In future episodes I am going to use Permadeath and purposely kill Jeb, for no reason at all other than to see him off my list.
-
I believe I am guilty of this as well, although I do not count it as a sin. Brutally honest maybe, but not a sin by any means.
-
are you with Mechjeb or Kerbal engineer
Liowen replied to robopilot99's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Neither as both have the same level of lazy intertwined in them. KER you just don't want to test things, and Mechjeb you just do not want fly the craft for whatever reason. Neither is better than the other and neither is worse than the other, it is a matter of prospective to what you favor. And yes I used Mechjeb for a bit, but more to help me learn how to dock. My feelings even then ere the same as now, at the time I did not have the time to invest to learn to dock. Since then I took the time using trail and error to learn much like building a craft to fly. I am sure I have angered some with this statement though. -
Hmmm I see more KER cluttering more screen shots, yet that mod gets no hate? Just a thought is all.

Taking a break from KSP actually makes you more experienced?
Liowen replied to Clockwork13's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Very well said. Also stepping away sometimes helps with perspective, you could just be overwhelmed at the time. After a short brake I found myself able to do much more as I did not have my past failures fresh in my mind, and as such I had less for me to think about. -
Ask and you shall receive! http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/25367-0-23-5-Chatterer-v-0-5-9-3 Link under the small ui picture worked for me and should work for you s well, just make sure you have toolbar installed also.

Chatterer No seriously best mod ever!
-
Today I installed a new mod that offers absolutely nothing to the game, yet made me laugh hard when I loaded it. I just downloaded Chatterer and was not expecting it to be as funny as it was. It was a good day, even though I did not do anything in game to be honest.

To the first question I am not sure if it is better or not as I have not used that function before to be honest. As for the second question I have only used MJ to help me with docking, until recently that is. I have finally gotten better at it to where I can do it on my, although most likely not as efficiently as some at least I can now do that. Other than that I have not used it for anything else, not even the TWR or DV calculations (which I have been told I cannot do interplanetary missions without them....yet I have done them without those numbers successfully).
-
Protractor is what I use for this it helps get the angle you need, but still leaves it planning in your hands. To me this is more realistic and I do not need to access an outside website to do them.

For me I have mods I try to keep the mods to a minimum not so much that my system cannot handle them, but rather I have never been fond of moding games until there is no in game option. Here is my current list of mods I am using: KData I use this mainly so I do not need to look to map mode to see my periapsis and apoapsis, and to a lesser degree what biome I am currently over. Science Alert I mainly got this one to aid in getting me out of warp to collect science, it is nice to not have to hunt on my crafts for the right experiments. City and lights (the name eludes me currently) Hey nothing wrong with having nice things to look at in the game, at least until SQUAD puts them in game on their own. Mechjeb While I had this installed to help me with docking I have since learned to do that on my own so this will become less needed now. Unlike many I do not use the other functions of it to make my ships, yet I have gone to other planets and returned. Docking Port Alignment Indicator I finally was able to figure out docking with. THANK YOU NAVYFISH! Toolbar This one is used to hold a few of the above mods, and keeps a nice neat UI (Something I like). Protractor I have this to help me setup for my interplanetary missions, though if I used Kerbal Alarm Clock I may not need this after that point. *Mods I am considering* Chatterer I think this would be kind of funny to have voices in my head....well other than those already there of course. Better Than Manned While this is many mods I am considering playing this in .24 to give myself a better challenge, although I may not use a few of the mods in it as I do not like them. Kerbal Alarm CLock I have it downloaded but have yet to put it into play, and honestly I do not know why. *Mods I will not use for the foreseeable future* KER I can make ships that do the missions I want successfully so far without it, and until this changes I will not install it. Mechjeb Yes I know I currently have this one installed, however it has been broken since .23.5, it will most likely be removed from my mod folder soon. Kethane Sorry this one currently does not seem appealing to me, but I do like watching others use it. Advanced Robotics (I think) Too many things needed to be launch to do missions. I like to roleplay a bit, but this is too much even for me. I am sure there are others I might like and others I might not, but this is my current thoughts on the ones I see. I know that my views on KER are far from popular, but I do well without it. Even if my ship hasn't got the fuel it just means I have to do a rescue mission. "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. It was all part of a plan... that i just made up
Liowen replied to InterCity's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You mean like tipping over on majority of your early Mun landings, yet still able to get home safe and sound. I love those "happy accidents", although I call them successes. -
Here is part 18, or as I have come to call it "Adventures in failing!!". And part 19, or "The last episode was a simulation". Also proof that I can dock now with out mechjeb LOL.
-
I believe that in the what did you do today thread someone docked one of each together around Kerbin. I remember seeing, but not 100% if that is the thread for sure though. I would love to see some dock one of each size around Kerbin, and then take all of the to Jool, Dres, or Eeloo.

