[1.3] kOS Scriptable Autopilot System v1.1.3.0
Pecan replied to erendrake's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The KOS thread is probably the best place for advice on using KOS. -
There's a manual now?
-
Mega-necro! Still, I suppose nearly everyone here has joined since this thread first died - including me ^^ (Dec 2013).

Squad have, and do, generally encourage modding, fanworks, etc. as long as it is non-commercial. They were, for instance, entirely content about Exploring The System, that I published here and as a freely-downloadable PDF. As soon as I said the next one would be published on Amazon and would have a fee (because that's the only way I could think of to make a Kindle version) they forbade use not only of their images and models from the game but also any screenshots, etc. that I might take from the game of my own constructions. They even went so far as to refuse permission to use their or the game's name - to the extent that it was impossible to just say "Kerbal Space Program is the property of Squad" in the accreditations. Sooo - if whatever you're doing won't cost anyone anything then it's worth asking them, otherwise probably not. (Which doesn't stop some modders, etc. from asking for donations, so Squad seem to be ok with that too).

How to select a nearby craft as target?
Pecan replied to Markarian421's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Interesting, it shouldn't happen ... If you can see the target highlighted in the flight view you should be able to (right-)click on it directly there, without going to the map view. If there is no highlight within range that's toggled with F4. ETA: Within range you can cycle between targets with the square brackets '[' and ']' -
Is SINGLE STAGE TO ORBIT (SSTO) your definition or do you require further that it is a spaceplane that can horizontally-land on a.runway? If not the latter - pop parachutes once you get slow enough.

I used to spend a lot of time in Second Life (online virtual world) and we were always getting bombarded by students that couldn't be bothered to do any work so they thought they'd write a dissertation around their prejudiced and useless - because the answers were usually right there anyway, if they looked - 'surveys'. "Survey 1" puts me off straight away. Stupid questions and options put me off all over again. No, I'm not going to play this one.

Surely any half-decent editing software lets you speed-up the video channel separately from the audio. Split the two channels then just cut the audio channel to fit your accelerated video - or replace it completely.

A really nutty contract
Pecan replied to Loren Pechtel's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
As there's no question here, I just assume from the title that I'm the most appropriate to do the contract. -
Returning KSP player, how should I get started?
Pecan replied to Rolanvorxariat's topic in KSP1 Discussion
And contracts, and strategies, and reputation. First though - which was the most recent version you have played before and what did you achieve/enjpy in that? -
African or European?

Can into Space! From today http://store.steampowered.com/app/441050/ Serious competition to KSP, or not?

That all seems too easy to forget. There are separate keys for translation and rotation after all. I've always been happy to leave RCS switched off except when docking, which is also the only time I'll need the translation keys. RCS off. Rotation keys. WASDQE. RCS on. Translation keys. IJKLHN Repeat. The main point is, though, that monopropellant is only really useful for RCS and RCS is really only useful for docking anyway.

Capturing Asteroids at Dres
Pecan replied to Wcmille's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Leave out the bar and recreation rooms; all the fun you need can be had at the Dres holiday resort ^^. -
How "custom" are they? Stock: no, you can't see them. I manage that by standardising my action groups as much as possible. Raster Prop Monitor (RPM) mod: no, you still can't see them but a neat trick is to list them in the ship description when you 'save' it in the VAB. This description is displayed when the MFDs are 'idle'. Action Groups Extended (AGX) mod: yes, you can see all 250 action groups any time you like and change them in flight if you want to. These mods are rather excellent, why not try them both? :-) AGX is obviously more applicable to your specific enquiry but RPM is always worth a look anyway.

Boiloff? Or: where did my fuel go???
Pecan replied to lugge's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
By default rocket engines take fuel from the furthest available tank first so yours should take all the probe fuel before any of the transfer stage; complex engine use aside as noted by cantab. -
RPM was my first thought when you mentioned "having to switch to external view to check the train". Two things with RPM would help - first and most simply, the hull camera so you could have in-cab CCTV back along the length of your vehicle. Another mod, which is almost a must for me, is Vessel Viewer. With that integrated with RPM you'll get a dynamic schematic view of the whole vehicle.

There are strategies? Oh ... one of those career things. Let's put this in perspective - I don't even use the tech tree.

Woke up after a few hours sleep last night with plans for a Duna demo ship. Wasn't going to get back to sleep before I tried it. Gripping hand; I've just been given a bicycle so I can get to work quicker anyway... That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. (Normally I go to bed earlier when I don't have work the next day, because there'll be more time for KSP then anyway).

Probably best if you ask in the BD Armory mod thread. Where the people who use it and, probably, wrote it hang out ;-0
-
Or, for everyone that's paying attention, there's another option: release AND keep 1.0.5 open ... which is what they did. MOST people, if they are paying attention, have EVERY version since they first bought the thing. It's easy. A LOT easier and more effective than howling at the moon. EVERYONE has both releases available so what, really, is your problem?.

==> Almost solely, deliberately, awkward question so ignore but I couldn't help myself: So where's the "3. Do you have multiple-versions installed or saved so none of this is relevant?" question? ETA for below: me too
