I used this mod to create a large Jool Bound ship. I followed the rules I believe, but have discovered that if I right click on my welded parts. It breaks the right click menu until I switch to a distant vessel that requires a load. I have a bunch of fuel tanks welded together to make just one big one, All docking ports, engines, radiators ect ect are not welded to it. If I right click to check fuel level, nothing comes up. And from then on I cant right click on any other part of the ship. Has anyone else run into this? -
Holy crap this is sweet. Building a jool science mission...my first. And had a launch of 5 science probes to RV with my mothership. A large and ungangly ship.I have crashed several times. I hit best guess. Launch and off she went. Nurve racking in a career save watching your ship hit orbital velocity at 40k and burn for that long. Had so much fuel left I was frantically trying to find a claw in orbit that I could use to transfer the fuel to some thing else. Couldn't, so I crashed the lifter into the moon..you know, for science!

CPU Performance Database
scribbleheli replied to DMagic's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well not a comparable test, But I finished my new build, loaded up KSP and the test rocket. And saw double the performance. Since the unload distances are all super huge, I just visually watched my FPS as the rocket launched. With the Core i7 920 I got about 8-9 FPS at launch. With the 6700k it was 18-19 ish until things unloaded then just climbed to my 180FPS limit very rapidly. So that's pretty sweet. -

Its a big rocket. All Im looking for the difference between my i7 920 and the 6700k. so should suit my needs. What was the windows 10 friendly FPS logger? Fraps? -
CPU Performance Database

I just purchased the Core I7 6700k. Eagerly awaiting its arrival. It will find a home in an Asus Ranger VIII Mobo with 16gb of 2133 ddr4 ram. SOO EFFING EXCITED Coming from a core I7 920 oc'd to 3.3. Has anyone tried to run this benchmark test in 1.0.5 yet? -
So close..... My folks said that if I got an all A's in this semesters classes, they would buy me the Core i7 6700k. They didn't say that until two weeks before finals. Couldn't make it happen... :'( I countered with, "Since GPA wise, a B is 3/4 an A. Would that get me 3/4 of a CPU." They changed the subject.

I have been trying to find a GTX 980 and Core i7 6700k for under 400$ each to finish my new build. Trying to get KSP 1.1 and Oculus Rift ready. I will likely give everything I don't use from my Current PC to my friend so we can play Arma 3. Which is an i7 920, Asus Rampage II extreme Mobo, and some G.skill 8Gb ram. Unless someone here would like to make me an offer for it? I have a ATI 5770? sitting at home in a box that I wouldnt bother trying to sell. It just occrued to me that I can put it in my GPU-less work computer so I can actually watch Youtube at 1080p

With all these new PC builds and KSP builds. We should reinvigorate the CPU benchmark thread.

Efficiency smhficiency I got 1200W!! MOARR POWA also, it was on sale I don't remember for how much, but with rebates, discounts, free shipping. It was only like in the 60$ range.

I guess that question was more geared towards the modding community. Would it even be possible for an enthusiast modder to create something capable like that. I saw someones nuke mod on reddit. And thought it was awesome, i just yurned for prettier. And that kerbal terrain system looks like its on the right track! I know the Unity engine is still only one ship per thread, but i the engine will support multiple thread per game. Two separate ships will be handled by two separate threads until docked.

I was thinking about the extra power and memory coming to KSP 1.1 and asteroids and things of great energy. Will the change all for mods to be created so that if a large asteroid or the BD Armory mods bomb hit on a surface. It would create persistent damage? Or barring from that, because I assume it would require extra textures. Would it be possible to have realistic explosions, mushroom clouds shock wave type things propagating out? My (horrid) dream is to bring a super sized asteroid and great speed towards Kerbin and watch the fiery shock wave travel around the plant.

I do not know about the second question. But I have recently done a lot of looking into the first question. And it seems like the answer is "it depends" The Vram is just a faster closer version of the DRAM of the PC. Its where textures and color bit maps are loaded and stored before being processed by the GPU. I watched this How much Vram do you need? It seems like games that have lots of hi-res textures and your screen resolution play a big roll in the memory needs. KSP or Minecraft do not. A 1080p screen x 32 bit color data is like 8Mb + all the texture info. But if you play on 4K. its like 33Mb of just color data. Add your Skyrim beautification mods and the memory starts to matter.

