  1. I have rover envy right now, my second one is soooooo small in comparison.
  2. I am not sure by the pictures but you might want to throw a few chutes onto that one to aid in slowing you down. I would use the orange topped ones and the square one (sorry the names elude me right now). I would 2 of the orange and at least 8 of those square ones, but more is always handy. On that rover I landed on Duna today had 10 of the square ones and 4 orange tops, and that got down low enough to only need a few flashes of the engines at the end.
  3. And did you try to move it out of your way?? LOL Either your PC is insanely built or take off was at 1 FPS

    Hello

Welcome aboard! I know on Steam right now it is 33% off, or $18.08 USD. Now would be a great time to pick it up and see all the extra bits that are missing from the demo. The only part that I am sad with is that I waited so long to get the game
  5. Today I made my first rover called Roller. It is far from perfect right now as it was kind of tipsy on Kerbin, was even more so on Duna. However the deployment drone worked greater than expected, with all chutes open on Duna I was down to 6.3m/s on landing. Combined with a bit of thrust I was down to 3 m/s, not bad for just guessing what I needed to land. Also my approach to Duna was not Ideal as I came in at the poles I put a seat on there so I could give the Kerbals somewhere to sit if they wanted to go for a drive, however it moves near 30m/s downhills and is hard to slow down.
  6. I just looked at my Steam play time, more out of curiosity, and noticed I am at 102 hours and I have been to Mun, Minmus, and now Duna. Yet the thing is I do not feel like I have played that many hours to be honest, and that is how it should be. If you are enjoying a game it should not feel like you need to make it to a certain goal in a certain amount of arbitrary time limit not set by the game that, but more importantly if you have fun if you either succeed or fail. While I have been to those three bodies it has been with only one crew member on the mission, so I still have yet to do space stations, moon bases, or multiple crew missions yet. I think some players put unrealistic goals to "succeed" in most games and miss the main point of the game is to have fun playing, not just race to the finish. Part of the blame is in the achievement system that has come about as of late, you know the ones "you pushed this button 9000 time you get +10 points", I don't need those in the game as if I beat something, no matter how long it took, I feel I have done something right in doing that.
  7. Yeah I am thinking of doing that and have a couple of docking ports and "escape pods" for returning Kerbals to take back to the surface. The pods I will launch up after each mission with new crew so I do not have to do those on the videos.....but that is for a later thing I may just crash the tug into Kerbin for now until I make the refueling station, I may put that into a geostationary orbit, or not as I have not decided or designed that yet. I did have to break down and use MechJeb for docking for the time being as I do not feel that confident with my skills yet.
  8. To me it looks like a mod of some type, but I could be wrong.
  9. Oh I am happy, considering most of the other tries at this has ended up crashing into the surface at a rate of speed. Actually everyone has been very nice on here in helping other users from what I have seen, to also just being positive to what the newer players have done. Silly slopped hill nearly tipped this thing over, but I turned off SAS as soon as it hit the ground and held D with all the might my finger could muster....that sounded a lot dirtier than I intended it too
  10. Ah I did not notice the stars before >< old and late nights are bad.
  11. This just in from KNN news stations Jebediah has reached Duna and successfully landed. He was saddened to however that the planet had no Starbucks anywhere, he had thought they were everywhere. He has also taken a sample of the ground to conduct an unscientific test to see if it is actually made of cake.
  12. Today I got to Duna, and decided to go for a landing even though I was tired. My landing sites have been terrible choices, in fact Minmus is my only flat ground landing. Pictures below! I know many have done this many times over, but for me this is my first and I have only been playing limited amount for a month.
  13. Well I finally made it to Duna tonight after being gone for awhile today, one thing I noticed is that I have to remember to turn off fuel pass through thing if I log out. Tomorrow I will go for a dock and home return trip. Thanks again 700NitroXpress!
  14. Yeah I caught that, does theotherchute stay on or does it explode when the lower one goes off? I also thought I liked a lot of chutes of ships, but I think you have me beat on that one LOL.
  15. Well my current setup has the lander docked on top of tug on the launch pad, after my Kraken attack last night I decided I would try and dock it nose to nose with the tug. My main issue with docking is trying to find a camera angle that is good, but having a X,Y,Z to worry about it is a bit harder to do than say backing up a trailer. I did learn to set focus on the port and control from the port of the vessel you are driving, but even then I am seeming off either too high or off to one of the side while the pink node says I am on target. I was trying to recall if Apollo used a autopilot for the docking of the lander to the Lm and the command module, if so then my reasoning is justified and dilemma averted. I will learn to dock it on my own it will just take time is all. You did help me as I didn't know Apollo used remotes like that to be honest.
  16. I have been practicing docking for awhile now with some success with training ships, but a lot of failures with bigger ones. While I do have Mechjeb downloaded I only used it to learn how to setup for planet changes (now I just protractor you help line up the planets and do the nodes by hand). After smashing my lander into the tug too many times to count I decided to put Mechjeb on both and see if maybe there was an error, and there was.... me. This brings up my dilemma; while I dislike using a mod to do things for me I feel this is not as big of a deal as setting up and flying to a moon or planet and letting it land for you. I would still be doing a majority of the work myself and using this to assist myself to dock the ship. But I also wanted others feedback on this as well.
  17. Seen this tip when I was making my small lifter craft, best thing since apple pie! One I learned this morning -Do not leave KSP running with a craft in flight while you sleep, or the Kraken will break your ship. I woke up this morning to see my lander hand had an unhappy accident.
  18. I am always redesigning my ships, even those that successful. I think it is more of correcting the oversights or thing you left out that might have been needed, such as lights that I keep forgetting to put on my ships. I think of sandbox games like cooking, while it is good when it is done, there always something missing that could make it just that much better.
  19. Currently Jeb is sitting in a lander can 13,319,068,000m in an orbit around Kerbol on his way to Duna, of course this is on my test save on the main one he is sitting on Kerbin eating snacks.
  20. Oh ok well then I do not feel as bad now that it went Kaboom on me then. I did however have to use mechjeb for docking as I do not feel overly confident in my docking skills at this time. I figure as long as I am only using it to dock that is not too bad. I am launching a small satellite to advance time for my launch window as well, I know it is fine to just burn and go but I having an issue getting an encounter now since I relaunched.
  21. It blew up....it....I dunno LOL it blew up while in deep space. I guess I get to start that all over now, I forgot to revert and instead went to the space center.
  22. Well I am doing another bad thing, I am letting KSP run while I sleep. I do hope it is in real time as I will not have to worry about the ship this way.
  23. Well since it is 2:30 am In Michigan and I am still up I took my Duna Lander and tug into orbit, but my impatiences got the better of me and below you will see the orbit I have and the bad choice I made at the end of it. I am off to bed after posting this I need it. I nearly made a run to Drees I am going to leave it running while I sleep without time acceleration going so I can finish after some rest. Even though this is a test and does not count to my official landing by in my eyes.
  24. Well me being even more impatient I did a maneuver to go for Duna at 300-ish degrees behind Kerbin and burned the center tank out of fuel.... oh did I mention it is 2 am here and I am playing KSP? LOL It was a 16 minute burn and I need a 38 second correction as I under shot it by a bit. Dang my impatiences anyway. Edit: Here is my path I took, I think I took the long way around LOL
