[0.25] Realism Overhaul w/ RedAV8R [Terminated]

Jonnyt21: DETAILS...WHAT is wrong??? "It doesn't work" doesn't help me a bit. -

@TeeGee: What is ROS??? Actually an old version of FASA should allow things to work. 4.92 I think was the last the realism pack was updated for. @Jonnyt21: And exactly what do you want me to fix??? Read the OP, specifically the troubleshooting part. Read, understand, follow directions. THEN speak. -

I'm sure there are multiple things wrong, you just haven't found it yet...As I mentioned 3 posts back, and again a couple posts before that, I haven't gotten that far with updates. In due time. There is also a mention of this on the OP. -

MechJeb has this neat little calculation called "SLT". You can find it by clicking ALL STATS on the DeltaV page. Build your rockets using this. @Woopert: My previous answer applies. I can't guarantee any compatibility at this time with anything on the "Coming Soon" list. This includes everything up to KSP itself crashing. -

I won't look then:) Getting some progress done on ensuring things are updated for the new stuff. I'll soon be starting on the RedAV8R folder finally (that includes LazTek). Why would you??? FASA Apollo, yep, good chance of it. At this time ONLY configs in the MAIN RO folder are guaranteed to work. I simply haven't gotten to things in the RedAV8R folder or the REWORK folder. As for GitHub...sure it has the latest, and when it comes to RO things since they are all individual MM patches, not such a big deal. Otherwise follow directions, if my OP page says v7.1 AND the RSS page OP has the official release says v7.1, then I'd use the official release. -

YEP. This wouldn't be an issue if you read the OP and followed the directions. That issue was resolved in the ALPHA 9 release. -

@mecki: Yep, RT2 for the time being is as they should be. We've got some plans for the future, but that's on the back burner for right now. @Ophiuchus: GREAT, keep it coming! One thing to keep in mind the larger the actual picture, the more accurate the thrust curve will be, so even if you have to link a file or page that it's on, if the original is larger that will benefit everybody. -

@ninjaweasel: and @Ophiuchus: and @EVERYONE!: Alright everybody, I have a working method which produces awesome results (as long as other specifications like max thrust and what not are correct) SO all I need are pictures of thrust curves, time based is the usual, I can work around something else just as easy. PLEASE everybody link images of thrust curves for me, sometimes THAT's the hard work is just the research for that, here I will rely on everybody as my team! Seriously guys, stop trying to come up with them. I have a program now that automatically gathers data points from a curve with minimal effort (no guessing now), and then exports that data to an excel sheet which calculates fuel burn and creates the fuel remaining vs. thrust curve. The results as I said (as long as other key info is right) makes a curve that is data generated with no guesswork, and testing and matches the curve every second of flight. Don't believe me get the UA1205 curve and you can literally follow your flight and watch your thrust vs time perfectly match that on paper. It's giggle fantastic. -

Alright folks...in the source, grab the latest KW Solids and FASA SRBs/1207 files...Test out the KW UA1207 and the FASA UA1205/UA1207s, let me know what you think! Yep those curves are long, and account for every second of flight. I'll make it easy...download THIS, save to main RO folder, then THIS, and THIS and replace in the RedAV8R/FASA folder. -

1. Yes it was removed from that individual and will be added to another. 2. Yes the gimbal range was lowered because of force, clustered engines like that don't properly distribute that force as if it were 5 individual engines...now that was before...that theory needs tested again, now that engine logic changed a bit. 3. Shouldn't have been. Haven't gone through FASA or OLDD yet. -

RedAV8R replied to RedAV8R's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've noticed that a few things don't play nice with a database reload, there is no guarantees. When I test I have EVERYTHING removed except absolute requirements, keeps load time to a minimum. @ThorBeorn: That's the problem...burn time is associated with thrust curve...so nothing is accurate until everything is accurate. I REALLY don't like PP SRBs, and honestly...mass, maxthrust, and isp is all there...and accurate, now it's up to a good curve to make it all work right. -
[0.25] Realism Overhaul w/ RedAV8R [Terminated]
RedAV8R replied to RedAV8R's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
ThorBeorn, they are going to be based on real life data...the curves for a lot of SRBs in the pack have a generic curve, that isn't that friendly...i really need to sit down and get the conversion going from time/thrust to fuel/thrust. Correct, HoneyFox's plugin no longer required, RealFuels now has the capability. -

