  1. EdFred: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Level 3! Ahh, I have wrote a review and when I sent it the forum said the token has expired. Anyway, at first I said your album was slow to review (edit: later with the thumbnails it's better! ). About the mission: the main ship is well planned with good symmetry. Sending the landers parallel is rare and I guess it may need some good timing sometimes. And that made the review easier for me because it means that you have sent the different Kerbals to different moons for sure. Using nuke tugs for all the landers was a good and safe idea to move them around, and also the no-docking solution was absolutely unique. That's a perfect idea for those who hate dockings! And it might be quicker too! Landing two Kerbals on Tylo is also very rare and a big achievement. That's an odd looking Tylo lander too! That's strange that they met in low Laythe orbit because it would be easier to meet in Jool orbit somewhere between two moons (edit: you said it was because of the very low dV of the main ship after Tylo). You earned the JOOL-5 Badge too, and pairing that with an Eve Rocks Challenge badge...well, HELL YEAH! And you are the first one who have them both!
  2. Hahh, awesome! Give me some time to review. I'm happy to see you made the Eve Rocks Challenge, that's going to be an other (or THE other) hardest challenge in KSP. I'm working on my EVE+Gilly Expedition right now! I'm sure you'll earn the JOOL-5 badge too! But first let me do the inspection in your album, looking for the smallest chance of a cheating!
  3. Hi again, I had some time today so downloaded the craft file and the saves. I loaded them and I have some idea about what your mission was look like but it felt like they are not linear in time, and the first save started when the landers were already around/on the moons, the Laythe one on the surface with repacked chutes, and the game froze sometimes when I changed ships and it took so much time to always restart it that I got enough. I believe you could do the mission with these ships but I can't really see the whole process all together this way. So please put the mission pictures in one easy to handle albums (like imgur , it's free for the first ~250 pictures) if you want so I can review them.
  4. No, because checking mission pictures in-depth, writing a review and updating the leaderboard usually takes at least 30-40 minutes per entry already... Videos needs more time. And I never got save files before. Does the 0.25 have save file list or do I have to rename them to quicksave all the time as before? And this challenge is also about collecting awesome ideas in one place, so image albums are preferred. And one more thing: your album is very slow to check because the picture is huge, bigger than my screen, so I always have to scroll right for the next button, and this is very inconvenient...
  5. ATTENTION I want to emphasize some of the rules because missing them can lead to disqualification: 1. I want to see your whole mission! It starts from KSC and finishes on Kerbin's surface. - I want to see how you launched your ship(s) and built it up in Kerbin orbit (if it was made from multiple ships). - I want to see your orbits in deep space and in the Joolian System too. - I want to see the deltaVs of your tugs/landers. - I want to see your distribution of the main ship and the tugs/landers in the Joolian System. If the lander has enough dV to land from a low moon-orbit but your main ship is around Jool orbit then the lander has to have enough dV to get to that moon and back. - I want to see the dockings of your landers. Departing and arriving back, too. - I want to see your fuel consumption! Maybe you are refueling from your main ship but... does it have enough fuel for all the refuelings?! - I want to see how your Kerbals got back to Kerbin's surface and as they are smiling happily. NO PICTURE AND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! 2. Double check your ladders! I will check them and if you can't get back into your lander on Laythe or Tylo then your mission is over! 3. For Jebediah's Level, I will check especially: - did you bring all the required science equipments to everywhere? - did you use five Kerbals for the different moon landings? Were they changed for landings as requested? - did you brought back the Science Lab to Kerbin's surface (if you brought one with you)?
  6. Hahh, so simple solution for changing the experiment pallets! Cool, I'm sorry for bothering you about this!
  7. If it's still in Kerbin orbit then it can be changed, yes. But you have to go from Kerbin to Jool with one ship only and no additional stuff later during being in the Jool System.
  8. I'm sorry but I can't accept your mission then, because I need to check your launch, your moving in space, where did you left your main ship during dockings and if the landers really had enough dV to get from the main ship to the surface and back, how was your fuel consumption, how did you get back to Kerbin, etc.
  9. Can you please upload all of your pictures? From launching to Kerbin to all the maneuver nodes, getting into/out of orbit of the moons, the landers getting back to the main ship, Kerbals getting back to the main ship after landing, and that you sent five different Kerbal to the different moons, etc... because from these few pictures I can't check a lot of things! For example, how did you get your Laythe lander on Laythe? How much fuel did you use from the lander before landing? And where did you rendezvous with the main ship then? And the same questions for all the landings...!