"Not a Number" basically the node divided by 0, you are doomed I say......DOOOOOOOOOMEDâ„¢!!!!!!!!!

Today I resent a mission to Duna. After areo capturing at 12.5km, no KER or website used to make get this figure, I got into an orbit that needed only minor tweaking to circularize. I then deployed my lander from the maned tug in order to set up for a landing. Once near the surface I deployed the chutes and slowed down to 6.5m/s. Upon landing I decided to I need to test out my science deletion system (IE decouplers and smal SBR's to get them away from the craft.). Before: After: After seeing that the system worked it was time to go back and dock with the tug and plan for the return trip. I finally docked to the lander without mechjeb, so all in all I would say today was a good day overall. I did not get pictures of the docking sorry.

Should KSP have a Delta-V readout?
Liowen replied to bsalis's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Hmm I do not use spread sheets or mechjeb to tell me if a craft is going to work, and oddly I have fun doing this.....I must be doing something wrong LOL. Honestly I do not care either way to be completely honest, just put it in and off by default. This way you choose to use it or not. -
You could just lock the breaks before setting it free, that should eliminate the issue without the need for a probe core on it. Although having one will make life easier for when you for get to set the breaks on a hill
-
I have started doing this as well (Noted in my last video LOL). I terminate all failed missions (on my test save), or missions I do not intend on completing even if it has the fuel to come and a full crew. I have plans to send 30+ Kerbals into the sun. Not sure if this counts as a current sin, but I have wanted to do this for sometime now. Coming soonâ„¢ I refuse to use Kerbal Engineer or Mechjeb for dV numbers, although I do have Mechjeb I have not used that function of it to date. I sent a Kerbal to his death by trying to land on Jool. I think that is enough for now LOL

Scared During Aerocapture
Liowen replied to Duxwing's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Fear is the path of the dark side. Fear leads to anger.....anger leads to hate....hate leads to suffering....... Gotta love Yoda, who I believe is also a Kerbal. -
I loaded up my secondary career mode save and seen I had Jeb in orbit around Mun, so I decided to land him and get him home. I was also testing out science alarm, and after much fussing I finally got it to work. Here is a shot of the ship Jeb landed in the Far Side Carter of Mun. But not to be out done Bobfurt decided to go to Dres, and I learned a lesson while doing this as well. You do not need a low periapsis when encountering Dres, also when doing this mission it might be wise to load the tug with a crew before launch
-
I also had Billy-Bobfen Kerman and Bobcat Kerman, although Bobcat seemingly is missing on the save that originally had him. This is where James T. Kerman comes in as he is on a mission to Duna to look for clues to his whereabouts. I should work on that series again, since I stopped it before .23 was released hehe.

Should KSP have a Delta-V readout?
Liowen replied to bsalis's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Or using the right area gives a green box if you have enough to do said burn and red if you will likely run out. Personally I build for the fun of it, and I know if I had the numbers to see how bad my designs were I would never launch anything. I can admit some of my things are way over engineered for what they need to do, however I do this in the event of anything going wrong. Heck I am sure NASA puts a little extra in the tank.....bonus if you get the movie reference LOL. -
James T. Kerman.....well it was James Kerman but with a bit of fiddling I go him to be a Captain! Bobfurt Kerman is my other favorite one, he tests all my new, and sometimes dangerous, ideas.
