You can always keep using them. The old mod just won't get updates . It can be installed alongside very easily and cleanly with no overlap or conflicts, this was done for exactly your situation so you have an easier time making a transition. -

The way the stock things are configured, if you don't have enough radiators and the part gets too hot, it will throttle like a CPU. It's a simplification because I guess heat simulation didn't get much attention. You can get constant production by just using one value (key = 0 whateverYouWantInKw*50) in the TemperatureModifier block.

[1.12.x] Near Future Technologies (September 6)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Ah yeah that is way too little capacity. Match the Required Cooling for the reactor in the VAB to the total Core Heat XFer on the radiators. I think those rads are 1000 kW each, that reactor requires something like 9000 kW. -
[1.12.x] Near Future Technologies (September 6)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Nobody seems to have issues. Have you activated your radiators? Do you have enough radiators? If you're using stock fixed radiators, are they within 1 part of the reactors? A screenshot of your craft would probably help. -
[1.12.x] Near Future Technologies (September 6)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I did a really quick look at one figure which shows the exact look at the EP arcs - one arc is about 2/3 around the earth's orbit, so would take about 2/3 of a year. Super scientific! A better way would be to calculate the mass flow rate of the 4 engines, then divide the total mass of Xe carried. That would get the maximum total burn time. It's a variant, you can toggle between a version with engine nodes and one without with closed engine pods. There are tradeoffs. The reactor will of course run out of fuel in a few years, it is several times as expensive, and is roughly mass-equal to an advanced solar panel. There are economies of scale as well, the largest 3.75m reactor is about 1.4x as mass-efficient as the smallest one. -

Pushed 1.0.10 update with those accidentally included files removed. -

Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Ugh that's not right. It's probably the problem. That stuff is supposed to be cleaned by the build script. I'll make a fix later today. -
[1.12.x] Near Future Technologies (September 6)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Nothing clean enough to recommend, unfortunately. PersistentThrust used to exist. Haha, no... Check this paper: http://issfd.org/ISSFD_2014/ISSFD24_Paper_S6-5_jehn.pdf. It will do burns on the order of 200 days at a time. I've been doing Dropbox as a backup distribution method for a while. It doesn't make it any easier to update a common package when one submod is updated. -

22M ./StationPartsExpansionRedux/Internals/station-375/sspx-internal-375-8-n.dds 22M ./StationPartsExpansionRedux/Internals/station-375/sspx-internal-375-8.dds 22M ./StationPartsExpansionRedux/Internals/station-375/sspx-internal-375-7-n.dds 22M ./StationPartsExpansionRedux/Internals/station-375/sspx-internal-375-7.dds 22M ./StationPartsExpansionRedux/Internals/station-375/sspx-internal-375-6-n.dds 22M ./StationPartsExpansionRedux/Internals/station-375/sspx-internal-375-6.dds All the 22 mb textures are internal textures. Specifically these are for the 3.75m centrifuges, which have huge, huge amounts of internal space to cover. More than any other part's internal by at least a factor of 10. If you look at the 5.4 mb squad internal textures.... 5,4M ./Squad/Spaces/mk1pod_IVA/mk1pod_iva_shell_normal.dds 5,4M ./Squad/Spaces/mk1pod_IVA/mk1pod_iva_shell_diffuse.dds 5,4M ./Squad/Spaces/mk1pod_IVA/mk1pod_iva_props_normal.dds 5,4M ./Squad/Spaces/mk1pod_IVA/mk1pod_iva_props_diffuse.dds Look, the mk1 pod internal uses a total of 22 mb, and it's a tiny, tiny part. The SSPXr internals are extremely efficient by comparison. -

Delete the IVAs. They use ~2/3 of the total memory footprint of the mod. -

Yes that's correct. What does it even mean. -
[1.12.x] Near Future Technologies (September 6)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Oh, I mean your reactor power-per-kg can improve with the newer balance numbers that you're migrating to - no need to go all the way to 1.5. -
[1.12.x] Near Future Technologies (September 6)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
If it's any consolation, once you make the switch, you will get some better performance than before! It was fine dude! Best to wait a week. -

It's not that well tested, so use at own risk, and let me know if it doesn't at all work or something. -
[1.12.x] Near Future Technologies (September 6)
Nertea replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
NF Propulsion was recompiled, as new content was added. The rest are configuration, dependency and distribution changes. If you don't care about those you can stick with the ones you have. -
