  1. Actually the F-1B uses a different, open cycle. The propellent used to drive the turbo pumps is not combined in the Bell anymore like the original F-1. This lowers efficiency by a few percentage points to greatly reduce cost. You can clearly see this by the large chute on the outside of the bell. The original F-1 combined the exhaust gasses mid way down the bell (And Frizzank Did a great job modeling that on his F-1s! The way the F-1B is set up is closer to the older Lr-87/Lr-105 of Atlas or Titan fame. http://cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/eande-f1bchart.jpg
  2. RE Various problems with Command Pods etc. I too was having problems with command pods (or even Kerbals themselves) not working. I was also having issues with controlability. I have partially diagnosed the issue. This is not a full answer nor is it a complete one. In MY case I found that having FASA and Denny's Apollo mod at the same time with all the other mods I was running was causing the game to bug out. None of my Science items (Either Squad or Mod based) would work and the only info My kerbals would give me was the number of rems/rads they were exposed to. I could plant a flag but no other options were available. At first I tried a re-install of KSP. Then I tried installing one mod at a time. The last mod I was to install was Denny's and when I installed it I had the problem re-appear. I am still testing and I am going to try running only FASA + Denny's Saturn V before I add the other mods back in to see what I can see. THIS STATEMENT DOES NOT MEAN THAT FASA and Denny's Saturn V Mod are INCOMPATIBLE. Far from it. I have not tested out to eliminate the mod(s) that are causing my issues yet, I have not had time this weekend. I can tell you I have removed Lazor and all ancillary sub mods, I have removed Denny's Mod, and I have removed about 12 other mods. ONE of them is causing the issue, I just don't know WHAT ONE yet! I know I have said this 3 or 4 times. I know Frizzank has said this probably 150 times (I have not counted,) and I KNOW it is on the first page of this forum.... TRY WITH A CLEAN INSTALL with NO MODS! Then add one mod at a time until it breaks. It will generally fix everything and tell you what mods are not working. I actually have two builds of KSP on my computer, one for playing and one for testing mod compatibility. Lastly, no offense to Ferram as he did a great job trying to make aerodynamics better. But I have completely stopped using FAR. Aside from fixing some gross Inertia/drag issues (infinite gliders etc,) It does not address the key issues, as I see them, with Aerodynamics in KSP. 3. I have never heard this. I don't play with music on and I have no clue what you are hearing. Then again I have only flown the LEM twice. I am more focused on my Refueling station I am currently working on and the new ARM missions rather than landing on the Mun that late in the tech tree. Once I get my warp jump ship done, I will use the LEM on the appropriate Moons of Jool.
  4. Er, um, because you might want to talk to someone in RL? I know I personally can not wait. A REAL Saturn II INT-18 is in the offing soon ... My current replica based on the Saturn IB that Frizzank has graciously made for us just isn't quite... big enough to work well. Now I have to choose between going and Seeing Winter Soldier or Flying the Saturn V and II INT-18.... err um.... errr.... Ideas anyone?
  5. Nope, it was me. I copied an old Sub Assembly folder from another save in after I installed the mod. Everything is A-OK
  6. First off, good to know I didn't kill the forum. I will admit I might not have copied all the sub-assemblies. I copied on a date modified basis, IE if the date was more than a week before the previous release I didn't copy it. That being said. With official release I THOUGHT I copied all the sub-assemblies right out of the Zip. Re-downloading now (again.) Will apprise when the game finally starts
  7. Friizzank, Minor error found. The Subassembly for the Saturn IB has Gemini Wings for it's tail fins.
  8. errr.. um Did i kill the forum?
  9. Gratz and welcome to the fun of FASA!
  10. True but those are ablative blankets. AKA they burn off during the ascent. So toward the end of the flight the engines are hunky-dory Okay.
  11. um, YES PLEASE! That prototype looks AMAZING. I can not wait to roll out my Saturn II with the final Crawler.