  10. No, because I don't want clipped solutions. for example putting a nuke through a command pod + a fuel tank makes it convenient and efficient, but I consider that as cheating. Also, putting a lot of tanks into a little space with heavy overlapping can give a lot of advantage so I don't allow them. In rare cases I accept some part clipping (these last two were the rare cases ), especially when it's about aesthetics and otherwise makes the ship heavier and more complex. So what is important to me is not to use part clipping for gaining advantage.
  11. All right, I put it into the low-mass category! I wrote version 0.25, if it was different then let me know. Yeah, I was thinking about if the ion lander had some unbalance but I was thinking the low thrust is not stronger than the tiny probe core. But it seems like it counted a lot. Yeah, low mass counts too in these cases.
  12. MechJeb is okay, yes. It's in the rules that you can use any kind of informative mods too. I think on your living quarter you will never use that much of monopropellant, but it's up to you. I'm sure the Laythe Excursion and Observation ship won't have enough delta-V after you have to change from Air breathing to oxidizer. You will not need that much monopropellant, in fact you would be okay without RCS at all because the lander is small and the command pod has enough power to rotate it quickly. If you have only solar panels then you might run out of electricity during landing/ascending because they cannot be open during atmospheric flight. Oh, and your engine won't work in jet mode without Air intakes! I'm not sure about your Tylo lander, it might have enough dV. Check it with Mechjeb! You will need about 6000+ from a low orbit (10-20 km) to land and back to LTO (Low Tylo Orbit).
  13. Ravenchant: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 on Level 3! I chose Level 3 for your mission because that is maybe more complex than level 2 and you definitely made a complex mission! Your main ship layout and all of your landers and other stuff are very creative and unique, and they look amazing because of the new building ideas! This is what my initial intention was with this JOOL-5 challenge, to collect awesome ideas about how to build the ships and landers for this hard mission! I really loved that sepraton boosted Laythe ascent stage, why did you use those? Did it have a low TWR at the beginning and to make it going? And that's cool that you sent some habitat module and rovers too, that's rare in the JOOL-5 missions! And yeah, you made some bad part clipping but I'll get over it for you because of the creativity, and you could easily make those parts without part clipping, and the aesthetics made it more heavy and bigger part count anyway. It was a good idea to send the Vall lander forward to make the ship easier for the Tylo maneuvers. Creative Tylo lander fuel tank distribution too! (I just forgot to keep in mind the no part clipping rule in those moments too) Vall lander is also creative with the monopropellant only engines, and there's a cool minimalistic rover there too. Bop and Pol lander also look awesome, and I appreciate the experiment pallet. If I would like to nitpicking I'd ask picture about your pallet change on the lander! I also liked your MMU (Manned Maneuvering Unit), but maybe it could be smaller, don't you think? Funny descriptions too! So, it was an awesome and very creative mission, that's great! Thank you for participating!!
  14. davidparks21: Congratulation, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge! Which category do you want, Level-1 or the Low-Mass? Thank you for your clarification about the Tylo and Vall landings! At first I gave more percent that they are not possible than possible, so special congratulation on doing such hard solutions work! And that was some pretty nice minimalistic design, and you were patient to go with a sole ion engine at the beginning. Nice Laythe landing too, to fly the whole ship down and back. That ladder solution was fun there! The ion lander is special too because of the vertical seating of the Kerbal! Yeah, I didn't like the part clipping for the parachute but considering the quality of minimal planning and pulling such hard landings out I get over it for you. Nice job, thank you for participating!
  15. Cool, welcome to the JOOL-5 Challenge! I hope you will be a member of the JOOL-5 elite team! If you would like to use imgur.com then register there and create an album. Your album will have an url like this: http://imgur.com/a/1EWoP#0 (at the end the #number means the number of the picture in the album) You can put the album here between the tags [ imgur] 1EWoP [ /imgur] (without the spaces). That's all.
  16. Ravenchant: cool, I will review your mission soon when I have some time! When embedding imgur album use only the code of the album without the picture number and so the viewing window will be bigger! So insted of "pK2mK#0" use only "pK2mK"!