Well, I took advantage of black Friday and now have a Asus Maximus VIII Ranger Mobo and 16Gb of Gskill 2133 DDR4 on its way to me. Any one else take advantage of deals for their KSP 1.1 ready PCs?

Isnt the i7 4790k on sale for 299? Oh NVM, your in Ca.

My bad It was like...7am :P And as far as I know. Then benchmark site is real world test submitted by users and enthusiast. Obviously not and end all be all "this is better then that" type sight. When looking at one processor vs another and they are in the same realm, one can expect similar performance. Such as my i7 920's, 4991 score vs the 6700k 11,000 I should see quite a boost but at great cost. YMMV
-
Cpubenchmark.com is my go to Users submit their bench mark scores. And you can compare your choice vs those recommended. They have a nice performance vs cost value graph I think.

I like the Remote control aspect! I have a question about science. I'm sending a crewed mission to the Jool system. And am using a bunch of tiny science bombs. Is there any way to transmit science from the surface to my crewed vessel with the MPL. Or is the only way to get the science data into it is physical collection?

The games I play are cpu intensive over gpu. I think, ksp obviously, dcs, arma 3. So one gtx 760 is fine. Then two (especially if I get a second for 150$) should be beyond what I need for highest settings. A family friend who is a computer guru said 150$ should be my mobo budget. He recommended a Asus z170-a. Which was 150$ ish from new egg. I keep an eye on the open box stuff and saw the ranger. I like the asus Rog boards I think. My rampage 2 was what..450$ when I bought it. So I thought it was a good deal. I don't have a lot of pc building experience out side of trying to put together the cheapest pos I can mange for work. So I don't know what I "need" but the more options the better. I was doing a compare of several boards and it was checking off the most boxes. Usb 3.1 a and c. Usb 3. Crap ton of fan headers and a dedicated water pump header. M.2 dad are in my future along with Oculus rift. I like my ROG sound card in my rampage. Needs to be full ATX. What board would you recommend then? Im putting together a black Friday list. What ever is the best vaule ill likely get. Oh, my conputer case is all open, so fresh air is plenty. The h100i is like 2*240mm fans or something, its litterly supported by a scaffolding of the nylon packing tape lol. Function over form! Several reviews have shown that the 6700k isn't that much faster then a 4970k in total, but in single core test it blows it away. Which sounds like it would be perfect for a game like KSP. So thata my reasoning behind this.. but i'm open to suggestions
-
I found the mobo for about 150$ And buying a new gpu would be vastly more expensive vs sli an other 760.

With the 1.1 and all the goodies that come with it coming. Would anyone recommend upgrading my setup? I have been quite happy with it for some time. But as it was built in 2008. With odd upgrade here and there, I thought it might be time. Core i7 920 @ 2.8ghz currently (3.5Ghz ish when playing Ksp) Coarsiar H100i Cooler Asus Rampage II extreme Motherboard. Gskull 8Gb ram Adata 60 & Muskin? 480Gb SSD GTX 760 OC 4gb Windforce Gpu I was thinking a core I7 6700k, and Asus Ranger mobo would be a good 7 year replacement. And If anyone has a bead on a second gtx 760 Windforce. Im all ears.

Can't right-click
scribbleheli replied to Netskimmer's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Majority of my ships were probes. Super annoying on launch assent when I can't monitor the fuel in my asparagus launcher. -
I haven't run into this for a while. And I can't remember the cause. Was hoping for some help. I have just launched two massive halfs of a manned jool mission in my 1.0.5 install. Both launched fine without bugs that I could see. Now docked in LKO. But in sending up my science pods/probe to the mother ship with a single claw on the top of one probe. And right around 5500m, F3 tells me, i gets structural failures. My girders break off a rockomax 1/8th tank. And my struts shoot off into Infiniti. Everything gets damged. Explosions and crash.. Is this the "klaw bug" I used timewarp on the launch pad. An error popped up telling me to quick save and quit NOW. Which I did. Then did a ship redesign. But this keeps happening on every attempt to launch this ship.