  12. As stated on the first page, your steps are 1) RE DOWNLOAD 3.84 and try again, If that doesn't work 2)Try a CLEAN install with FASA your only mod to start. If that works add one mod at a time until you find the offending one that is causing the issues. Without that information there is nothing either mod creator (Frizzank or the creator of the mod that is interfering with FASA) can do. As you can see the rest of us are not having any issues like you are seeing. Also you DID read the release notes where Science was moved around a bit yes? Yes it is a sucky process to go through (I had to go through it a month ago myself.) But it is the only way for a Mod Creator to improve their work to work around things (if they in fact can be worked around.)
  13. Unity3D.com. Good luck. They apparently haven't gotten a 64bit version of Unity running stably in anything but Linux.
  14. Err, One of the various Saturn II Proposals had 4 UA1205 (Titan SRBs) included..... Stage one was often the S-II Stage and 4 Titan 5 or 6 Segment SRBs were strapped on.
  15. Oops, I meant S1B stage. I am actually looking forward to the Saturn V so I can make Saturn II I am big on alternate theory craft (my entire publishing career has either been Alternative Proposals or Data alignment.) Given all the Alternate Theory craft in FASA, I am hooked! Pappystein
  16. Suit Request. The Last Starfighter. Primarily Khaki Tan with a Cream/Neutral/True White Stripe. http://ansionnachfionn.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/the_last_starfighter-1024x768.jpg?w=604&h=453 http://www.fearthegooberzilla.com/pics/starfighter04.JPG http://www.fearthegooberzilla.com/pics/starfighter02.JPG TIA! 17. Is there any chance that, upon loading the game could learn what capsule is unlocked, and produce THAT capsules patch.. EG at game start I get FASA's Mercury Pod, by default all new Kerbals get the Mercury Patch. Then when start a new game after unlocking the Gemini, I switch to my default texture being that with the Gemini patch?
  18. I confirm the Mercury Bug, was about to upload my own picture. I can not confirm the J2 bug but I only ran the SIV Stage with one of them. RE J2 having too much thrust. I am totally guessing here but given earlier comments I am assuming Frizzank has tweaked the performance to match reported real life, not X fuel for Y Seconds at Z thrust, rather Flew this far at this speed kind of match. 19. Downloading now. Will try in sandbox after it is down
  20. First before anyone asks, I USE FAR. Now, I have not been able to replicate your issue with either the stock S1B or my S2 analog I built. That being said, FAR has soo many physics breaking issues that it is almost not worth using. It is a SLIGHT improvement over the default engine in terms of aircraft in horizontal flight (G Limited, assumes Control surface stall is entire wing stall etc.) It fixes a control surface bug that caused gliders to fly for ever and gain speed and altitude. It however has serious issues with same control surfaces when attached to wings. It would be real nice if FAR had a button to disable it. Even aircraft do not fly the way FAR says they do. Yet FAR is the best solution for Aerospace planes ATM.
  21. Not that I am playing WoW (My friends are right now) but Blizzard has posted on their servers that there are intertubes issues ATM. So Likely an internet issue.
  22. I think you were referring to Atlas. After all until it's SLV-III form, it still had a lot of hereditary parts from the original Atlas ICBM.
  23. LoVE the Bomb! Pictures Dr Strangelove with a Saturn V instead of a B-52 as the launcher for the bomb!
  24. or you could use Kerbal Joint reinforcement. I am using it and have zero issues with any stage, unless I power a lower stage with the RD171 from the Soviet engine pack. Then I have break issues with the SIVB stage. it's Engine adapter likes to break off under the G load of the RD-171 underneath it (RD171 is ~5000kn in game,) I have Not tweaked those engines down to match Scale down/ tweak down done by Frizzank or other modders.) Bobcat has them built for realityish performance, not Kerbal performance...
  25. I downloaded it an hour ago with no issues. What are you using to un-compress the file? Also are you deleting your Gamedata/FASA directory before expanding the new file into KSP?