  17. Wow, what a nice minimalistic design! And pushing such a "big" ship on a sole ion engine... you are patient! But that's good that it was only until Laythe... That's funny how you solved the "ladder-problem" on both Laythe and Tylo! And very creative ways for the landings with wings and the additional module for the lander at Tylo... and the little ion lander looks fun! By the way I would be happy to see more pictures from ascending Tylo with the ion only at the end... about how you managed it! If you really had enough time before falling back to Tylo. And I would like to see more pictures about your Vall landing too... because landing and getting back on Vall with a high TWR lander takes about 1000-1000 m/s. With a very low TWR it takes much-much more, and your two informative picture about the landing (pic 1, pic 2) are not really good (on the second picture you have more dV than on the first one!) and on the second picture it seems like you want to fall down onto the surface from a high above altitude with a TWR 1.1-1.04, and you were falling with 109 m/s... and on the ground you have 1553 m/s which means it was only 1000 (or 500?) to land, which feels impossible with such a low TWR. It is not impossible to land with a TWR lower than 1.1 but it requires much more dV than the average and requires a very good descending path planning. So please tell me more about how you did it. And also I'm not really happy with the part clipping what you did with the parachute. I'm still thinking if I will get over it if you show me how you managed to circulize at Tylo with ions and how you landed on Vall with 1.08 TWR.
  18. Exile: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Level 1! I like the blue lights, it makes the craft look very sci-fi! The intakes clipping is not so bad so it's okay. Btw I think they are less effective if they don't point right to the direction of flying, it's the same as with rocket engines. That was an interesting solution that you went from Laythe to Vall landing and then to Tylo with the lander and followed with the main/fuel tank ship later. And I guess you had some hard time at Tylo because of the high lander. Or didn't you? Nice job with the EVA landing at Bop, I tried it only once but without success. Also nice Duna/Mun landings too. I guess you used the parachutes there too. Good job, thank you for participation!
  19. There are several possible solution: 1. You can right-click on the decoupler and decouple. 2. You can assign a hotkey (0-9) in the Action Groups in the VAB, click this icon to do that, select the 0-9 group, click on the part and add the function you want 3. if it's the next stage then press space bar. You can change the order of the stages on the left side by dragging them
  20. Hey! Yeah, I love DMagic's science pack too but it alters the science points which makes Jeb's level's science points incomparable. But you can use it if you don't mind the, otherwise absolutely not official, science points "race". It makes the mission more complex anyway. Have a nice journey, and good looking science packs!
  21. Gravaar: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Jebeidah's Level! Thank you for the clarification. Yeah, sorry for nitpicking but big ships can be tricky and are not always so much on dV because of the weight. Yeah, I see your fuel depo solution now and adding together all the refueling was far from drying it out so yeah, nice solution! Maybe you should allow other users to refuel from it too. And OMG, your ship was HUGE! GIANT! I don't know the right English word here. I was joking with prohibiting launch rockets bigger than the launch pad some weeks ago, hehe (but I wasn't). But 25978 tons, OMG... yeah, the true Kerbal way! And you jettisoned the first stage on 95 km!!! O.O Hmm, and I guess your tug and Tylo lander was the biggest so far. Yeah, that's for sure. Good job with the Easter egg landings and for the Pol landing with the tug, on the nuke engines! And congratulations on getting back to KSC and lithobrake with a bunch on Nuke engines!! But I don't mind this and there's no rule about it so that's not a problem. For me. But ask the support crew Kerbals at KSC! Huge...I mean good job, thank you for participating!
  22. totalitor: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Level 1! No worries about the chair orbital moves, you had a pod for the interplanetary journeys and that's enough. Hmm, it's rare that the main ship is so staged, nice optimizing there. That was a unique solution too to use a staged lander everywhere and use the stages at last for Tylo. Maybe that's not the most optimized one but it has enough TWR at first anyway to depart from the surfaces where it's important. Maybe the parachutes could be decoupled on Laythe because you brought them around to all the moons which is a 0.3 tons plus weight. Also I think your two big solar panels were unnecessary but they are good for visual. Landing on Pol by EVA was nice and it helped you to be sure to get back to the mothership for sure. Nice job, thank you for participating!
  23. Hi Exile/Matt, my questions: the lander went from Laythe ascent to Vall landing and then Tylo low orbit to meet the main ship? How much dV did your ship have?
