Oh yeah the HDEV is basically my screen saver lol. I typically fall asleep to it. (OR, when available, I boot up KSP and do the same thing with one of my stations)

Which has nothing to do with Congress giving it the axe or them giving up. Orbital is redesigning Antares and will be using an Atlas V in November to continue launching Cygnus. Simple fact of the matter is, unless the Falcon 9 had something go wrong that fundamentally makes the entire system unworkable (and why after so many flights are we only just seeing this happen), SpaceX isn't going to be impeded by this at all.
-
I don't see why people are getting so worked up over this. Its not like this was the first manned Dragon flight or something. Now if that eventual flight does end in a castastrophic failure, then yes, I could understand the whole "Welp, SpaceX is done for now!" shtick. But with this flight? Don't see a reason for it whatsoever. Even from the viewpoint of Congress looking to nix the funding. The only thing really significant about this flight was the first stage landing and recovery, and its not like Congress was invested in the success of this one test for it.

Any one else hear his voice quiver a bit there at the end? But yeah I just watched this myself. It was quite something from the ground.

I'd rebuild Kerbin's surface civilization brick by brick.

What Are Things You've Heard That Made You Facepalm?

Pretty much anything to do with the Moon landings. Like, I usually like to make a joke in reference to Futurama where Nixon's Head goes "The thing they never expected as that we really DID fake the moon landings....ON VENUS!@#!!!" and then I get all kinds of nonsense in response instead of the chuckle I was looking for. -
Yeah I hate when spaghetti falls out of my pockets at the Gamestop.

Figured this would be a neat topic to see. So, as the title says, how many patches does module manager apply in your install? Obviously patches don't mean as much, because they're just small config edits, but as the amounts start to grow it almost always indicates a heavy mod presence in any given install. As you can see below, my current Stockalike focused install applies over 16 thousand patches with a little under 90 different mods installed.

Idk if this was ever in the works or even brought up, but what about integrating RemoteTech's flight computer into the Autopilot function? I don't personally care for MechJEB (or even KER for that matter. I just use VOID, its cleaner) but I like to use RT's computer all the time because its clean and easy to use to comprehend. It'd be nice to have the UI in RPM.

Well yeah, the problem is is that these buildings are no where near each other. The episode depicts the Saturn V center as being literally right next to the VAB and a short distance from a launchpad. (where there's also a Space Shuttle ready to launch) And that you can't actually drive up to the VAB yourself unless you work there. But yeah I can understand artistic license and all that, it just bugs me a bit when they go really out there with it unnecessarily. Like, I'm not going to get upset at how they portrayed the Shuttles cockpit, or even the idea that they'd have one still in launch condition at all times or that Space Camp would be hosted at the Saturn V center for whatever reason. But as someone who can literally walk to the Space Center it does bug me a little to see how they consolidated this huge complex into one small area. I mean, even in real life you can see the VAB and several of the Launchpads from the SV Center. Its actually a pretty good view too. Where I watched them launch the Ares I-X all those years ago. However, its not like I turn into that guy whenever this happens. Its all just in my head

Well, they couldn't possibly be neat to look at, amirite?

So I just watched the Family Guy episode where they sent Chris to Space Camp, and literally every moment where something involving NASA or the space shuttle was involved, I found myself going "Ah, thats not how it actually is!". Like when they arrived at space camp and somehow they were allowed to drive all the way up to the VAB, where the Saturn V center is also apparently located >.<. And pretty much any time I see stuff like this in any kind of television show or movie or what have you I just find myself endlessly criticizing the inaccuracy. And for good reason, as the real thing is infinitely cooler than the usual depiction. Course, that might be because I'm a total NASA fanboy to the point that I hold an annual pass for KSC and go there every other weekend just to hang out xD

Ya know, I always wondered why these sorts of events were really that important. I mean, it makes sense that early on in our history such events would be important, but nowadays I don't see the big deal beyond being something neat to look at.

I think someone should have kept reading lol. The mod is back on track and its going to be bigger than it ever was as time goes on.

Did you guys ever have plans for an actual Orion IVA? As much as I love all these parts, it bugs me to no end that the orion just uses the Alcor IVA, which doesn't mesh well with it imo.

They're not necessarily overpowered, its just that you aren't using up the safety margins. Real manned craft don't only carry fuel for the exact dV they need for their mission. Indeed, when it comes to real rockets and spacecraft, efficiency trades off for safety. While yes, there could have been some potentially large savings, fact of the matter is in order to make those savings worth it you'd have to guarantee that every maneuver from Launch to splash down would be performed perfectly.

Its one of the bases that comes with KAS/KIS. Basically a big block of metal you can prop things up on. -

It can explode yes, but only if you build it on the ground. Place a ground pylon and build on top of that. Its hacky yes but to be frank its easier to build on a pylon anyway. Even when we didn't have the potential for explosion it was still hard to build this without issues. -
Personally i've found that the game is just as great as it was back in the day, if not more so. Granted, my opinion is based on the fact that I never really switched from the "lone wolf" type. So my playstyle hasn't really been affected by the admitted increase of KOS in the game. However, I've also found that people are less into KOS on lower population servers, which in my opinion are the servers where the game really shines. (The max player servers almost always boil down into free for all unless the admins are forcing it otherwise) I've found more non-hostiles in low pop servers than I have in high pop ones. And if nothing else, the rate at which I find people who just agreed to back away and part ways was much higher in these servers.

Space is the mission.

The way I was thinking was if it had worked as it was intended to. Obviously the shuttle as it was couldn't have been modified to that original goal without extensive upfront costs.
-
If the Space Shuttle was as cheap and reusable as it was supposed to be, what do you guys think the numbers in the eventual fleet would have looked like?

Doesn't really matter if Pluto is considered a proper planet or not. Pluto is still a historically important part of our Solar system, and the only major and publicly known object in our solar system that we have not seen up close. Pluto the dwarf planet, Pluto the pointless piece of rock, Pluto the planet, whatever. This is like seeing what Jupiter or the Martian surface looks like for the first time.

Indeed, the new additions will make this quite amazeballs.
