  1. You could hit M and scroll out with time warp on and see, but I think each one rotates the same way just at different speeds (and plains as well).
  2. Ok I was going to do one more attempt, but I think I have been bested by Smidge204. I am not sad though I did more with this mission than I thought I could and that made me happy. Congrats Smidge204! My only question would be whats next?
  3. It depends on what you want to do with it honestly. If you want it underneath you will have it when you land, however it will require a bit more fuel (I am guessing) than your traditional lander. With it being on the ground beforehand you will need to land close to where it is in order to save yourself a long drive to get use out of it. Right now I am doing the second, more so it gives me a target on the ground to try and aim for while landing on Duna, but I can also see why you would do a rover attached to the craft as well. While not a true sky-crane, I think, here is mine and the craft file is in the thread about rovers. This is the older design, but the drop ship is still the same.
  4. I know this might be a pipe dream, but I would like to see another solar system . Could you just imagine the mission planning to go between systems? Not only that but think off all the cool things that could be found there, bases setup, and new snacks to find!
  5. While I do my videos more so for my own enjoyment, I welcome others to watch them as well. I do monetize the video, but that money goes to Humblebundle sales, when I actually get money of course. I do different types of videos though, right along side my KSP stuff I am doing a Lets Play of The Walking Dead game from Telltale games without commentary, it is a fully story driven game and does well to fill in the void during the midseason break. So if you like complete randomness come by for look. Also I need a banner and stuff, had this channel since 2006 and never did anything with it until just recently https://www.youtube.com/user/Liowen
  6. Those are beautiful! That would be a mod I would consider downloading in the near future, of course once it finalized of course.
  7. My Duna Lander craft, helped indesign by 700NitroXpress from the forums, has 12 radials and 4 drogue chutes, and it weighs nearly 28t. So for yours you have enough radials I would add on those drogue chutes, 4 will be more than enough, and you should be good on radials to get you safely down at a reasonable speed. You might not even need the engines either. Here is my lander after all chutes have been used...thought I had one of the speeds though. I will look and edit as needed.
  8. While I am far from the greatest Youtuber I thought I would share my videos here as well. In this first installment is my Mun landing, the second explanation in the video. The first video had some audio issues, and as such please make a note at the 2 minute mark of the warning to turn down the sound. If you like what you see hit that thumbs up button, and subscribe for more KSP hijinks! Now on with our show!! ...also a side note my voice during the time of these recordings was bad so I may sound raspy. Part one (audio has issues be mindfull of the warning on the video!!) Part two Part three
  9. I believe you have to control from the docking port of the ship that you are trying to dock. So, provided I am correct, the nav ball is right as you are controlling from the command module and not the docking port.
  10. It could be doing the lesser of two evils though, in that it could place the strut there but not doing in case the player does not want it there. I have just become accustom to double checking everything after attaching, and saving during each stage of the build. Basically I wouldn't write a 10 page paper for a class and not save until the very end, I would save it as often as possible since I do not know all the outcomes. As for the subassemblies I normally build them without struts or fuel lines as I may use them on other crafts that might need them in different orders, but I can also see where this could be a problem for those big builds. However one work around may be to make a probe of the said item and save it as such, and the main payload (minus the command pod) as the sub, by doing this you could then mount them together and just build to command area.
  11. One think I would like to see is action groups viewable after launch. I know there are mods, but I like running as few mods as possible currently. I do that mostly to see what I can do with the stock setup. Now I realize this may be changed later on so I am not complaining too much about it honestly.
  12. I have tried to keep my as basic as it could be, yet able to made complex by the user as seen fit. While looking at some others I fear mine might not qualify as a true sky crane, it would be a good learner I feel and could be modeled later into a full sky crane version with small changes. All of them though are good though, and I may snag a few to try myself at some point......and then watch them crash into the ground due to my terrible flying skills LOL.
  13. Since the game is still in development it would stand to reason that there will be bugs found, and those bugs take time to fix (even big publishers take long periods to fix things sometimes years after release has happened). Best advice I would give is to see if you can repeat the problem more than once, on the same craft, and submit it in a bug report with either pictures or a video showing what is happening. As far as what I have experienced bug wise has been documented in the bug reporting section, but anything I think is a bug I always try to replicate it so I know it is the game causing it and not me. It is easy to blame the game, but harder for a person to blame themselves.
  14. Sounds like you are not deploying your chutes early enough, or maybe you need a few more chutes. I know when I landed my rover on Eve I had a bit too many chutes, well honestly you can never have too many, and ended up slowing down to nearly 4m/s when they fully deployed. I used drogue chute just after reentry effects ended to slow down to 100m/s, and then use the square radials to slow down even more before the drogues opened fully. Since I am not a fan of powered landing, except on moons, I do it this way so I have as much fuel as possible to escape....though I have yet to get to Eve and back as I have not tried yet.
  15. One thing I have done is if you are not good at guessing angles, then download the mod protractor. This will give you an angle or time till the best window for launch. I put one on a satellite and got it in a high enough orbit so that I could fully time warp to the next window without having to warp on the launch pad, bad things always happen when I am on the pad time warping it seems.
  16. Yeah he didn't like my first attempts either, I had clamps going through the booster tanks during the loading of the ship. I think it took 5 reverts just to clear that up and a few more after that to correct "pilot" error.
  17. I am a bit worried about starting my next mission right now, I have finals next week and will only be doing limited playing. I would hate to be in the middle of interstellar space and in the update something has moved. On the other hand this will be my first Kerbalkon I get to see as I only recently found out about the game, and I am excited to hear what is coming up next.
  18. After nearly 642 days away from Kerbin, Jeb has finally come home. He was glad to be home as his snacks were running low.
  19. After nearly 641 days Jeb is finally home. I finally got the never up to bring him back from Duna and it was a success....sort of. While I made it home just fine, I did not get to leave my Tug in orbit like I wanted to inorder to reuse it again for another mission (not that on my test save this is a big deal). Jeb is finally able to see grass again!
  20. I make a action group for my chutes, then it is only a matter of remembering to press that button and not space to activate them.
  21. I like the aspect of building things to fly into space, and the exploring aspect as well. It is so fun to come up with crazy ideas and then try to get them to work, but most end up blowing up....and that is fun too!
  22. Well I just got done testing out my "lunar tour bus" on a trip to Minmus, all went well...except for the landing on Kerbin. I seemingly break one of the "economy" class seats off once on Kerbin, but what do you expect for a cheap seat on the bus?? I think 34 Kerbals counts for a bus on a single mission. And random passenger on the bus a bit worried about coming home.
  23. Hmmm not sure if my Lighthouse would count as a bus, but it has bn to Mun and back with 26 Kerbal. The newer version will carry 34 to Minmus, provided I get the kinks worked out of it before Saturday. Here is the original Lighthouse on the launch pad.
  24. I actually landed in this same spot I think....with 26 Kerbals! As seen here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/60257-Most-kerbals-to-the-Mun-and-back/page3 Did you get them all home safe, or still working on the rescue mission??
