ISRO has released this nice .pdf explaining the mars mission, a nice diagram of the propulsion system and ofcourse, a lot of numbers.

Gentlemen, I must say that this one of the most exciting plans I have seen in a forum ! I really hope we can send a CubeSat ( hopefully Green and with Jeb's pic ) into space. one the biggest hurdle seems to the cost of launching it ( assuming we don't get a free ride ) could we try launchers other than NASA ? perhaps the Indians or the Chinese ? the launch rates are far cheaper and the they good track records.

You're not going to space today - IRL version.

Its good to see other nations investing in space technology ! go Argentina !! -
We are soooooo close !! from the FB page, posted on 23/8/14

I can just see those teens whining and complaining that they cant understand it; KSP needs more than a few minutes of game-play to realize how amazing it can be. that being said, the exposure would do wonders for the devs and the game's popularity. On the topic of interest in space exploration, I live in India and the amount of interest here is a bit better ( probably because our space program is kicking ass right now; not the level of NASA or the Russians ofcourse )

Status update !! The second Trajectory Correction Manoeuvre (TCM-2) of India's Mars Orbiter Spacecraft was successfully performed on June 11, 2014 at 1630 hrs IST. TCM-2 was performed by firing the spacecraft’s 22 Newton thrusters for a duration of 16 seconds. At present, the radio distance between the Spacecraft and the Earth is 102 million km. A radio signal from the Earth to the Spacecraft now takes about 340 seconds. The spacecraft so far has traveled a distance of 466 million km as part of its total Journey of 680 million km. ISRO is continuously monitoring Mars Orbiter Spacecraft using Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN). The spacecraft and its five scientific instruments are in good health.

A small but important mod ! well done and thank you -
From the Official ISRO site.. Today (April 09, 2014) at 9:50 am IST, India's Mars Orbiter Spacecraft crossed the half-way mark of its journey to the Red Planet along the designated helio-centric trajectory. Mars Orbiter Spacecraft was launched onboard PSLV-C25 on November 05, 2013. On December 01, 2013, Trans Mars Injection manoeuvre was conducted successfully and the Spacecraft was set in its course towards Planet Mars through a helio-centric trajectory. Soon after the Spacecraft crossed the sphere of influence of Earth, a Trajectory Correction Manoeuvre (TCM) was performed successfully on December 11, 2013. ISRO has been continuously monitoring the Spacecraft using its Deep Space Network complemented by that of NASA-JPL. As the Spacecraft is on its designated trajectory, the TCM planned for April 2014 is not considered essential. If required, the next TCM is planned to be carried out in June 2014. Mars Orbiter Spacecraft and its five scientific instruments are in good health. Periodic tests are being done on the different levels of autonomy built into the Spacecraft for managing contingencies. At present, the radio distance between the Spacecraft and the Earth is 39 million km. A signal from the Earth to the Spacecraft and back to Earth takes 4 minutes and 15 seconds. Soon, the High Gain Antenna of the Spacecraft will be put in service for handling communications with the ground stations. The Mars Orbit Insertion (MOI) manoeuvre would be performed on September 24, 2014.

Why on earth would anyone change the B-date to match a report on " Problems of rocket Flight into the Stratosphere " ?
-
The Indian PSLV, because its Indian and the Saturn V because it is just awesome

This is an significant achievement for ISRO as this will reduce our reliance on the Ariane 5 Rocket for heavy payloads, and also puts in the market for launching Satellites (upto 2.5 tons) to Geo-stationary orbits. a Mark of accuracy was that they achieved an orbit which was accurate to about 40 meters at perigee and 5 KM at apogee.

the Press-meet has just concluded and they have reported a completely successful launch of the GSLV D-5, and the operation of the Cryogenic engine, making India the 6th nation to design and launch a cryogenic rocket engine.

yes, I am very exited, This time I will be right outside the Launch center and Oh, I actually posted some Images in this thread if anyone is interested.

Thsi is a good video explaining the GSLV and the cryo engine ( ignoring the sub-par voice over )
-
here is link to a video showing the Rocket Integration,( this time they seem to have left out the 80's music ) http://www.isro.org/video-gslvd5.aspx ps. can someone tell me how to download that video ?

While the MOM is proceeding as planned, ISRO is launching the GSLV ( Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle ) on 5th January 2014, The GSLV has been a troublesome project for ISRO; with seven launches and three failures so far. the GSLV-D5 is the second time that India will be using an indigenous Cryogenic engine for the third stage, the first launch after the second stage failed to ignite. the payload for this mission is the GSAT-14 (Geosynchronous Satellite). A Live Telecast from Doordarshan and Webcast of the Launch will be available on Jan 05, 2014 from 15:52 hours (IST) onwards. Note: this launch was originally scheduled for late 2013 but was delayed after a fuel leak.

Methan, yes I first tried a direct link from Fb; didn't work, so I had to copy it to Imgur.... it's funny that they want proper solar heating while I struggle with overheating on my probes ( interstellar mod )

Weird military/government program patches

"never before, never again", that's scary, what on earth did they do ? -
Spacecraft has traversed beyond the Sphere of Influence (SOI) of Earth extending about 9,25,000 km at around 1:14 hrs (IST) on Dec 4, 2013.

The Spacecraft has traveled a distance of 5,36,000 km by 17:00 hrs (IST),Dec 2, 2013. It has crossed the distance to Moon's orbit around Earth (mean distance 3,85,000 km) on the same date. by now its well on its way to mars !