@ninjaweasel: The curve in the config has to be Fuel Remaining vs. Thrust... -

Could very well be an issue since the last update dtobi did, reorganized things...and things are resized...so the reorganization broke the path for the models being sized...yep...that's it...Rambling I know, putting thought to keyboard. As soon as I'm done with AIES (hopefully this afternoon) I'll start in on updating the RS-25s of dtobi's. Once again I will point out, and I will update the OP too. If you have Realism Overhaul installed...and some part mod is broken. COME HERE FIRST!!! Realism Overhaul modifies parts, therefore if you have problems with a part mod, and Realism Overhaul covers it and touches it, it's RO's responsibility. Not whoever made the part originally. If you are unsure... then do this. 1. Fresh install of KSP 2. Install part mod you are having problem with (and any dependencies if required). That's it. No RO. No RO dependencies (unless needed by the original part mod). 3. Launch KSP. If it works. Then something else is buggering it up, it's not the original developers problem. -

Nope, not sure what comment of mine would have led to that conclusion, but be assured when it is fixed, it will be shouted from the mountain tops. -

RedAV8R replied to RedAV8R's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Had you read but one page back from your post you will see SRBs of all sorts are having problems due to the thrust curve. We know about, we know how to fix it, but doing so in a realistic fashion is going to take some time. The implementation of thrust curve is based on fuel remaining, MOST thrust curves I've ever seen published are time based...So one has to convert a time based curve into a fuel remaining based curve. Lots of math involved. -
I personally had issues with PartCatalog with multiple mods (I'm guessing with 1.6.* of KSPAPIExtentions...now with the latest 1.7.* update PartCatalog is working just fine.

Why yes...strange things indeed...Ok, new plan. RO will now convert standard configs to a no auto shroud configuration, since we have PFairings and other shrouds included with KW anyway. Sound like a plan! And what do you know...Using configs as shipped (not extras) everything works great, and removes shrouds. Seems that except for one engine not having it's Jettison module removed, not a single engine required a change:) I did update the OP however to explicitly state NOT to use the "no shroud" or "instant thrust" configs in the extra folder. -

That's what I thought, but needed to get this release out before I investigated it further. Now I don't have to:) Onto more AIES work. -

ALL: Going to release a new update for RO, this is a compatibility fix for the new RealChutes that was released. Before RealChutes had a *.zip archive that we told users NOT to extract...now those MM files are included already unzipped. I have updated RO to allow users simply extract and go, rather than hunting files and deleting them. I HIGHLY recommend for this last release to DELETE both the Realism Overhaul folder AND the RealChutes folder, and re-install both. IT'S UP Realism Overhaul v6.0 ALPHA 9 v6.0 ALPHA 9 \/ *EngineIgnitor Fixes *Some more work on KW SRBs, ADDED GEM40, Isp fixes *Typographical Error Fixes *LazTek parachute fix *RLA PowerGeneration, ElectricEngines, Stockalike now fully supported! *Updated TweakScale stuff with latest release *Updated KW Fuel Tanks for RealFuels update *Updated RealChutes to work wih MM files now included. *Start AIES rework (very much a WIP) *Minor KW Engine fixes -

Procedural Parts has been fixed, might want to double check what version you have. -

This is an issue with the thrust curves, they need to be updated, we are working on it. Solution. Time. Wait. -

WELL...you kinda sorta followed directions. I'm happy to report THIS IS NOT AN RO BUG. Have you ensured each and every requirement is up to date...mainly RealChutes...your log is spammed with NRE's associated with RealChutes, I believe the latest version fixes this issues. Latest RealChutes is v1.2.4. -

True and false. Yes sizes have likely been changed for most engines, HOWEVER, using their latest release, all engines with KW have been integrated.
